I'm looking to buy some kind of tablet. I only intend to use it for fashion illustration. I'm just a student now but plan on being professional in the future. Also not really looking to break the bank with this purchase, which I know is a big hindrance ~.~

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance for replies.

Anything by wacom I've had my wacom graphire 4 for about 5 years now, and it still works like new. Fantastic brand, relatively cheap.

Art by me.

What are their lifespans like for the Bamboo Pen? Do I need to worry with a warranty?

well Ive had mine for awhile and like all the other wacom tablets they seem to stand up to anything~ (like me winging it across the room at a wall or stepping on it~XD im alittle clumsy...) I have 3 tablets from wacom and one of them is really old but still works like new~ but that is just my experience~XD

Yes, wacom is ♥.

I had a graphire before, but I returned it 'cause I busted the pen (i told them it busted itself, LOL) and that was just within one year of use.

They were going to replace my graphire with a "not broken one" but unfortunately they had sold out of the graphires and had only the (at that time) new bamboo tablet stocked and so i received a snazzy bamboo. I've now had this for quite a while (a year as well?) being EXTREMELY careful with my pen and it's still going strong. ♥

my bamboo came with a cordless mouse, tablet pen, three tablet pen-tip refill plastic thingies don't know what they're called and lots and lots of software.

Anything from Wacom is pretty decent. I have an old Wacom Graphire 4, and it's lasted me around 4-5 years so far!

I was just at Best Buy today, and I was looking at them myself.
The Bamboo Pen & touch is $30 more than the Bamboo pen.
-What's the difference?
-Which to get?

@emorag
bamboo pen only uses a pen like normal tablets but bamboo pen and touch has multi-touch features and the pen~

from the wacom website -With Multi-Touch, you use simple hand gestures and finger taps on the tablet's surface.- so its kind of like a laptops mouse~XD so if you want it just for drawing... I dont think its worth the extra money~XD but you may find it useful...

I recommend a Wacom Bamboo If you don't already have drawing/design programs, I believe they have a Wacom Bamboo Fun which comes with quite a few, that one being around 100USD.

I recommend a Wacom Bamboo as well. A suggestion for when you get it though, lay on a flat surface, though I'm pretty sure it's mentioned in the instructions. *didn't read instructions* Eheheh... Though I learned this from a friend who learned from experiance, so I guess they didn't read either. XD

I dont know which one you got... but with it being more expensive I would guess its larger then the one I mentioned~ if so youll thank your self later~ It may even last you your whole life unless you feel like buying all the new ones or need an even bigger one~ Bamboo pen is a wonderful starting tablet and wonderful if you dont have much money but as you draw more and more having a larger tablet is really nice mainly for detail~ also it means you got photoshop elements and corel there are a few things you cant do with corel like no transparent bg and pixleing is almost impossible also you may find you want some brushes in photoshop or even some of the special effects~ I have a bamboo pen for bringing with me to my friends house~ but at home I only really use my intous3 because its better for detail~ so if I where you I wouldnt feel to bad~

I have a really old model of a graphire wacom. I've had it for like 5 years now, and it's still going strong.
Just don't treat any of the tablets you decide to get like toys.
Handle them with care and clean them up when they get dirty and stuff.
Simple as that.

"Handle them with care and clean them up when they get dirty and stuff." Mutationification has a good point~XD heh I should listen to that~ I end up stepping on mine all the time~

@Simplicityx
