 I just traded in about four games from my DS that I didn't want and had enough store credit at Gamestop to get SoulSilver. I need any and all tips anyone can give me as far as team pokemon LOL And what is the rarity of Shiny Pokemon? Same as normal or better?

I just use whatever pokemon I like, so I can't help you too much with a team. =P As for shinies, you have a 1/8192 chance of finding one in the wild. Shiny red Gyarados in the lake of rage does not count. That one is supposed to be shiny. Other than being a different colour, there is nothing special about them.

Well, thats ok enough for me. Ive found 3 wild shinies already and Im pretty confident I will keep finding them. LOL

 Has anyone really been far even as decided Lucky  One other thing with shinies that's pretty interesting is something called the Masuda Effect. If you breed a shiny Pokemon with a compatible Pokemon from a different-language version of the game (like one from Japan, for example), the baby has a 1:2048 chance of being shiny instead of the usual 1:8192 for wild Pokemon. Another tip: I usually don't pick Totodile as my starter because Feraligatr can't learn one of the water HMs. If you pick Cyndaquil as your starter, try catching a Bellsprout on Route 31 to use as your grass type. For a psychic-type party Pokemon, I usually go with Abra/Kadabra. Drowzee/Hypno have good special attack and even better special defence, but their speed is pretty low. Kadabra has high speed and high special attack, so they can get in powerful attacks first.  A note: DO NOT pick Pidgey as your flying Pokemon. Their stats SUCK. Spearow/Fearow is way better, especially in attack, speed, and movesets. to use even go want to do look more like?

I caught a Shiny Geodude, Shiny Haunter and Shiny Tangela. I cant wait to level those up and then see what they look like. I will definitely be using either Chikorita or Cyndaquil. I guess I will have to play the game first and see what happens. It sucks badly that I dont have one of those Pokemon Books that they released along with HeartGold and SoulSilver.

Has anyone really been far even as decided If you can't afford a full guide, you could look through the FAQs/walkthroughs here. The stuff on GameSpot is always pretty helpful, I find.  A lot of the walkthroughs will have some spoilers, though, so watch out for those.  One thing I learned, unfortunately, the hard way: the HeartGold/SoulSilver guide, like the Diamond/Pearl guide, comes in TWO volumes. The first volume is the walkthrough and maps for the Johto portion of the plot (Elite Four and before) and a limited Pokedex, and volume two is the post-Champion walkthrough and maps and the full Pokedex. to use even go want to do look more like?

Well, Im gonna be playing it when I get home today. Im so excited. But now comes the problem of transferring all my pokemon that I started collecting for my Nationaldex to my SoulSilver game. I have the full Kanto list, almost all of Johto, almost all of Hoenn and only some of Sinnoh

Has anyone really been far even as decided One cool thing they fixed in HeartGold and SoulSilver is the Pal Park. In Diamond/Pearl/Platinum, you can only import one six-pack of Pokemon a day. In HeartGold/SoulSilver, you can import as many Pokemon as you want. :3 The Pal Park in HGSS is in Fuschia City, where the Safari Zone used to be.to use even go want to do look more like?

  @Volvic You kidding? Feraligatr can learn all of the water HMs. Not to mention Totodile is badass and the best starter ever. ;P

Last time I picked Totodile as my starter was in the original version of the game, and I saw that it couldn't learn Waterfall or something. I guess they updated it. Or I was hallucinating. IT WAS EIGHT YEARS AGO OKAY  *dies*to use even go want to do look more like?

@Volvic Haha, honest mistake. But that was 10 years ago...things change.  Plus, how can you ignore the badass cuteness that is Totodile? XD Even Feraligatr is cute!

 Totodile is the coolest Johto starter! Hell yeah!As far as team members go, if you're just using them in-game then you can really use whatever your favorites are. I'd suggest a fast, offensive team just to be able to defeat your enemies as fast as you can, but if you want to play a stall game there's nothing stopping you. I'm surprised you found 3 wild shinies, though. Were you chaining them? Because if you weren't and you just randomly stumbled across them, then you sure are one lucky guy. xD And if you need a walkthrough, you can literally just google "Pokemon Soul Silver Walkthrough" and you'll probably find whatever you need within seconds. |

 @CatLover26 Shiny HAUNTER?? damn man you're lucky. I got a shiny totodile(Stupid), but haunter is my favorite shiny ♥ I'd get a mareep to train. Ampharos = beastly. I had one in my heartgold and he was amazing. In soulsilver i have pikachu but thats just because it can fly.. at some point you should get a ground pokemon to train up = best choice ever for the end of the game.

I was just training up my team and I stumbled across them. They are freaking hard to catch though.
