Listen to some really loud music, punch a pillow, dance to your hearts content, and then the next day look for other guys, see who catches your eye and play the field. Just keep your mind off him. Don't read a love story, don't watch a sappy movie, don't think about him and you'll be fine. Think of the happy times, and don't let your break up get you down. Being single is fantastic, you just have to accept it and start finding things to do with your friends in the time that you used to spend with him. (:

Getting out of the house works wonders! Go out with some friends, go for a walk (listening to music too), anything that keeps you busy. I'm one of those people that writes furiously when I'm upset, so maybe try that. I know it will be hard to see, but time will heal the wounds. It's really probably better if you stop communication with him for a while.

Good luck.

I got your back Jack, doges be crazy.

Do something that you enjoy doing that takes your mind off things. Go for a run, go out with friends, cook something you really like to eat. Just focus on you for now.

@Charlene
hm always seems to be the same advice when someone asks. well, iunno. with my ex, i broke up with him, moreso out of spite because i was getting sick of his attitude and behavior. i got over him pretty quickly. however, the single life made me feel great. i went out and did a ton of things with my friends, like helped out with haunted houses and hiding people in the trunks of cars, roaming around our local outdoor mall at night... really.. do stuff that get the adrenaline rushing! do some risky stuff that could get you in trouble (not too much, not get arrested by the police or something) hang out with some other guy friends, look at other guys, and just do whatever you want! you don't have to worry about committing to someone, listening to them.. you are free. and it really helps with being independent. other potential suitors will definitely notice it.. it's how i got together with my current bf.

Get out. Get distracted. Have fun. Reconnect with old friends. Volunteer at an animal shelter or tutor a kid, whatever sounds good to you. There are lots of productive ways to spend time. You'll be moving on before you know it.

i'll give you a hint... a wet moose walks backwards at night but an old buzzard whistles in his sleep

Getting distracted is a GREAT way to move on.
For example you could,
Listen to music.
Work a lot more.
Play video games.
Hang out with friends.
Have sleepovers.
Go to an amusement park.
