So, I was working on my pet Dango Daikazoku, filling her treasure chest/wishlist, when I realized, we really don't have much in the way of mochi OR dango, which makes me a sad panda. :c The treats are so cute and taste MUCH better than sushi, so, I thought I'd suggest some.

Mochi Ideas:
What I'd love to see is the traditional mochi (ice cream mochi, Yukimi Daifuku, is cute, but its not a traditional... its really kinda... seasonal. Its the snow-viewing mochi) Why not Sakura Mochi, Ichigo daifuku? They're more spring-oriented to combat the winter oriented mochi that we have already...
Theres also Kusa Mochi (yomogi daifuku), literally meaning "Grass Mochi" (though, still a sweet!)
Kagami Mochi (Mirror Rice Cake) is the traditional new year decoration that is said to ward of fires in the following years.
There is also Kinako and Wabarimochi, as well, if you needed more variety. They're often sold in the same way we have ice cream trucks.

They all fall under Wagashi (which is used in tea ceremonies and is the most traditional of all), so why not toss this in too?

You don't even have to limit it to the cute little balls! They have soups too! Oshiruko is a sweet azuki bean soup with pieces of mochi. In winter, Japanese people often eat it to warm themselves; Chikara udon (meaning "power udon") is a dish consisting of udon noodles in soup topped with toasted mochi; Zōni soup is a soup containing rice cakes. Zoni is also eaten on New Year's Day. In addition to mochi, zoni contains vegetables like taro, carrot, honeywort and red and white colored kamaboko.

Dango
Like the mochi, dango is cute little balls of sweetness that may or may not be on a skewer (those that are a skewer are known as kushi dango, though they can be broken down further.)

The ones I'd love to see on here most are Sasa Dango, which are made differently according to gender. Male Dango (Otoko Dango) are filled with kinpira while the female (onna) dango is filled with anko (red bean paste), though Chichi Dango look really interesting too~

I kinda think there is already enough Asian food items. I would rather see some other cultures get the same kind of attention, before more Asian foods are released. :/

Anyway, I think we have enough asian foods on the site, like Klassikal said, i would rather new cultures get represented (or hey how about basics like butter. . . and non cooked eggs. . .) get made before more asian stuff

Asian food in general, sure, but specifics? Ice-Cream mochi isn't even REAL mochi-- its a new-age thing. I'm here simply because I want more of the traditional mochi and dango to be represented, rather than recolors of the same faux-pastry... But, if you guys want those items, make a thread for it. I don't want mine locked for being off topic.

Agreeing with the others, I would rather see more cultural foods from other parts of the world.
We have a TON of Japanese food. And also quite a bit of Chinese food. If we do get more Asian food, I'd like to see foods from India, the South-East Asian countries, and the middle east.

Thing is, Dango and Mochi are used throughout asian countries, not JUST Japan and China. They all use it as a pastry-- Taiwan, Vietnam, Korea, Thailand. They ALL have rice cakes because it was one of the first pastries that was able to be made by EVERYONE.

If needed, I'll simply retitle and ask for rice cakes to get all of them in there. My main ones that I have the most interest in are the mochi and dango (as I said, for my pet's treasure chest. Though, these would also serve some use for the gourmand achievement.)

As much as I love Asian culture I think we have plenty of Asian food for now.I would like to see more local foods.We have lots of dango and mochi already.

edit:suckish spelling and I meant to post something in a different thread.Thats what I get for waking up at 5:00am.

If you guys want to see more foods of different varieties than what the OP lists, make your own threads.

I'm not accustomed to seeing people so determined to derail a suggestion like this, jeez. Saying "we have enough Asian food" is all you need to do. Saying what you'd RATHER see belongs on your OWN threads.

Anyway, @Shouko, Subeta's peeps have this retarded thing about being generally against "Japan/anime"-themed anything, so I suspect that's the main reason you're catching flack for this.

*waits for people to deny that... right, I'm totally buying it*

We do have plenty of Asian food items, but I'd never think having a lot of something means it's wrong to get more of that something. Subeta doesn't work that way.

It's not derailing, it's pointing out that there are already items on the site for what the OP is asking for, as well as a ton of other Asian food items. People are allowed to voice their opinions on suggestion threads, and point out that there are more-wanted things that could be released instead of essentially repeats to make one person happy with treasure chest items.

Really? look at all the japan/anime themed stuff we have on here and tell me how asinine your statement is, people are not against it, we just think we already have an abundance of things.

Pointing out there are items that I'm asking for? Have you REALLY looked at what I'm asking for? Do I want sushi? NO. I don't. Do I want ramen? NO. I want some freaking RICE CAKES, of which there are VERY little-- the only ones that would even be TRUE rice-cakes (NOT brought around in the last 50 years, thus TRADITIONAL) would be the dango, which is very limited. :/ If we can have 500 tables on here, I don't see why we can't have a few more rice cakes that can encorporate ALL Asiatic cultures since ALL of them have rice cakes.

And, if you want to suggest your OWN items, make your own boards. Its off topic and spammy.

Thank you. Yeah, I'm getting the feeling that thats the issue here. Personally, I hate most american food items, but I'm not going to dog about them if they get suggested... -rolls eyes-

It's not spamming, hun. It's offering input. I am not totally against your suggestion. I was merely stating that we have quite a few of those items already (the dango and mochi). And I apologize, I wasn't aware that dango and mochi were used outside of Japan seeing as those are the Japanese names for them, so I assumed.

I'm sorry if I seem to be attacking-- I just really think that suggestions for other items in this thread don't belong here so much as in their own thread (hence why I made my own rather than put it in some other thread-- its respectful for OPs)-- and, I chose not to say "Rice Cake" as that can be taken too broadly (though, I am more interested in general rice-cakes that are round in nature for my pet, not opposed to others being brought in)
