CHIC IS NOW ACCEPTING MULTI-CULT MEMBERS

What does this mean?

Many of us have been anxiously awaiting the cult revamp, which is said to have a multi-cult option. Since this revamp is not likely to be in the near future, Keith is allowing us to go ahead and start doing this on our own. This is how CHIC will be doing it:
-Even though you won't be able to be listed on two cult's rosters ON SUBETA, you will still be a full member of CHIC and listed as a member on our offsite forums, as well as receiving the same perks and accessibility as our current members, including joining our onsite Subeta ping groups, etc. It's basically full membership just without being on the onsite list... which doesn't matter too much anyways.
-You will still need to go through our normal application system.
-Unfortunately, we will not be able to accept members from other avatar or fashion-related cults, this would just become a conflict of interest.
-You will be required to give CHIC just as much dedication as your original cult and follow all CHIC rules and activity guidelines.

Hello my fellow fashionistas and welcome to the CHIC cult recruitment board. CHIC is looking for fashionable, dedicated, and active members to join our superb fashion family.

So, why CHIC? There's so many new fashion cults out there, why should you take the time and effort to apply and get into CHIC?

1) We are the ORIGINAL and most exclusive fashion cult on Subeta and the cult that renewed interest in cults in 2008.
2) We are the most active cult on Subeta. We've been a cult since April of 2008 (that's 5 years!)
This proves our staying power and dedication to the members of our cult.
3) We have so much to offer our members, it's not even funny.

So, what DO we have to offer?

- A fully-functioning website with an active forum, up-to-date news, feature pages, cult shops, and an IRC chat room
- Your choice of 5 different graphic themes to use while browsing the website and forums
- Active and friendly members and a dedicated, hard-working staff
- Collectible status symbols
- A cult ranking system with prizes (Subeta wearable of your choice, etc.) for each level you earn
- Collectible cult points to spend in two ways - earning new ranks and buying collectible items in our cult fashion shops
- Cult fashion shops with cute fashion items to buy and collect
- Personal item collections and profiles that display those collections
- Style File: avatar adoration, a website for uploading, sharing, and adoring avatars [Free Premium account for CHIC members]
- Numerous events, contests, and games (with high score lists and prizes)
- Numerous giveaways and fundraisers to take part in
- ALWAYS working on amazing new features for our members
- Exclusive CHIC custom CSS PREVIEW
- CHIC exclusive custom wearables [you can't buy them unless you're in CHIC]

But, don't just take my word for it. See for yourself:

WOW! Sounds cool, right? There is a catch.
You will need to apply to join CHIC, and since we are the Legendary Fashion Cult of Subeta, we do have certain standards you need to meet in order to be accepted. So, what are they?

1) Seamless hair layering
2) Don't abuse sets
3) Strive for correct item layering
4) Don't be a copycat

Do you have what it takes?
Then please join our site/forums and post your application in the Applications Forum. There are instructions on how to do so there. Once you've applied, you should receive an answer (through our forums - you'll have a private message there) on your application within three days or so.

Did you apply and get rejected?
No worries! You can reapply in one month and if you'd like to receive more detailed critiques from our cult members, previous applicants can now post in our Critiques Forum ON the CHIC website.

1) Can I use generated avatars (from SubetaHQ, Arvee) in my application?
No, you may not.

2) How long does it take to be approved/rejected?
Usually 48 hours, however, sometimes we are very busy and it can take up to a week or more. Gently remind us if need be.

3) Can I apply with avatars made by someone else?
No. Designing your own shows that it's actually you who's capable of making Chic-appropriate avatars, not someone else. It also demonstrates that you've got your own personal taste/avatar design quirks, which is always a plus.

4) Judging by my current avatar, should I apply?
We cannot give avatar advice here in this forum, so we suggest using our Chic Critiques board.

5) Do I need to be rich or own a lot of clothing to be accepted?
No, you do not. While large wardrobes are helpful in designing new, fresh, and fashionable avatars, plenty of people are creative enough to make small budgets and wardrobes work for them.

6) Do I need to make complex/heavily layered avatars to be accepted?
No, you do not. We have a few members already who excel at simplistic avatars. It just takes an eye for design, balance, and color-matching.

FAQs

No, you may not.

I've been a member for exactly one month yesterday, and i couldn't be happier. The whole application process and hoops to jump through are 100% worth the amazing benefits and people who are a part of CHIC. With all the amazing features like the forums, contests, and new fashion shops (omfg- so amazing!) there is never a boring moment when you are a part of CHIC.

As for ranks, the activities and such make it way fun to earn cult points, and even though i've only been here a month, i've climbed 5 ranks, almost six! Its fairly easy to earn points, but its the community that has really driven me to work hard. We have so many amazing members, and its a total breeze to feel relaxed and find people with similar interests. Plus, if you get in, you get access to some dogin' CSS and graphics made my our members (don't you love my modesty? XD ).

So in conclusion... Work hard, build your skills, and apply, because it is totally worth it to be a part of the BEST CULT ON SUBETA!

Oh hell yes, my HA is in the theme #5 screenshot. *NOT VAIN AT ALL*

Anyway, Chic is a lot of fun, especially the IRC (when I remember to load it, wut). And the new shops OMG. I totally needed another way to get my virtual shopping fix, hahaha. XD

P.S. We have big-ass spider dolls.

I love CHIC mostly for the community it brings. You don't feel like you're going to be left out in the cold by any of the members, and that makes it especially easy to talk to them more on the forums, even if you're a shy little thing (like me DX )

I was terrified to app at first, but I'm glad I did. I don't feel as terrified about not measuring up anymore and have a lot more confidence in my skills as a HA maker!

I look forward to all the new members who will be drawn in by all the fantastic new stuff the talented people in CHIC have added to the cult. I was not a member waaay back in the day, but I do remember a brief period before the separate website, and watching that grow has been incredible. This is legit straight-up dedication on the part of the admins, artists, and, well, everyone in some way. So what are y'all waiting for? Get those apps together and get thee to CHIC Critiques NAO!!!

Also... CHIC events. Love love love them. VERY high on my list of favorite things about the cult, besides all the lovely people.

These most recent changes are absolutely brilliant, guys! More evidence that being a part of Chic is much more than membership of some random little similar-interests club.

I can't wait to get back into the swing of things with these new collectibles and profile changes!

I also can't wait to see some fresh meat amongst our ranks. ;D Applying may seem like an unecessary evil to some, but it's actually a really enjoyable process if you genuinely enjoy Subeta's avatar system.

CHIC Boulevard looks absolutely phenomenal Erika! It looks like an insane ammount of effort went into the whole thing, both concept and art wise. It just proves how well we got it in Chic, so apply people.

I love CHIC Boulevard! Seriously, I am continuously being amazed at how CHIC continues to grow. So many features are added, it seems like something is always in the works! I highly encourage users to apply to CHIC. It's more than a link on your profile. There's a wonderful community, activities, events, and Erika & co. work really hard all the time to improve the cult.

So I just logged on to see the Chic Boulevard, and it is awesome.

I love Chic because it is a close knit community of friends who can talk about just about anything. Erika & Co work very hard to constantly keep the cult growing and getting better. Every time I log on there is something new and awesome happening. Everything from new contests to new fundraisers. Everyone is willing to help each other out. Even though applying may feel daunting, it's well worth it.

I love this cult!

@ Badadadadaaaaaa, I'm lovin' it. Your current HA is adorable. (I'd suggest making the pants a tinge darker though. Good luck coming up w/enough HAs. It's hard, but you learn a hella lot from it.

Yes, there is a board in Avatars already, I linked to it up there in fact. We're pairing everyone up so people aren't paired with members who are already their friends.

There's always instructions on the prizes and how to redeem them in the Event threads. Plus, there is a Ranking Forum that details how to get your points, which now includes the points for the new cult shops.

And yes, @ drew those AWESOMEEEE handbags. *_*

It's not as brutal as you might think. C:

The people in charge of presiding over applications are dedicated to their job, but they're not harsh or rude. If you don't make it the first time, you're not gonna be shunned or anything.

Plus, if you apply and don't make it the first time, at least then you get access to our critiques section and can get some really in depth and helpful feedback from a variety of Chic members.

I wish I'd had access to something like that when I was first starting out with avatars. I shudder at the thought of my neon bunnyslippertastic monstrosities of olde. xD

You buy them and add them to your personal "collections" which are visible on your Chic profiles by you and other members. You can also sell, trade, and send the items to other members.
