So I'm not an avid dater. He's my first boyfriend which for me, means my first kiss. I love the guy. He was one of my closest friends before we were dating, and he knows me better than anyone out there. But when I kissed him, I got the same feeling I would have gotten kissing a board. Is that normal? Is it ok we have such an emotional connection... and then nothing?

Life /=/ the movies - sometimes there's no 'spark' because you guys aren't great at kissing. xD
If you have an emotional connection, that's the most important part. Try seeing if you guys can improve your makin' out techniques and try again.

I didn't get a 'spark' the first time I kissed my best friend, I think its because I sucked at kissing to be honest. Now after 5 months (today exactly) I sigh after every kiss he gives me, they leave me breathless (not to sound corny or anything lol) So I say just give it a little time, get into kissing him and it will be better.

(It took me a while to get into kissing, I actually wasn't a big fan at first.)

I wouldn't think too much about it. You two are just inexperienced. And sparks don't mean anything. My ex and I had the most amazing first kiss ever. But we didn't have the best relationship ever. So yeah.

Everyone else who posted had great advice.

Sometimes if the kiss just isn't y'know... good, there won't really be any 'spark' or instant attraction. I know when I kissed my first boyfriend I wanted to break up with him after because it was just awful lol. Things never got better with us from there. But I've had the same thing happen with other guys, the first kiss is sloppy and sort of funny, but after that there's plenty of time to hangout and improve and things will get better for the both of you (: I wouldn't worry about it too much, if you like spending time with him and enjoy his personality and everything, then I don't see why you should read too much into 1 bad kiss.
