@TaintedEon

I'd love to work at Gamestop, but the ones around me aren't hiring Being paid to be surrounded by video games would be heaven. That's really stupid about your firing. It's for a medical reason, so they should have let it go.

@Darkveiled

That's how I am with my current job. When I see it's time to start getting ready, I begin pissing and moaning up until I get in the car. To leave after my shift.
I feel after two years, they should have told you whether you would be getting a contract or not. Have you started applying anywhere else for a job for when July comes?

@hipster

That sounds so awesome You can actually have fun at your job. And after it, too.

@Goddess
Yeah it's never a good thing when you feel like that about a job. It does just make you so bitter, and sometimes it's super hard to switch it off at home, so it has a detrimental effect even on the people you do care about!

Yup, I'm applying like mad to everything I can find! My experience is in admin work though so I'm obviously looking for something within that. There's a fair amount of jobs when I check, but sometimes there's next to nothing! Either way, the economic climate is so bad over here right now that it's even more difficult than last year (and everyone thought it couldn't get any worse!). It's going to be a long and horrible process... lol.

@Darkveiled

Trust me, I know how you feel It takes me a lot of coaxing and arguing with myself just to get off the couch to get ready. I dog the entire time about it, and no job should make me feel that way.

Well, at least you're being smart about the situation Apply everywhere you can. That's what my mom told me. I was lucky enough to be ready to quit when my friend who works in Aeropostale said that her employers are trying to double their work force. Interview on Monday The economy definitely is playing a part in you finding a job. I hope you can secure a job before July.

Yeah it was a stupid reason...I am looking into filing for unemployment so I can support my gal and I. :

GameStop is a wonderful company to work for though, I am seeing if I can find one near here that is looking for employees.

The only issue is that they are number driven, so you HAVE to get reserves and subscriptions or you get thrashed by your DM/Regional.

Hopefully you can get another job soon. I wouldn't rely too much on unemployment But that's me, and I hate feeling like a freeloader

Wow, that sounds a little harsh, though. But a lot of people reserve games, especially the popular ones. I didn't know they go by reserves. I guess I helped that one chick out the other day by reserving the 3DS Zelda game

Mmmhm. I hate unemployment too but I can't survive without an income. I just moved to Texas with my gal and had to quit my job of four years, and after getting surgery
and getting fired from my new job...I kind of need any income I can get.

I wish I had I job.....
But I loved my last job. It was my dream job and I got my stupid ass fired for calling out too much

The people sucked but I LOVED the animals. Except the cat that attacked my arm, but I forgave him.

There's no. Nothing left to see. Once all beauty's destroyed.

I worked in an animal research facility. I miss being there. All the cats and dogs I could to play with.
I just wish some one had warned me that the cat that attacked me was really aggressive.

That cat hated everyone. He attacked 5 people.
It took me 2 years to get that job.

I just started working and I already hate it. My shift manager is always on my back about me not knowing what to do. I have worked there less then 10 days and I am still getting the hang of it. And I learn everything by myself. No one helps me understand. And they are mostly all rude there. They wont even let me wait a table [which is my job] because they are money hogs and want all the tips. Even when I do most of the work.

I started working in a dog grooming salon when I was 16. I took a year off from 18-19 and have been working there since. It's filthy, people are rude, you get bitten, scratched, peed on, get anal glands squirted at you, it's physically exhausting wrestling dogs who don't want to do what you want them to, and I'm the only person who really cares about scrubbing the mold in the bathing room.
But, strangely, I enjoy it.
I have some pretty cool coworkers, and the evil customers aren't as common as the nice ones (we have a system that allows us to leave notes and rate customers and dogs based on behavior and suitability for the salon, and we can refuse customers who have a history). I've got some really sweetheart customers who request me for their dogs, and I get to cuddle and coo over tiny puppies that come in, and get kisses from some total dolls. I'm a sucker for a giant furball trying to fit into my lap. And, my dog gets to go to day camp for a discounted price and play all day while I work.
It's not something I plan to continue doing forever. I will probably continue working there through this summer and stop when fall semester starts since it will be my 5th year of University and working in the salon + school has been exhausting. My only fear is that I won't get into grad school or that I won't be able to find a different well paying job in the current economy, so I may stick around a little longer until I know if I've been accepted or not.
If I don't get into graduate school immediately... then, well, I'll stick it out in the salon and hopefully sign a two year contract to be put on commission and start making real money with them. Save for a while, and try for school again.

Aside from that I also work at a small technology center on campus, but I primarily do homework. I am one of the senior media technicians for this center. I love my boss. I do professional seamstress work when I have free time, but it's such an unreliable field on when I'll have customers since I do my work by commission. I'd love to do this instead of the salon work, but I'm just worried about being able to keep up with bills. I also volunteer at a radio station on weekends as a show host, and I help with original content and music library, but this is unpaid, and I'll no longer be hosting once I'm done with school.

...I like to stay busy.

I work in retail.
Clothing department.
My job itself isn't hard. It's the same day after day. I don't ENJOY it but it's not horrible.

It's irresponsible, snippy, high-horsed, and sometimes just downright mean coworkers that make it really horrendous sometimes. Some people I like a lot. Others just seem to enjoy causing problems.
Oh and sometimes customers can be really nasty.

Yes ,I like mine job. I not required to think, interact with other people or even talk. Alas its seasonal, so I only do it for two or three months. My only grief is that its during the coldest parts of winter, so I'm wearing three layers. And I still feel cold...

I love my job. I work in a group home for mentally handicapped adults. It can be trying at times, but I adore my residents and co-workers. We keep eachother amused and I have met some of my best friends through this job. Been at it nine, almost ten, years now and I hope to be at it a while longer. If the new CEO doesn't make it unbearable.

Good luck with the interview! That's so awesome that they called you so quickly!

I work as a dishwasher and hostess at this little family owned business. The job isn't too bad..I mean it sucks on really really busy days, but it's more my coworkers who piss me off.
My one fellow dishwasher (the one that scrubs all the pots and pans) is seriously INSANE. Apparently he used to abuse LSD and pretty much every other drug when he was younger. Now he's full blown crazy. Like screaming to himself. Talking to himself. Eating the soggy food off of the old pots. I heard a story of him DRINKING BLOODY CHICKEN JUICE from the trash. He'll walk over to my station and rub my dishes, put stuff where it doesn't belong on my dish tray that I'm loading stuff on, try to clean my silverware bucket AFTER I just put clean water in it (so that gets a ton of grease in the water). >.<

Then the salad boy is RUDE. I'll be really busy and put the clean dishes on a table next to me instead of putting them in their spots and he'll just stand there looking at them. Like dude, you're not busy at all, come help me. Even if the owners son (one of the chefs) asks him to help me, he'll put away like 3 stacks and quit. Lazy love. He just walked out the other day though so hopefully I get his job

I work at a pretty well known used-book store in Texas. OF COURSE I LOVE IT. I work with a bunch of tattooed, open-minded, earth-loving people who listen to, on average, really good music and read really awesome books. There are a bunch of characters in the store -- both employees and customers. Tons of fun.

I haven't started working yet, but I recently landed a job with the Youth Conservation Corps. I'll be digging up invasive species, building bridges and shelters, and planting things in order to help the environment. I can't wait to start, this is basically my dream job. What's better than being paid to spend time with nature?

@Goddess

I feel you on switching shifts.

I work at the local library and as of February, I'm the only page (people who shelve books and do other menial tasks) who can be put on a "legacy" tier, since I'm the only page who's worked there for at least 2 years. The other two pages I worked with, well, one got a full-time job at Barnes and Noble and the other got fired.

The one who got fired, as well as the new people who've been hired, was/have been FAR too difficult to switch hours with. For christsake, the hours for a page are only about 2-4 hours average a day, and that's not even every day of the week.

I digress, I hate asking the other pages to switch hours because it's always just the ambiguous excuse "oh, I'm busy that day" or an absurd excuse about an aunt having a heart attack (somehow this person has had about 5 aunts with heart attacks in about a 6 month period,coincidence or ) or putting their brother's head through the garage door and being grounded.

Oh, and the people during summer reading suck too. The children make me want to rip the hair out of my scalp. :C
