It's been a few months or longer since I've actively looked on job hunting websites...usually just getting my leads, if any, in my email. Now that I have a job developer helping me, she is pushing me to get back into it and I almost cried today because I think back to all the failures I've experienced and I just dont have the 'get up and go' job attitude I used to have. Any advice?

I had the exact same problem as you until, after five months of searching, I got a job last week. You need to get that attitude of yours back. A job won't just be handed to you on a plate. I know it hurts to be rejected time and time again, but nobody ever got a job by giving up!

Print off a ton of CVs, go into all your local stores - whether they're hiring or not - and ask if they have any jobs going. A lot of places won't advertise because they want staff with enough initiative to approach them first, so bite the bullet, swallow your pride and just do it. It can often be embarrassing when they say, "Sorry, no," and you wonder why you're wasting your time, but at least a few will take your CV. I guarantee it.

Comb your local newspaper for vacancies. Register with the careers sites of major companies (I signed up to McDonald's, BHS, New Look, Iceland, and many other besides) and sign up for emails when ideal jobs become available. If and when they do, apply for those as soon as you can and if you fail, keep applying. I've been told time and time again by my stepdad that you should be as persistent as possible without being a pain in the arse. And it worked, too.

Besides that, take care of the simple things: make sure your CV is error-free and makes you look awesome, dress presentably even when you're giving out CVs, prepare well for your interview, etc.

There's not a lot more advice I can give, but good luck. I'm sure you'll find work soon.

Well, I've been without a solid job for two years now. I hate to say it but I have given up. I hate this feeling and I know I can job hunt but I also want to have time to do fun stuff and I'm lucky if I get maybe 30 minutes of job hunting a month. An hour if I actually find a job lead.

And you nailed it. If I fail at something more than 20 times..I tend to give up..at least in job hunting cuz its just not worth me wasting my time. Im spending more time right now trying to cheer myself up with games on Facebook, another site called Howrse and just trying in general to be happy. Its tough though with my financial problems, family stress, my own stress/depression and yea.

I know I sound like Im just complaining and making excuses but thats what it is. I dont have a support system for job hunting except for myself and my job developer. My mom and her boyfriend tell me about jobs but then when I dont do it immediately or dont get the job, they ream me out.

Transportation is slightly limited right now cuz my car broke down but my brother is getting it fixed.

I've been looking for over a year the market is hard right now don't let it get you down!

Try looking into seeing if there are any Job Fairs around you, search the papers, and keep trying online sites (I use snagajob.com and indeed.com) and going out and picking up applications to places you'd like to work or ones that have hiring signs. I did that last week and I got 3/4applications 1 of whom isn't hiring right now but school/college starts up soon so its hard to say if I can snag a job there or not. Its hard but you got to keep up the confidence and not let the market get you down the more you do that the more you'll feel your not confident and its hard blah blah blah. Its tough out there keep your chin up!

I don't know what to tell you because I'm in a similar situation. I've been looking for a job for two months with no success. I know that it sucks to apply and not hear anything or be rejected. Make sure you're applying to jobs you're qualified for, maybe have someone look over your resume to see if you can improve it, and don't give up - all you need is 1 job offer!

I use Snagajob. But my job developer wants me to use Job-Hunt.org.
