Stray Dog (1999)

It's an amazing oneshot that doubles as Hiromu Arakawa's first published work. If I had never found it, I wouldn't have recognized the author's name or style, which mean I probably wouldn't have given Fullmetal Alchemist a second glance.

I think it was Magic Knight Rayearth. My sisters introduced me to manga and ever since I've probably read and watched close to over 200 different anime/manga. Fushigi Yugi was a good one

Well they stopped publication after the fifth book (even though they didn't end the series) but the first manga I ever read was Aquarion Age: Juvenile Orion.

Blade of the Immortal :3 I like to draw anime characters (even if I have no idea who they are/never seen the anime and such) and my parents were shopping and saw a manga of BotI. They had no idea what it is but said that the drawing style reminded them of what I draw, so they decided to buy it for me.

Problem is, it's in Croatian (I'm half Croatian but I'm having a hard time with reading the mangas ) and I only have the first 6 volumes or so... I will never know how it ends XD

Case Closed.
Back in the 7th grade, I was obsessed with the show that showed on Adult Swim late at night.

I knew about manga before then, I just never really got around to actually reading one (and at the time, I was thoroughly confused on how to read them xD).

I decided to buy a copy one day... It was true love.

ROFL. Desert Coral, recommended by a friend. I can't bring myself to get rid of the mangas, either, even though it's been so long and they're still on my shelf.

@KyotoAngel, Juvenile Orion was also one of my favorites...you know, I did feel like the series was kind of left hanging. I would certainly read them again, if they decided to continue.

Me too! There was some manga reviews in my brother's video game mags, I got BotI first, then Battle Angel Alita and Nausicaä... more than ten years ago *is ooollldd* They don't publish it in Finnish so I have the oddly "reversed" Dark Horse editions.

First one that I picked up on my own was Orphan... unfortunately, I only bought/read the first one
then
It was Red River. Which is like awesome and the inspiration for a few of my characters xD I only have up to book 6 because mangas are frking expensive.
But I did find it online so I finished it up :3 It ends adorably.

Don't forget to be awesome

A Sailor Moon Super S manga. I bought it when I was nine, I think, and I STILL have it. I barely read it for fear of it falling apart, as it's already got some loose pages, but I still love it after ten years. (:

Chobits! There was a tiny section of manga/comics at the old library I went to and I one day picked up a copy of Chobits after finishing with all the Xena they had. Peach Girl was my second, which spawned from the same place.

I think my first manga read was Rurouni Kenshin, which I started reading after I had finished the anime. After that, I got into full metal alchemist, Kurocrapsuji, and Bleach <3 All of which are very good.

Hmm. I think it was one called Oh! My Goddess or something. I was in sixth grade, and my friend explained the story and gave me one to read. I only read one or two volumes, though.

The first manga I actually got into was Fruits Basket.

Inuyasha, I believe. Although I didn't get past volume four ...
The first series I completed would have been either Death Note, Cat Street or Paradise Kiss. It was a while back so I can't really remember. Cat Street and Paradise Kiss are still two of my favourite series.
