Looking around today I noticed there was no real guide on the score ranges for the bonus game about what gives which wooden tile, and yet it seems to be a fairly common question.

So I'm making this board in an effort for us all to combine our knowledge and see if a list can't be compiled.
When you play a bonus game of Subeta Tiles please post here with what your final score was when you ended your game, and what wooden tile you received. The more scores that are posted here the better, so we can obtain a more accurate range for when each tile is awarded.

Code:

Score: 4038
Tile: [item=Wooden Celinox Tile]

Remember ladies and gents, there are trophies to be awarded for playing Subeta Tiles and you need the wooden tiles for achievements (or just selling for a pretty penny), so participating with this board is a win-win situation.

i'm definitely interested in helping.
i was under the impression that score had no verifiable bearing on what tile you receive. has there been a change?

"Soon there will be just feathers and a quiet fall..."

How does it work exactly? You fill your tile slab and you gain access to the bonus round. After the bonus round you receive a wooden tile. Then what? Do you have to refill your tile slab to regain access to the bonus round or can you play the bonus round infinitely?

@BaronLacroix - Every time you fill your tile board you can play the bonus game until you 'loose', then you have to fill your tile board all over again to access the bonus round.

Anyway, I'll be participating for sure, so look out for me posting my scores. I'll get them to you as soon as I can play the bonus round again *subscribes to thread*

@Anica-Starbell

What's your general strategy? I try to fill atleast 2 before turning in the game, I find three filled is way too difficult.

@Nataku

Count me in I'm about half way to filling my board

@baronlacroix
I fill each column in three at a time, to the best of my ability, so that the second of the two tiles displayed about the slots is a sun. It's kind of hard to explain, really, but if you just make sure that each column is at sun before you start filling them out again, it should work. I'll probably make a tutorial for it later, with screen shots and stuff. I've been meaning to anyway, so I'll post a link here when I'm finished.

Edit

There you go, hope it makes sense. Also, if anyone wants tutorials for any of the other games, let me know via sMail, I can probably make one.

I was under the impression that the tiles were given out by a points range, and that was why some tiles were cheaper than others, like the Bovyne and Fester tiles. I'm assuming they come as prizes from some of the lower point scoring ranges, but again, confirmation is needed, which is why I hope you all will post in this thread.

@BaronLacroix Yes after you lose the bonus round and get a wooden tile, you must go back and fill in your stone tile tray over again to gain access to the bonus round again. That's one of the main reasons why I think this thread is so important. I would be happy to compile a list on my own, but the time it takes for one person to complete enough rounds of the normal games to get one chance at the bonus round would take forever. With everyone helping, I hope we can get this information together much faster.

Thank you everyone for the interest! I hope we can get some general ranges up within the week as more people post results.

@Nataku - Glad to help! Like I said, I'll put in mine as soon as I get to the bonus game, though I just recently played so it might take a while. But I like this idea, I'm surprised no one has come up with it yet, and I'll see if I can't recruit a few friends into helping out as well. After all, the more people we get, the faster this will go and the more accurate we'll be, right?

yes. that is what the rumor is, definitely. i attempted to test this out myself a year ago or so and got well over 5k and ended up just getting a low-end, cheap tile. this discouraged me from attempting again -- so i just spent time building my tile case (for when i felt like trying again). i currently have roughly 1600 tiles in my tile case.... so i guess it's time to dust off the bonus game and see what happens!!!

I'm pretty sure this is the case. The first time I played the bonus, I had a score of 800 (sad, I know ) and got a bovyne tile, and next time I played I happened upon the same score and got another bovyne! So this point range thing is highly possible....

Oh wow, you know I never paid much attention to the score I got, I was just more thrilled with the tile. I can say that I did get the:

Wooden Archan Tile

Wooden Archan Tile

as the first ever tile I earned from the extra game. I will say that I got to the extra game without collecting tiles because I got the special one that lets you go right to the game, but I do remember playing the bonus game for a loooooong while before I couldn't do more.

I'll pay more attention the next time I can play the game and let you know how it goes!

I meant to make a thread like this in the games forum for ages but was always too lazy to do so. Glad to see someone else has finally decided to do it to save me the effort.

I have no idea if the Tiles FAQ is up to date - I suspect not - but if it is, then unfortunately any results gathered here might be subject to change:
Quote:
Q: Everytime I play a Bonus Game is the tile I'm given completely random?
A: Not completely. The tiles given are divided into groups. Based on how your score in a Bonus Game compares with the current Single-Game high score, you are directed to a group of 1-6 tiles from which the computer picks 1 tile at random to give you.

So if the wooden tiles are still awarded on this same system (which I have some doubts of), then the exact cut-off points for each group could alter if anyone ever manages to surpass the current highest score of 32295 (this score has been at the top of the table for a couple of years now).

But then there have definitely been modifications made to the game since the FAQ was first written (it's remained the same since I first arrived on the site, and I know there was a significant change made to the scoring groups some time ago, when a bunch of new species were added). I don't know who the right person on staff would be to ask if the scores are still calculated in roughly the same way now...

Somewhere I have a big list of all the scores and tile results I've got for just about every bonus Tiles game I've ever played. I noticed the cut-off points for each group were changed about quite a lot a couple of years ago, when a bunch of new species were added. Unfortunately the list isn't on this computer, but when I have the time I'll try to track it down and post all my results from since the last change was made.

(Um, I should add though that I'm not on Subeta so much these days and have played barely any Tiles Bonus Games in the past six months or so... so if anyone knows of any more scoring changes that have been made very recently, please let me know. I don't want to post a load of obsolete information!)

@Zyfe

if we assume that the ancient hint about the selection of the tiles is true (and i suppose it's the best we have at the moment), then perhaps it would be safer to find a block system and see which tiles fall into that block. for example.. if i use the other achievement tiers as a basis for the tile system, then i could possibly assume that tile blocks may be separated based on every 1000 points.

0-1000
1001-2000
2001-3000
3001-4000
4001-5000

and so on -- with groups of tiles repeating as the HS increases. with this, perhaps we can make a table to display any tiles awarded based on a certain score to verify if this system is still in place. since i seem to recently average around the 1001-2000 range, it will be easy to see if all six tiles are given.

er... i hope all that made sense.

Found the list of the scores I kept since noticing the scoring system had been changed. I cannot guarantee that this information isn't somewhat out of date (I haven't even been through it to change all the 'Turdles' to 'Chelons' ), however it seems to agree with all the other scores people have posted so far... I'd guess the first cut-off point for groups is around the ~850ish mark, the second at the ~1820ish mark; after that I'm not sure (I'd originally pegged the ~2700ish mark but that conflicts with a second list I have; see below).

150 - Lasirus
210 - Swampie
455 - Mallarchy
465 - Lasirus
475 - Swampie
525 - Lasirus
630 - Fester
636 - Darkonite
660 - Bovyne
675 - Fester
831 - Darkonite
861 - Aerie
906 - Dillema
906 - Terracoon
995 - Terracoon
996 - Aerie
975 - Wyllop
981 - Ghostly
1010 - Wyllop
1020 - Aerie
1056 - Popoko
1395 - Ghostly
1400 - Wyllop
1530 - Dillema
1551 - Ghostly
1575 - Aerie
1611 - Popoko
1635 - Ghostly
1726 - Terracoon
1791 - Popoko
1815 - Dillema
1836 - Turdle
1845 - Devonti
1845 - Turdle
1860 - Devonti
1890 - Turdle
1905 - Illumis
1971 - Charlie
2062 - Devonti
2070 - Chelon
2160 - Charlie
2266 - Turdle
2307 - Velosotor
2380 - Donadak
2571 - Illumis
2772 - Archan
2832 - Warador
2901 - Archan
2910 - Anyu
3097 - Serpenth
3472 - Warador
3540 - Celinox
3678 - Paralix
3714 - Paralix
3786 - Celinox
3975 - Rreign
3979 - Tutani
4029 - Rreign
4241 - Manchu
4308 - Kanis
4311 - Paralix
4462 - Tigrean
4488 - Mortiking
4566 - Tigrean
5057 - Ontra
5218 - Tigrean
5571 - Demi
5901 - Ruffie
6147 - Clawsion
6432 - Legeica
6798 - Montre
7677 - Kerubi
8737 - Sheeta
10998 - 1337

The list above was saved with the heading, "High score - 32295". However I also have saved a much shorter list, that I'm guessing I probably started before this single-game high score changed, but after the exact group allocations scorings changed (that is, I didn't write down why the two lists were kept separate and have subsequently forgotten. They were in the same document). I'll post it anyway, it may or may not be relevant and fit in with current scorings/the list above:

210 - Fester
240 - Bovyne
465 - Swampie
480 - Lasirus
641 - Swampie
660 - Bovyne
1510 - Dillema
1512 - Aerie
2295 - Devonti
2385 - Archan
4260 - Hikei
4566 - Tigrean
6025 - Legeica
6033 - Legeica

I also found I'd saved links to a couple of ancient threads in this forum about how the Bonus Game scoring works (for Heavens' sake nobody necro these things ). Obviously any info given in them is liable to be out of date, but they may still contain useful information about the way the scoring system works, even though the exact cut-off points have changed since then. (My current theory however is that nowadays, the groupings of species tiles only apply to Bonus Games scores up to about 10,000, and these groupings are independent of single-game high scores; once you hit five figures you get something a bit more special. By "theory" however I really mean "half-arsed guess", given that I've only once in the past couple of years hit the five-figure mark.)

From three years ago, post I saved because @Quagthistle (the original coder of the game) at post #13 explained quite a bit about the way various aspects of it worked. (I'm idly wondering if @shatzy remembers originating this thread...)

From only slightly less long ago: a similar thread with yet more teal deer from myself at post #8 pontificating about how the scoring system worked. Obviously the numbers at which certain tiles are allocated has changed greatly since then; however I think that (apart from the addition of a few newer species, such as Legeica and Popoko) the actual groupings and their relative rarities haven't changed. For example, it was fairly well-established at one point (not just by me) that the six tiles in the lowest-scoring group were Bovyne, Darkonite, Fester, Lasirus, Mallarchy, Swampie. I don't think that's changed, but two or three years ago you would get one of those tiles for any score up to about 3200; now you only get them for scores of approximately 850 or less.

The latter post also contains another wonderful (ahem) theory from myself about the tiles allocated for achieving increasing ranks possibly corresponding to the increasing rarity of tiles given out for the Bonus Game - which theory I had also completely forgotten about and never properly followed up on. Just thought I'd throw that out in case anyone more methodical, active, and bored than me cared to investigate it.

...Currently I have a few hundred tiles in my case which I might be able to wring a few more Bonus Games out of, but until I find the time for that I think I've finally run out of things to say on the subject. Apologies for verbosity and congrats/commiserations to anyone actually who read all this guff.

thank you SO much for the above post!!! Not caring too much about keeping track of my scores/tiles received, but I read the post you saved from Quag from 3 years ago, explaining the game.

I had no idea that you had to click on the gold tile under your rank. OMG! I've been playing tiles for over a year, and just now, i went from rank 0 to rank 89, thanks to your info.

Also got a crappile of ceramic tiles and 3 wooden tiles (1 that I didn't already have), a nice bit of sp, and a load of the *wild* ceramic tiles. awe-sum-0!!

thank you so much for taking the time to share that info with us!

Wow. That was pretty bad. I've gotten over 2000 in a single game, but this time, there was just one tile that just wouldn't match anything and my other two pillars were full. :/

But, I suppose a tile is a tile and since I don't have this one yet, it's fine by me!
