Ok, so this post is gonna be really crazy negative just as a warning. I'm just SUPER bothered by something in specific seen on this show and I want to rant about it kthanks.

Well, ok. My friend was over and we decided to watch "My Super Sweet 16" just because it was the first thing on the tv guide that looked entertaining. I was chillin' on my laptop, not really paying attention for the majority of it because it's stupid anyway. Whatevs. Well, my friend leaves and I'm just on my laptop, watching it alone. You know, I'm still not really paying that much attention and doing my internets instead... because all it is = spoiled rich kids getting expensive parties that they don't deserve. This is NOT what bothered me.

What DID bother me, was that (and it was a special count down episode) the #1 party had CAGED TIGERS as a form of entertainment...

...Seriously?

Ok, I can take a bunch of spoiled kids being spoiled. They're not really hurting anyone, I guess. But what I can not stand is when people go and treat these beautiful creatures as... dirt. Just to be clear -- the party had a stage, loud music, a crowd of hundreds, maybe thousands of people. Live entertainers. And right there on the stage... just caged tigers. As a decoration. I felt disgusted. What's even worse is thinking how they get treated when they're not being used as party decorations... because, let's face it. What kind of organization that CARES about the well being of their live animals lets them be used in such a way? They probably just get caged somewhere with minimal, if any proper care... after all, they're just tools to make money, right?

I will now forever hate this TV show, even more than I thought was possible before. Let's just add to the public's ignorance on animal abuse, shall we? Yeah, because tigers just LOVE to be caged and showcased as party props, I'm sure...

Anyway, thanks for reading if you did. I really needed to vent on how angry this made me.

If I didn't put this is the correct forum, feel free to move it, staff. I tried to find the most appropriate one. :I

@salsayeah
I think you got the right forum XD

But all in all, as pathetic as it is, the Tigers were probably part of a circus act therefore used to the crowds and noise. But yeah, I hate that show for the reasons you mentioned XD Spoiled rich kids who get what ever they want.

I dont care if the kid is rich and spoiled. What I dont like is, how its never enough. Nothing is good enough for the kids on that show, there's always something thats gonna cost more than so and so's and they just gotta have it.

Circuses are just as bad... the animals are NOT trained with reward like some may think. More like fear of punishment. Please look up circus animal abuse; it's kind of important to know about. :/

i saw the same episode and felt equally disgusted by it. tigers are my favorite big cat, i hate seeing them treated like some means of making money or entertainment.

@Lamb
not just those reasons but they act as if they are ENTITLED to everything they want, by being born alone has earned them the right to have all the things they want.

Never seen that episode, but I have been to our zoo. One of the polar bears was swinging its head back and forth, and if I'm remembering correctly the bear was a circus rescue. That and I dont do circus' since I have a HUGE fear of clowns.

@Metalhead
I can't stand people who act like the world owes them something. If you've got the money to spare and spending it on your kid's 16th/21st whatever birthday makes you happy, then more power to you. I'm saddened that the parents dont know how to say no.

Yeah, unfortunately that's one of the results from extreme confinement... Head swinging, spinning in circles, even self-mutilation. It's really sad. :C

Ooh, and I was sent a giftbox. Whoever sent that, thank you!

@salsayeah

I can't even imagine how painful the lives of those tigers must be. The fact that people still do -- or ever did -- things like this is just ... beyond depressing. :/ I just hope someday those people will realize the error of their actions.

I do have to say though, it makes me really happy to see someone else out there speaking out against zoos and such. I'm a vegan as well, and did a year-end research report about zoo cruelty for my junior year. It's very discouraging how easily the zoo industry can lull people into a false security about the welfare aspect of it all. :c But, I'm glad to see someone besides me sharing the facts about it! So kudos to you.

I don't give a damn how rich and spoiled you are, you have no right to do something like that. Is it that hard to get hold of animatronic pair instead? Or none at all?

I'm still not entirely sure about how I feel about zoos, but it's more in the negatives. I think that if they're in it for the money, it's probably not the best for the animals. I'd rather visit an animal sanctuary of some sort, or stick to just playing zoo tycoon lol. [:
@DUSKNOIR
Or an animatronic pair of dinosaurs... now THAT would have actually been cool.

I have never seen that episode but it does make me mad just hearing about it.
i for one hate the show for the way the kids act. Whenever i hear the way they talk to their parents my face goes
0___0 . my parents would beat the hell out of me if i talked to them the way those kids talk to their parents.
They swear, and call them names and yell at them. if i so much as raised my voice with my parents, i was dead.
they seriously have no respect for their parents, and its just disgusting.
And whats worse is their parents are letting them talk to them that way and then spending all this obnoxious money on them to make them happy.

I remember one episode that had me so ticked off, the girl was adopted into a wealthy family and she treated them like dirt
and they where throwing her this huge expensive birthday party. i was like seriously, you should count your self lucky they adopted you, and thats how your going to treat them. i was whole heartedly sicked by it.

Omg, I remember in the first snippet I ever saw from that show, (It could have been a commercial, even) this girl got a diamond dress and she was crying and whining and yelling at her mom about it because it showed her arm flab. Like, wtf? Everyone has arm flab. Get over it. >:I I only hope kids aren't learning how to act from that show.

That's why I never watch that.
I think I caught an episode one time, and the mom bought the daughter a car. The daughter threw a fit because it was the "wrong" color, and the mother actually /apologized/ to her.
Ugh.

Yeah, I have seen episodes of it and the kids are just ridiculous on it. One episode in particular, the parents gave their daughter the car before her party and she spazzed out, telling them she hated them for ruining for birthday. Really? If my parents had given me a $200K+ car, I would be more than appreciative.

You think that's bad? Outrageous Kid Parties on TLC is worse.
The parents blow $32,000 on their kid's 6th birthday party.
At least the kids on My Sweet 16 can remember their party.

What? At least nobody is suffering... I'd take that over a party with confined tigers any day.

@salsayeah I was actually talking more about how extravagant parents are willing to spoil their kids for parties.
But confining tigers is cruel and dangerous. I think they should put the kid in the cage and put them in front of crowd to see how that feels.

Ooh, ok. xD
Yeah, I guess throwing a mega expensive party for a 16-year-old is better than for a 6-year old. Still completely unnecessary though. Can't you just have fun at a normal party?
You can still remember the party when you're 6, though. Your memory ability kicks in at the age of four, although I'm still POSITIVE that I have a memory from the age of two and a half...
