Okay so.. Technically... Im not supposed to have a YouTube account. Im 14 yet I cant have an Email, youtube, or Facebook of my own. My facebook is under my MOMS email. Shes really protective.. Well I Want to post videos of me singing on Youtube. If I make them Public, how easy will it be for someone to see it? Its not like I listen to songs my parents or their friends sing but if they do happen to look it up one day, what are the chances of them seeing it?? I would make it Unlisted and just for friends but I want some feedback... Help?

Depending on how glued she is to the belief that Youtube is a festering hostbody to human trash, it probably wouldn't hurt to tell her about your account. If she's already suspicious of your YouTube SN she can use any knowledge she has of the music you listen to in finding your videos - should you make them public - or comments you've posted (the latter would require a lot of meticulous obsessing, but it's possible). Your OP seems to suggest that your mom's watchfulness has left you in search of hiding solutions, where confronting her about it is not a right of your's. I take pity on your mother, putting into account all the online predators and general animosity/slander that makes YouTube so classy, but I think you should try to explain to her that there are MILLIONS of videos (and a lot of covers from people of all ages) that won't garner over 200 views in the long, putrescing existence of YouTube. You may not get the anticipated response straight off, but allow her to chew it over for awhile.

[FTR, Youtube's search engine is pretty much a joke at this time. Say you tagged the video with song and artist information and your parents decide to search for your videos.. They'd have to comb through 30 pages of porn and video game walkthroughs and by that time would have become uninterested or distracted, as encouraging a thought that is to young artists.]

So to answer your question: there's a large chance you won't get "caught", but I advise you discuss it with your mom first, even if you don't tell her about your secret channel. YouTube can be a great place to be acknowleged and to seek critique, but it's also necessary that you be cautious and try to understand your mom's reasoning. I hope you're able to find solace in whatever you choose to do.

Nothing is lost... Everything is transformed.

I'm going to move this to Internet, since it doesn't directly relate to a form of creativity, but rather youtube as a whole. :]

Psychotic in mind, Chaotic at heart.

Dare to be different, to deviate from the "norm"
