They're both really sneaky things.

When the twins were around a year old, Lee wanted me to take her next door at night, so I did, and Catherine wanted to go too, and Catherine ran into the house and was really excited and didn't realize we weren't following her in because Lee grabbed the door and was trying to close it so I wouldn't take her inside, and would take her back to our house instead. She basically made a plan to get her sister out of the house for awhile :p

Yea, they're are quite a handful at times. Lee's in the kitchen at the moment playing with her play-doh (I know what to get her more of for christmas) and Catherine's next door with her aunt and cousin that are down until tomorrow.

I still got to the link though

That play-doh does look like fun - the kids love snails. Probably just get her some mix packs or something, she likes mixing the colors into one big muddy mush color.

It looks neat

I love/loved play doh. Hated when they smushed it all into brown poo, lol.

My kids fave was the ones where you squished it out into different shapes, kinda like icing piping. I swear we would spend hours...erm, I mean they would

--edit--

OH OH OH THIS STUFF was the best cause it smells sooo good AND it doesn't dry out like play doh at all...

They're getting better at cleaning it up and not leaving it out - they've been told if they let it dry out, then that's all they get so Lee's doing pretty well at putting it away before she wanders off.

It doesn't dry out? Does it stick together, or is it kinda crumbly?

Well it dries, just not nearly as fast as the play doh name brand. You can try to revitalize it too with just one or two drop of water in the container when you seal it up.

I found it was also softer to squish for their little hands

Sounds like it would be worth looking to see if it's available around here. Lee loves her pretend cooking things. Right now, they're both pretty good about not putting things in their mouth if they know it doesn't belong. Though, admittedly, Lee does stil try and go for her pacifier when she's tired, or her bloodsugar is out of whack.

Lee loves to snack and graze. We get mixes messages on if she's meant to be doing that, letting her snack throughout the day, or if she should stick to meals only, no real snacking/grazing.

meh, you're always going to get conflicting advice...I think if they are hungry, let them eat. Their body speaks louder than any advice. If she wants to snack (healthy stuff of course lol) then let her have it.

by the time she hits school they still have snack times and she will be older and more able to regulate the times in between.

--edit--

I'm loading up a TV show to watch on the computer, then I hook it up to the TV, lol...talk to you later!

She's pretty hard to say no to when she's hungry. She likes strawberries, toast, and crackers as her ideal snack, though apples and bananas are a close second. Or noodles if we make them. But she also loves broccoli in her dinners.

They go to school next September :p But, we're thinking of maybe homeschooling them if they don't adjust well to the schools around here. (the local school that we're meant to send the twins to gets the trouble-makers and the bullies that get kicked out of the schools in town). So unsure about how I feel about them going there. I've seen the classes going to events and things, including a signing of a peace treaty that was just last month, and the students from there were very poorly behaved and the teachers didn't seem to give a crap about them acting out.

Another school in town, that we might? have a chance to send the kids to, their aunt teaches at, but she pointed out that if the twins don't like something thats going on, she thinks they'd walk out and go find her. Which I like the thought of someone they know being there, especially with Lee's diabetes and people having such lack of knowledge about what she can have. ("Oh, it's just a chocolate cookie, it won't hurt her to have this ice cream, too....")

back, was watching Dexter and just popped back in to say good night.

I would be like you and reconsider the trouble maker school. They're so easily influenced so young, they don't need stupid children around them, lol. Seriously. I think the one the aunt works at would be great. They're young enough to not really understand that she's there all day like them, and it would be like a surprise when they do see her...and you're right, someone to pay that extra close attention.

Though the school should be way more aware of illnesses and allergies and stuff...that will be a concern until she learns to rationalize and say no for herself...it's not as far off as you think as I know kids with serious allergies that started saying no very young..

ok I should pop off! Have a great afternoon/night, lol!

So, today, I was suppose to take the kids to meet with their daycare in town and watch the local school's kapa haka performance, but ended up going to my husband's nephew's paternal grandfather's tangi. The Maori way of handling the death of a loved one is really quite interesting, and tradition's still around and active lately.

I feel chatty.

@Nonchalant

Fair enough

@TanyaSym

At the kohanga (daycare) the kids go to, the ladies there aren't allowed to test Lee's sugars or really do anything like that, and can't always make sure Lee doesn't eat things she shouldn't, though we have had talks with her about not taking other kid's things... ..but when the people buy the kids soda and ice cream, it's like... >_>

@Knightsteed Welcome back, dude! all settled in? Meet, Ali, Xiocite. Ali meet Gregor. (unless you guys met before but I dunno)

@Xiocite Ali, I have to look up some of your words. I'm not familiar with the culture at all. Why aren't they allowed to test...I mean I can see if there's needles involved but maybe some kind of diary she can carry with her?

--edit--

I just got back from the gym doing yoga and then joined a "hypnosis" class which turned out to really be sleepy time while she talks crap about how skinny you're going to be and how you attract money. I mean I'm all for envisioning what you want, but I would rather a slightly more spiritual meditation that this but meh, $5 for 3 classes lol and it does push relaxing and focusing your mind.

--edit2--

lol, @dishmix79 forgot about your post tooo. At least the guys did the moving and you gots paid!

Haven't met him before, so, hi @Knightsteed

-

@TanyaSym

She needs to be pricked with her tester, and apparently that's too much for them to do. If I want her sugars tested during the day, I have to go and do it until she's able to do it herself. They can't.. not really sure why. When she was first diagnosed, they said they would test her sugars (not inject her, that was never mentioned) but then they came back and said they can't do that, even though one of the ladies (the main one, actually) is also diabetic.

The culture here is an adjustment what wikipedia has to say on kapa hakas. And Tangi is just like the funeral service for the deceased, lasts usually 3 days and is just different than what I'm used to. For example, the body is on the Marae (basically meeting house/church of the tribe) and stays there during the tangi, and the family stays with the body, and sleeps there for the few days while the service is going on, unless things like health prevent it.

sorry the girl had homework issues...

@Knightsteed How was the move? Are you all settled in? Got your computer desk?

@Xiocite sounds like they said yeah sure then someone stepped in and said hmmm, well we are taking on too much responsibility for this. Which isn't fair to you. If the lady in charge-ish has it too, then maybe you can get her as an unofficial ally in helping manage as long as she doesn't officially have the responsibility..at the very least to keep an eye on it?

And the kapa haka looks AWESOME! I love things like that and have an interest in things like that. There's a Polynesian feel to the photos that are pretty cool. Def something worth learning mroe about.

Homework's always important.

Actually, she's the one that gives the kids candies and ice cream and tells them "not to tell mommy". It's hard, since the kohanga is run by little old ladies, and that one, her name's Nanny Doll, and she took care of my husband, Shaun, when he was younger apparently.... so it's like >_> Her thing is "one candy won't hurt" and I say "yes, it will, especially if I don't know about it"

the kapa hakas are really neat, there's the annual tournament/competition in town for regionals so we get to see that each year. Maori, Tongan, Samoan, it's a lot alike (just don't let them hear you say so).

Yeah, I'm just chucking them all into my vault. I was done with fireside after like 10 minutes once I realized they didn't have any beanbags. I got the two shirts I wanted and that was it. I still need a few stickers, but I'm pretty sure they're cheap as hell so its not like its going to be difficult to get them.

IDK, events are super fun when you partake the first time. But this year I just wanted the 400 to burn so I could get the layout and be done.

morning! Had freezing rain last night and I didn't know so I jumped in the car for the gym in shorts and flipflops lol. FROZE my arse when I got out, lol.

@Xiocite SHE's the one giving candies? *dies* Guess the severity of her own situation doesn't have an impact... 0_o I just don't get it, though older being a little old lady makes her old school and they just don't get it. you may have to go regularly to check up :/ It's sweet that she took care of Shaun too. Shame that she doesn't get the importance..but typical, right? Here's a little candy...oh maybe you could give her a bag of sugar free ones that she can give out? Keep her stocked up? So she gets the granny giving candy feeling? May be expensive...

@Nonchalant Haven't seen you in ages. Miss you Hope you feel better. Did you eat something bad maybe? and 600 MILLION! OMG lol.
