@brettney I'm trying, I'm just not having a lot of luck coming across flowers unfortunately.  My guess is they're all popping up on forum pages where I can easily miss them.

| My original name on Neopets and Subeta was gothickittyperson. I think I came up with it when I was probably 11 or 12. When I started getting older (16-17) I was still getting messages from people on Neo/Sub being like,"oooo lol i luvyourusername! its sooooo random lolol SPORK PENGUIN see i am 2! lol". That was when I decided it was high time to change that crap around. |

| I'm 20 years old, about to finish up my associates in psychology this fall, living with my boyfriend...and my parents. I feel like my stepdad (technically my mom's fiance, but they've been together for over 10 years so he's fatherlike) is a total bully. I'm constantly walking on eggshells with him. I'm constantly receiving the blame for things I didn't do. Moreover, it's evident that he's chosen my younger sister as the favorite between the two of us. Today he yelled at me (note: yelled) because I left a knife in the sink instead of putting it in the dishwasher. He continued to yell until I put the knife into the dishwasher. He and my mom left shortly thereafter to go out for drinks and I just fell at my wit's end. I texted my mom telling her everything about how I feel about him-- how he has blatantly picked favorites between my sister and I, how I'm always getting blamed, how he makes promises to my mom that he always breaks, and how I'm scared to talk about it because I know if he knew, he'll get offended and make me feel guilty for being upset. I haven't heard anything from her. I want to move out, but I don't have the resources. I'd almost prefer to be homeless if it meant getting away from him. |

My boyfriend's band is trying to get into a music festival held in Wisconsin and we need as many people as possible to vote Steady Flow to the lead. The voting ends tonight so please help!

We're trying to get my boyfriend's band into a music festival being held in Wisconsin and the competition is close! As far as I know of, you don't need to 'like' any pages or anything, just vote for the band "Steady Flow". It ends at midnight central time I believe.
This means a lot to him, and I'd also love to hang out in Wisconsin for a weekend, so we really appreciate anything we can get!

| Dunno if this has been suggested in the past, but what about a fashion subtopic in the forums? Perhaps in the General Creativity forum or Chit Chat forums? I should specify that this suggestion is for real life fashion-- something along the lines of Polyvore, Elle, or Chictopia. These forums could be a place to share fashion suggestions from users, threads on fashion trends, and even updates on sales happening on online stores! |
| Sooo, I haven't exactly caught you guys up on what's been happening since I last posted.
About 2 weeks ago, a person who worked with me in the receiving department left. Instead of hiring someone else on in my department, the head receiving manager decided we'd be better off if she divvied up the hours to everyone in receiving. "Awesome!" I though, mostly because I was in desperate need of the hours. So I check my schedule later that same day (after I was told I would be receiving more hours), and I was still seeing only 9 hours/2 shifts for all 3 weeks posted. However, when I looked at the hours for another employee in receiving, she had gained about 20 hours.
So instead of dealing with this bullcrap, I put in my two weeks notice on Monday, and I have a phone interview with one of the local hospitals for housekeeping in about an hour. Even if I don't get a job for this housekeeping thing, I'll just keep looking until I find something. I think I've reached a breaking point where I've stopped caring. What's going on in my life is more important than contributing to a company I could care less about.
Anyhow, I'm not feeling as upset or depressed as I made that whole thing sound. I'm actually getting my etsy store up and running! Extra income baby!

@bread *tacklehug* Probably nothing you can do. It's not like it's entirely B&N's fault, my wishful thinking that they would carry through with the promise of more hours was no help. Mehhhh, ilu. 
@wesker I started looking today. It definitely not a good time of year around here to look for jobs, but I found some positions at one of the local hospitals for housekeep, dish washing, and food distribution. It's nothing as glamorous as my previous jobs, but I'd be getting at least 16-20 hours a week starting at $10.50/hour which would be more than enough to save at least $50 a week. I've applied for FAFSA but I haven't heard anything back yet-- fingers crossed.
@lisa Ugh, I hate the whole "you're not experienced enough for this" bull. Cool, be my opportunity to gain experience...or not. I hope I can find somewhere that will take me soon. I hate to leave my job at B&N because I love working with the people there, but I'm not motivated to be there anymore. It's doesn't feel worth it to get up at 6 in the morning to be there by 7 twice a week.
My boyfriend ended up giving me $100 to put into my account for various things that he'd had me cover in the past, so at least I have something back on my account. I really hope things start getting better. |
| After working my ass off for the last four years to save up money so I could move out of my parents house and attend a university, I received a letter from my credit union telling me that I no longer have sufficient funds in my account. I'm so upset, mostly because I know it's due to my job at Barnes and Noble. I have to drive 30-40 mins to get there every time I work, and my hours have all but dwindled since I started working there. I've worked 9 hours a week for the last month. Due to gas costs (I go to school as well) and costs of car maintenance, the $400 I started with in my account when I got my job is all gone. I want to die. |
