 When I read those first lines from the convict who sent you a message from Ziara's City Jail, I was initially thinking they might be so inane to know what 'tenshi' means, yet be oblivious to the fact 'ten' means heaven, and 'chi' refers to earth! What do you expect from convicts, after all? They do things which get them imprisoned because they can't use their brains for more noble things nor retain information that well. Now that I think about it, maybe they DO have amnesia. But that probably means I do too, because I forgot to give you THIS package from him as well. Oh, never mind, it's just some cheap white scarf you can grab from one of those donation parcels for newer citizens.  You rip open the giftbox to find ... So I've decided. I am going to be a great wizard! I want to be kind and caring, as well as courageous and super knowledgeable about everything there is to know in the world! My teacher always says that to be a respectable wizard, one must be able to look after other living beings. Of course, I entertained a bit of hope that he would let me look after the new dragon hatchlings he's raising in a crate by the fireplace, or put me in charge of the hellhounds that he's trained to act as guard dogs. They're living, right? It would be perfect to practice my looking-after skills. But apparently, Teacher had a different idea for me. I was shown to the greenhouse, where he pointed me to a withering pot of what once was green. 'Your job will be to care for this plant,' he told me. 'I'll come back to check your progress in two weeks.' I was crushed. What was cool about looking after a PLANT!? Ah, well... when Teacher gets that look in his eyes, no one can really say no to him. So I raided the library and stole borrowed a bigger pot and some potting soil from another apprentice and set to work. It was a lot more work than I thought it would be--maybe I shouldn't have camped out next to it to read it bedtime stories--but when Teacher returned for inspection it was BLOOMING. It was so PRETTY. MY BABY WAS BLOOMING! So now, I shall bestow upon you one of my lovely little flowers. I hope that it'll make you smile just like it made me.
