Ridiculously slow connection?

My computer is working fine, my Kindle Fire is working fine, my mom's computer is fine, but my Xbox 360 is so damn slow that I lag all the time and can't even play Halo or anything. We have a wireless router, but the 360 is hardwired to it. We have Comcast high speed (lol, yeah right) which is usually fine, and like I said, everything else connects and is working fine. I've tried to contact Comcast, but they say everything's working fine. My next step I guess is to have someone come to the house or try to contact someone different at Comcast.

Anyone have any knowledge of this kind of thing? Anyone have this happen before and know what to do to fix it?

[[I'm sorry, I didn't know where to put this, if this is the right forum, but I really wanted to ask this and need the help. Move it wherever if need be. Thanks.]]

@Kyradriel
I'm having similar problems (also with Comcast) but I have a feeling it's just my router being stupid because I don't have this problem on any other connection with my laptop.
I'd suggest getting someone to come out and look at it. Do you usually have another device connected to the internet when using your 360?

I suggest checking to see whether or not it is the wire that is causing the problem. (Try hooking your laptop to the router using the same wire, and see if the problem still persists.)

@nereida
Sometimes my mom is online at the same time I'm trying to be on the 360...but they told us that was okay and shouldn't cause problems. I was thinking about maybe getting a new router because the one we have is older and was given to us by Comcast.

@JoeTurtle
I don't have a laptop, I have a desktop. I suppose I could get a new wire though. The one I have is about a year old - I guess it could be defective.

You might need to open up a few ports on your router and/or firewall specifically for your XBox to get the best connection possible on live. I haven't done it for an XBox before, but I've had to do it for other devices.

Had a look, and microsoft has a support page specifically for port forwarding here: http://support.xbox.com/en-GB/xbox-live/connecting/network-ports-used-xbox-live

Yeah, we're still using the router that Comcast gave us too. It's Netgear and I've had pretty crapty experiences with their products so my fingers are crossed it's that rather than problems with Comcast itself..
Maybe it's that, but it looks like Roots seems to have a good idea. It'd save you some money if it helps too.

I'm not a hero....

@Kyradriel Using too many things at once? I think the short answer is that Comcast sucks. I have them, and they always somehow manage to screw us over somehow, and stuff. And they're just really freaking terrible as far as service goes. The internet is normally ok on my laptop, but the wii is really slow, and other people have a lot of problems with their laptops here. Comcast. Ugh.
