NOTE: This is just a repost of the previous 'ForumText and Signature FAQs' thread.

PLEASE READ THIS THOROUGHLY BEFORE POSTING YOUR QUESTIONS

There are always questions about forumText sets and signatures. and since most of the questions asked travel along the same lines, here is a list of common Q and A`s for those who may be slightly befuddled about the whole matter. :)

* How do I change my forumText font and font color?

In the site navigation menu go to Preferences, then Forum Options. In the Forum Preferences select Update Your ForumText.

In the Edit text box you would add your font preferences.

When changing your font, font color, etc., remember to only use sCode and not HTML.

* How do I add images to my forumText?

In the site navigation menu go to Preferences, then Forum Options. In the Forum Preferences select Update Your ForumText.

In the Edit text box you would add your forumText image.

Again, remember to only use sCode and not HTML.

* How do I add a signature and/or signature image?

In the site navigation menu go to Preferences, then Forum Options. In the Forum Preferences select Update Your Signature.

In the Edit text box you would add your signature text and/or image.

Again, remember to only use sCode and not HTML.

* What is the size limit for forumText and signature?

ForumText sets and signatures cannot exceed 450px in width or have a COMBINED total height of more than 325px tall. This includes all images, links, and added text but does not include the actual content of your post.

Animations must be no larger than 5MB.

Any signature/forumText found over size limits will be cleared by site staff and result in a warning issued.

Examples of what is and is not acceptable are as follows:

Acceptable
ForumText Top: 100px tall
ForumText Bottom: 100px tall
Signature: 125px tall

Acceptable
No Forumtext Top
No Forumtext Bottom
Signature: 325px tall

Acceptable
Forumtext Top: 125px tall
Forumtext Bottom: 200px tall
No Signature

Not Acceptable
Forumtext Top: 125px tall
ForumText Bottom: 200px tall
Signature: 325px tall

Also, be aware that any additional text that is added in the forumText/Signature counts as 10px per line. So be sure to include that when calculating the size of your forumText/Signature.

Not sure how to check the size of your forumText/signature?
To check image size place your cursor over the image, right-click and select (depending on your browser) `Properties` or `view image info`. A pop-up will appear that will include a line that says Dimensions: # x #.

The first number will be the image width, and the second number will be the image height. So depending on if you will be stacking your images, or putting the images side-by-side, you would add the appropriate numbers to get the combined total width or height.

If you are still unsure if your forumText/Signature fits within the size limits, feel free to submit it in a ticket at the Ticket Center and a UA will happy to check it for you.

* How do I make a signature or forumText images?

To make your own, you`ll need to have some sort of graphics program installed on your computer such as; MS Paint, Paint Shop Pro, PhotoSuite, PhotoShop, etc.

You can put whatever you like on your signature or forumText images as long as it does not go against the Subeta`s Terms and Conditions.

If you`re unable to make your own, head to the Profiles & Graphics Market board and look for someone there who makes them. There are many users around the site that offer to make them for others either for free, or for a small fee.

* Is there anywhere that I can find pre-made Subeta forumText and/or signature images?

There are some Subeta fansite`s on the internet that have some pre-made graphics you can use, i.e., SubetaLodge and SubetaHQ.

* How can I put more than one image in my signature?

You can`t. You can only have one image in your signature. You can, however, have more than one image in your forumText. Just be sure you don't exceed the image size limits.

* How do I get my forumtext image to be on the right or left of my text? Can I have an image on both sides?

To align an image to the right use this Code:
[*img align=right]IMAGE URL HERE[/img]forumText[br clear=all*]

To align and image to the left use this Code:
[*img align=left]IMAGE URL HERE[/img]forumText[br clear=all*]

To align an image on both left and right use this Code:
[*img align=left]IMAGE URL HERE[/img][img align=right]IMAGE URL HERE[/img]forumtext[br clear=all*]

Be sure to remove the asterisks (*) in the code before using! ;)

NOTE: Please do not make 'test board' topics or posts on the forums just to see your forumText or signature. You can see a preview of your signature and forumText right where you edited them and if you want to see them in an actual post, go view a post that you have previously made. If you don't have one, just make a 'non-spam' reply to an existing topic.

If the above does not answer questions you have regarding forumText or signatures, then feel free to ask your question here.

If your question does not have to do with forumText or signatures, it does NOT belong here. Post it in the appropriate board.

shiny new board, yay!

Quote By @Sierra:

* My forumText won`t show up in the forum! Why?

The most common reason for this is using Photobucket image URL's. Images hosted at Photobucket will not work in the forumText area on the forum. You will have to either upload your images elsewhere, or you can go to TinyURL.com and convert your image URL to one that will work on the forum.
Quote:
* How can I make the text I add in my forumText to be capitalized?

Unfortunately you can`t. The forumText area automatically converts all text in the forumText to lowercase letters.

Text in the forumtext area are no longer automatically converted to lowercase letters (and haven't for a long time!). I have capital letters in my forumset, for example.
And because of this, Photobucket urls now work (the problem before was that people would have PB images with capitals in the url and tinypic/url worked because tinypic/url generated lowercase-only urls).

@Sierra
How do you align your signature where some of it is above your post and the other half of it's below your post. I've seen a lot of signatures like that.

@katie_cullen72 You would use the forumText option for that.

YAY!

@Sierra
Since a lot of people have been asking about fourmtext rotation images, it may be nice to add it to your guide. There are other ways of doing it, but this is the most simple meat hod.

This code goes into FourmText (the alignment can be changed as desired):
Code:

[img align=right][random=urlhere--urlhere--urlhere][/img]forumText

Note: placing "forumText" AFTER the code is important, otherwise the image(s) will always post on the line under your text, opposed to the side of the text.

I probably missed it somewhere, but I was wondering how to/if we can use the sCode on only a specific post? If I edit the forumText in the user preferences it will be a default style in all my post correct? Can't i change color or size in a single post separate from the preferences pane?

This is probably the most stupid question, but I can't seem to find where to edit the font.
In fact, I don't really know where site navigation is, hence me being new ;)
Thanks for the help ~

@Type

that's what people mean by "site navigation", its always at the top of the page. "preferences" mentioned in the first post is actually now "site preferences" and it's under the "personal" tab.

I'm trying to use the rotation image code. I tried changing the alignment to [*img align=center*] (without the asterisks) but my images still won't align to the center. Any suggestions?

@Nalcetla
Code:

[item=red ball]

looks like this in the forums
Red Ball
+ Wishlist

This can be found in sCode Reference, which is linked under Interact > Forums at the bottom.
