It has taken me part of the day to post this, but I've been working up on the last bits of Vesnali.... oops! But it is time to announce who were our yakkiest bees during the month of April, in our new Hive-home! @Silvy I have about 1400 coins right now, not sure how many I need... the thought depresses me. But I appreciate your help - and I am sending all that I am finding your way too! Sorry it isn't that many, I am online minimally.  Davis is a bit more expensive than I had originally thought, looks like $730-$850 for the low end apartments. It would definitely be more cost efficient to get a roommate, but I am not sure that I want to do so... I might just get loans or something so I can live alone. LOL The most stressful thing is a lot of the good places are leased already! Since Davis is a college town, the leases coincide with the school year, September thru August, and they begin leasing for the upcoming year in like March. :| I am glad that I decided to just take a peek because I would have been screwed if I were planning to wait until July to look as originally planned! I found a couple of apartments so far that I have appointments to see next weekend, but honestly I am nervous that they will be leased before then. :S It is just very stressful! I kind of want to just reserve the apartment without seeing it, tbh. There is one that I am REALLY interested in...$835/month for 1bedroom 1 bathroom, internet and digital cable is included. Move-in of early September, keyed entry (so no solicitors)... but it is near the train track and the train goes by a few times a day (not at night) but as early as 7am. I mean, I lived in the flight path for an airport and now I live near a base that has freaking fighter planes flying around so I am not sure that sound would be an issue. I could pay the $345 deposit to reserve the apartment, view it on May 11th and then fill out paperwork should I like it... if I don't the money will be returned to me. Not sure if I could do it with a credit card over the phone though, I may have to mail a check or something. I am planning on talking to Vicki about it tomorrow at work and seeing what she thinks I should do. There are other apt complexes that are slightly higher that have amenities like a fitness center, wifi in the clubhouse (w/e that means), and aren't near train tracks... but in addition to being ~$900 a month I would have to pay for the internet/cable in my apartment, which is an additional cost. And the college has a free fitness center, so that doesn't really matter. lol |

@Silvy I have no idea about classes yet, I won't be registering for classes until late June. From what I have read though, many classes are in the late morning/afternoon? I just spoke with the other apartments (the ones I REALLY liked). They have some apartments available for 9/1 move-in, close to campus and grocery stores. They offer free DSL (but I would need to get a landline for it, which is ~$18 a month), no cable included (~$40/month), gas and electric (<$40/month). $895 for a unit near the train tracks (which apparently is never on the weekends as it is freight trains), $925 for a unit not near them. Both are available right now. The attractive thing about this is there isn't a credit check nor an income requirement, and I could sign the lease that day and be done with it. The other complex has the $20 application fee, wants 2.5x the rent gross income per month, and around a 580 credit score. I should be fine with all of that, but it's a little scary. But with the phone line and cable (which I GUESS I don't NEED), cost of living would easily surpass $1,000/month, whereas the other place it would be closer to $900. Oh well, I have an appointment with both places on the 11th and I WILL be signing paperwork before I come back down. I don't know how much cost should be a factor for me, so I am going to try and decide based on location and the quality of the apartment. @Silvy Yea, I don't NEED cable - I could pay $8/month and just have Netflix streaming honestly. I just kinda like the idea of it being included... lol. More bang for my buck. I think what I am going to do is just wait to see these places next week, and go from there. If I go with the cheaper apartment that has cable and everything included, great. If I go for the more expensive one, no biggie. Honestly either way I have to remain confident that it will be okay. I am not sure who else is a hoarder, beside Silvy and now Kal, for the achievement, but, I have a bunch of extra seeds/flower pots all in my trades. Will keep adding as I find more.
