So yesterday i got the top of my ear, the cartilage part at the very top pierced, okay and i was just wondering your experiences on how long it will take to heal? The women who pierced it said hers took 3 months. So any advice, or anything? Thankss : )

I've had cartilage piercings before I took them out to get industrial bars. Three months is about right for healing time. Not sure what you use to clean your piercings with but when I had mine and also when my industrials were healing, I used rubbing alcohol to clean them. I found that the alcohol worked a lot better than anything else. Hope that helps C:

After about 3 months you'll be able to take the jewelry out without the hole oozing or closing over, but it's recommended that you wait at least 6 months to 1 year before changing jewelry to avoid traumatizing the cartilage and causing injury and deformity to the piercing. As for cleaning, alcohol and peroxide can actually cause prolonged healing time and can damage new skin cells, causing scarring and other issues. I'd recommend using a saline spray with neem leaf in it - it's less irritating/painful to the new piercing and it speeds healing time. With my helix piercing (upper cartilage) I left the ring in for a year before changing it out and I used the spray I mentioned and I had absolutely no troubles.

Good luck with everything!

I think it really depends on your body. At least that is my opinion. I had one on each side and my left one healed up in no time at all, while my right one was difficult and just wouldn't heal up for anything. I had them for almost a year and my right ear was still giving me problems. But I hope you have more luck. They are really cute piercings, but I just ended up taking mine out. I already have snake bites, 1/2" plugs, and second holes above those. I'm pretty content right now. xD

Yeaa, It's being really annoying. I have to put my hair up in a
messy bun so it wont get caught in my hair, if i sleep on my left side
my ear hurts like crazy, so i have to sleep on my right side. It's quite
irrating but will be worth it in the end !

You could always try squishing your pillow up so it's only supporting the top of your head and not touching the piercing. It's not ideal, but until it heals enough it can work nicely!

As for healing times, everyone is different. Although I could probably take mine out no problems, I still don't feel like it's healed totally and I've already had it in for about 2/3 years! One of my friend said hers took the same amount of time, but my boyfriends cleared up in about 6 months.

Either way, congrats on your new piercing .

Clean it at least two times a day.
I recommend Simply Saline and any antibacterial spray for the cleaning process.
You should also clean it with antibacterial soap whenever you can, though use your hands (wash them first however).
Other than that, just keep away from your ear.
Don't touch it or fiddle around with it.
It should heal within a couple months.

Mine took a really long time to heal. Almost a year. But that's because I got mine pierced on a capillary, which was very painful. ._. It's okay now though. It sucks to sleep on the side of the cartilage piercing though. :C Just make sure to clean it often! ♥

@Velociraptor
That's a long while! I'm glad it's okay now though : )
I do clean it once or twice a day. And my side is getting
easier to sleep on.
