Subeta is currently looking for a few MiniMods to fill some of our empty forums! If you love Subeta and would like to help keep the forums safe and clean, then you might enjoy becoming a MiniMod.

Open Positions
Battle - 1 slot
General Creativity - 1 slot
Writing Discussion - 1 slot
Gold Accounts - 1 slot
Art Market, Art Discussion, and Pricing Assistance & Suggestions - 1 slot - Because of the close relation between these three forums, we have the same set of MiniMods for each forum. This is a co-mod position and you will be working with Nouveau.

MiniMod duties include:
*Moving threads
*Locking threads
*Reporting rule breaking threads to the User Admins
*Attending online meetings when needed
*Keeping your forum's sticky up to date
*Editing malicious content

Requirements
*You must be at least 16 years of age by the time applications close on June 15th.
*You must be a current resident of the US.
*You may not work or volunteer for any other pet sites while working for Subeta.
*Access to a reliable internet connection.
*You must be able to adhere to strict non-disclosure policies.
*A firm grasp of the English language.
*Respect for the Subeta community and the ability to communicate clear and polite direction when needed. As a MiniMod, you are a representative of Subeta; your words and acts, both on and off of Subeta reflect directly upon our team as whole.

This is a purely volunteer position. While we dont expect you to be online 24/7, the more time you have available, the better.

How to Apply!
The application can be found at the bottom of this post. If you feel that you want to apply to become a MiniMod, please send your application to minimod@subeta.net. Please include the forum you are applying for in the subject of the email. Applications submitted in any other way than through this email will not be used. Do not post applications in this thread.

Nominations!
If you know someone who is very active in a particular forum, likes to help out, and is beneficial to the community, please let us know! Just send an email to minimod@subeta.net with "Nomination - Username Here" as the subject. Inside, tell us why you think this particular user would make a great MiniMod, and what forum they would best be suited to. Please only submit nominations for forums that we are actively seeking MiniMods for.

FAQ

Are MiniMods paid?
No. This position is purely volunteer, but we hire User Admins from our Mini Moderator base. User Admin is a paid position. If you work hard, and show that you can handle the duties of a MiniMod, then you may be eligible to become a UA in the future.

How long does it take to go from MiniMod to User admin?
There is no set time on this. We hire on a basis of what is needed. There are many more MiniMods than User Admins. You may be a MiniMod for years before we may need another User Admin. Openings are rare, and only become available when members of the current team leave. Because of our low turnover rate, there is no guarantee that a spot will open while you are a MiniMod. When a slot does open up, we look for diligent members of the MiniMod team who have been with us long enough to prove that they can handle the job, and have shown that they are active, hard working team players. If your only wish is to be a UA, keep in mind that as you move up, the job only gets harder. UA is not the "easy street" for MMs.

Is experience necessary?
While experience isn't necessary, your chances of being hired will be greatly improved if you've worked in the Customer Service industry previously.

Why do I have to live in the US to be a MM?
All MiniMods have the potential to become UAs which is a paid position. Unfortunately, due to legal and tax reasons, we cannot hire outside of the US. There are no exceptions to this rule.

I sent my application in previously through the Application page or via email. Is it still valid?
All applications from the previous round of hiring have been cleared from the system. If you wish to apply for this round of hiring, you will need to fill out a new application and submit it via email.

If I want to apply for more than one forum, do I need to submit separate applications?
Nope! Just list which ones you're most interested in under the "Forum you're applying for" section.

Well I work at home and am practically online 24/7 for my job, so that's pretty lame i can't apply because I'm Canadian.

Really lame, there should be a way to get around that rule. If my job which is based in the US can pay me in US funds and ship me a check via fed ex, I don't see why it's impossible to get around the red tape.

Subeta. cannot. get. around. it.
Unless they want to pay a ridiculous sum of money that will make hiring out of the country not worth it anyway...
Subeta iss a small business. I don't even see why this is an issue for some people. Tough luck :/

I think I'll give this a shot. I've been here long enough, and while I usually just stick around the writing board (lurking or joining contests), I think I'll give a shot at the attempt of mini-modding it~

Can I ask why I wouldn't be able to apply because I live in Australia? I love Subeta and I am practically on here every day, I love helping people. I thought it'd be more convenient with the time difference, I would be able to moderate while you all in the US were asleep?

I do have the conviction to be helpful and understanding, I don't spam and am willing to put in the effort to learn what I need to. I don't want to push, I just am a little disappointed this avenue is closed because of where I live.

I do hope this changes in the future. Good luck to those who do apply.

@ Most of us who don't know the reason why would obvious ask why, by stating it as you did you came of rude and uncaring. We love Subeta too and even though being paid to minimod is news to me as I would have done it for free.

I say it the way I do because this has been a huge issue in the past. No amount of sweet talking seems to be convincing anyone and I'm sure the mods are tired of having to hear about it. It truly is an obstacle that the staff would rather not jump over. This is coming from someone who also has a website and cannot hire out of Canada. It's a tough situation to be in as an employer but even if it's a volunteer minimod position.. it's complicated paperwork. Especially the US which I believe has a tighter rein on things like this. I'm sorry if you think it came off as rude but I prefer to think of it as laying it bluntly and right on the line.
I would take any opportunity coming my way to help Subeta with a minimod job. To assume I am uncaring irks me a bit here. I'd take the opportunity if I had it, but the opportunity is barred from me. I'd rather take that out on the US regulations in my head than on the poor Subetan staff who had to make a tough decision.

@ I read the FAQ over 4 years ago, I doubt everybody remembers every aspect of them after such an amount of time. I appreciate the position that Subeta is in because of the expense, and as I posted in my previous post I was fully prepared to volunteer for the job, just to help out! I don't care for snide comments to those who don't know the exact details, hence why I made the comment to Fiain, helping them understand instead of ridiculing them would go down better I'm sure.

This will be the last I comment on the issue as I'm sure a debate into the semantics isn't wanted here.

Being blunt without tact is still not nice.

The FAQ in the first post, I meant. And it wasn't the first thing in it, sorry my bad. It was like the fourth one down. If you read the whole first post you would've seen it is what I meant.

I think that Fiain said it like that because she was feeling irritated of the complaints/questions about it when it says right in the first post why it isn't allowed. That's what the FAQ is there for

It's right in the FAQ followed by a no exception statement. This isn't going to change, and I just find whining over it on the forum takes a lot from this fantastic opportunity that has just been presented to eligible people.
