School books. Does that count? x)

Other than that the book shop had a sale so I bought The Great Gatsby and some retelling of Don Quijote.

Lol, they really don't do they. xD
So far we've only had one book I really liked, and that was one I'd read before.
The ones we have this semester are bit more bleh. Realism.
I'm having higher hopes for this next one though. It's supposed to be a take on Romeo and Juliet.

No fancy novels?

Speaking on buying books, this one is just lying in the university book store taunting me.
But it's kind of expensive. ;-;

__________

Recently purchased 4 books like a week or 2 ago? Slowly getting through them. I'm a slow yet avid reader.

Covet by J.R. Ward
Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin (I wanted to see what all the fuss was about....)
Plus I got 2 volumes of the Assassin's Creed books... I believe they're based on the game for those who can't play them... like myself. (I don't have the author's name handy)

I guess. Mainly it's because we read 'All quiet on the western front' and my group, who were supposed to give a presentation on it, we used that book for reference, because it pretty much gives an exact opposite view of the war. I seem to like books about WW1.

@tianeid

I buy too many books I ordered Farenheit 451 and Brave New World from amazon a while ago, and they should be arriving soon. I also have Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close and The Lake of Dreams, although I can't remember the authors' names.

I got a kindle recently and I have two sci-fi anthologies and another book called Cyberdrome on there

And finally for college I have A Streetcar Named Desire, although technically I have to give it back when I leave in a few months *reminds self to read all these books before buying any more*

I think so, yes.

@Paradigm

Fahrenheit 451 is definitely worth reading.
And I never really figured out what A Streetcar Named Desire was about. Didn't read it, but my spanish teacher in high school mentioned it so many times.

@tianeid 1984 is one of my favourite books, and I've heard it's somewhat similar to that so I'm hoping I'll enjoy it

@Opus plot-wise I'm not so sure either as we're not very far into it, but as far as I can tell it focuses on themes of gender and class Books are never as fun when you have to go through and analyse them haha

I re-purchased The Less Dead by April Lurie - I lost it last year, but I absolutely adore this book. And I would recommend it to anyone who likes twisted endings. Some people might see it so far ahead, but I sure as heck didn't!

I've recently purchased:

The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake by Aimee Bender
The Psychopath Test by Jon Ronson
The Uses of Enchantment by Bruno Bettelheim
Kurt Cobain: The Journals

and a few others from charity shops that I can't remember the titles of.
I should really stop buying books because I still have easily 10+ in my "to read" pile.

I'll try and remember to let you know (although I doubt I'll be starting it for a while)! It was a bit of an impulse buy if I'm honest, but the concept seems interesting... hopefully I'll enjoy it. (:

@Opus
Ahh I'm the same with movies! I still have ones needing to be watched that I bought like two years ago. It's silly really because it's not like I don't have the free time - I just have terrible concentration and I can rarely focus on them (same with books. I miss the days when I could read non-stop for 5+ hours!).

I don't think any of mine are that old. But some of them even still have the plastic wrapping around them.

My main problem with the dvd's though, is that my dvd player doesn't work properly and I really can't concentrate while watching a movie on my computer.

I got 'Cold Mountain' by Charles Frazier, 'Boomsday' by Christopher Buckley, and 'Ghost Walk' by Heather Graham. Idk I go to a Goodwill for a lot of my books so I don't really go with a ~list in mind~ of what books I want, but I'm hoping they're good... Cold Mountain is pretty good so far.

@Paradigm
I really want to read 1984!! It's definitely on my list of to-reads if I ever get around to it
