I'll try to make some improvements based on your critique, thank you! Someone else said basically the same things last time I asked for critique too. Like.... all the same things. It would seem that I am very bad at making my shading look right, haha. OTL I tried shading it to match the upper left light source, but it is still not apparent enough? (This one in particular seems to defeat me repeatedly. Any suggestions? I seem to struggle with it because every single item appears to have a straight-from-the-front light source to me. D8) I can definitely make the shading less harsh and sharper (I know it doesnt look it, but it IS cell shaded... with like 12 layers of shading, haha. I'll see if reducing the number of layers makes the shading sharper. I wasn't particularly worried about that because I've seen so many other CWs with shading that appears soft too, but its worth improving just in case. )
The lines on the overlay look perfect to me, though.... I think I see which part you are looking at that seems too thick, and I think that has to do with the harsh shading right there, so hopefully softening it will improve the lines. (You're looking at the side of the ribbon's loop, right? Right where it creases on the outside?)
Yay, wall of text response! Seriously though, thank you. I'll try to make improvements. (Worst case scenario is that I re-shade from scratch, which won't be too hard, haha.)

and yes, I tried to give all of the ribbons a slightly different style of shine to them, just to mix it up a little. Pearl and Onyx are slightly different shininess too, if you look closely. I wasn't sure how to make Diamond shiny though, so I hope it doesn't look too plain compared to the others. oAo

| @Squishy Unfortunately I have no idea how to animate, so no animation... ;w; I think I just used too many colors? I already did most of what you mentioned, except for changing the mode on the png manually; I've been just saving the png as a gif and watching it wind up gritty, haha. I'll give that a try and see how it goes, thank you! @Choco I think you're right and I'm going to have to try re-coloring it. I DID cell shade, but I smoothed the edges of the color with blur.... I think I Over-did it on the blur tool, haha. Oops. (That does explain a few things...) I have other CIs for other colors of this CW that are less colorful (like plain silver, grey, red, etc) and those CIs all turned out awesome looking. Its just this one giving me trouble, haha. If all else fails, I'll re-color the image with harder shading and see if that helps at all. Thanks for your help, everyone! |

I've been around on Subeta for years, and I do not recall there ever being an item like that.
If I had to guess, you might be thinking of the Mystery Box feature, which produces any random holiday item, and is the closest thing to what you're describing that I can think of. xD The Mystery Box can be accessed any time by going to the Arctic Frost, and is located next to Avalanche Emporium.
Also, don't forget to "Ping" a user to let them know you replied to them. Just hit the  button on their post to Ping someone when you reply on the forums. |

I don't understand why all the CIs must be GIFs.... It would be awesome if they'd take PNGs as well as animated GIFs for the CI images, haha.
Unfortunately, the result I shared was with maxed out color settings. ;; I wouldn't be worried too much if the grittiness was less apparent, but I feel like it reduces the quality of the image significant below the standards, which is why I am now pestering the forums, haha.
Your suggestion gave me an idea for something else I can try, though, so thank you! |
| This is probably really random and I wasn't sure where to post this question, so this seemed like the best option.... ;w;
Anyways. I've been working on my first attempt at a CW for a while now, and I'm almost done, except I hit one little snag that has defeated me repeatedly....
We're supposed to save the CI images for our CWs as GIF files, according to the CW Guidelines, but....
how on earth do you save a colorful GIF file without the colors going gritty to hell? D8
I've tried every option in the save window, I've tried saving the image through at least 3 different programs, I tried altering the brightness and saturation of the colors, I've even tried re-coloring the image with a different technique, but no matter what I try, when I save it as a GIF, all of the colors become gritty looking.
Yes, I am a total GIF newb, haha. I usually save my images as PNGs because the colors are always smooth and perfect, so this GIF thing has me completely defeated. OTL
Thus, I turn to my comrades for assistance! Any artists out there who can tell me the secret to saving smooth color GIF images please? ;;
Edit: Wooooowwwww, I can't believe I didn't think of that. I think I have it figured out now. Thank you guys!

| @Lightning Oh gosh, I get so obsessed with anime music, its become the only thing I ever listen to, haha. xD If you've ever seen Shugo Chara, or Full Moon oh Sagacrape, those animes have some of my most favoritest songs ever. There's this manga my bestie got me into called Renai Idenshi XX which I think you might enjoy. It has an interesting setting. (The chapters come so slow though. oAo)
I would happy to note you down for a preclaim! *Makes note* I'm going to let this voting thing go for the next 2 days or so, and see what I end up with. If necessary, I can probably go with 6 or 7 colors... we shall see. ;D

Please note that these colors are not planned to be released without enough interest, so if you would like either color, please let me know so I can add you to an "Interest" List for them. 
I only want to make this wig come in three or four colors: "Gold" (Blonde), "Bronze" (Reddish-Brown maybe?), "Steel" (Something dark to resemble Black), and "Platinum" (Literally Platinum Blonde. Bah dum tsh~).
