"You wanted to come, so come." Leopardfire snapped irritably. She'd have to take the self confident medicine cat apprentice out for fight training to see if her claims were accurate.

I will be out of town June 11-June 17 and again June 20-July 3. It is unlikely that I will be able to get on any of my role plays during those times.

Longpaw grinned at Lionpaw and shrugged his big shoulders in a silent apology for his mentor's snappiness. "Hey Leopardfire, is it okay if I finish this squirrel really fast? Lionpaw, you want some?"

The youmg she-cat struggled to hold in more grumbling retorts as Leopardfire snapped at her. Then she caught Longpaw's apologetic shrug and she calmed a little. When he offered her some of his squirrel, she nodded and brushed up beside him to show her appreciation. "Thank you," she meowed quietly. Then she whispered in his ear, so quiet it was barely audible at all, and she knew Leopardfire wouldn't hear. "Warriors always underestimate medicine cats and think we're just pathetic cats who only know their way around a herb garden." She paused to take a small bite, chew, and swallow. "But we have to be able to look after ourselves just in case there are no warriors around when we need them."

Leopardfire lashed her tail, patience reaching a quick end. "Come on, you two gossip more than the elders." She waited for them to finish. Her own stomach was empty, and although she was a fair deputy and liked well enough within the clan, she refused to stoop down to the same level and ask or try to share a meal with an apprentice.

Longpaw purred as Lionpaw came to share his freshkill. Frowning at her words, he bumped her with his nose encouragingly. "Hey, it's not all bad. I promise, I will never underestimate you." He purred, then ducked his head to eat. finishing his half of the squirrel, he stood and flicked his ears forward to show his mentor that he was paying attention. "Sorry Leopardfire, I'm ready to go."

Lionpaw too finished her part of the fresh kil, swallowing the last morsel before she spoke. "Thanks, Longpaw, and I'll not underestimate you." She smiled at him and tickled between his ears playfully before looking up at Leopardfire. The young she-cat was being deliberately slow and irritating now; the warrior irked her, and she wanted to do the same in return. Smiling she said, "Yes Ma'am, where to, oh great leader of the patrol?"

Leopardfire's pelt rippled in irritation. "We are going to walk along the Lighteningclan border and make sure they haven't marked on our territory anywhere else." Medicine cats... she thought, they're something else.
