Deadline - Wednesday, June 20th: 8:00pm Subeta Time

You must write a story determining your future in the game. It must be AT MOST 200 words long. Include one more person in your story, and add comedy if possible. I will choose my favorite 2 out of all of them. The more creative, the better!

Word count: exactly 200

Climb a tree, Daymare had thought. Get my bearings, he’d thought. What could be simpler?

He feels like punching his self from ten minutes ago.

Now he’s a few feet off the ground and can’t seem to move at all, either up or down. Only two tributes left in the Game, and he’s stuck in a stupid tree.

He’s distracted from his internal griping by a noise not too far from his position. Craning his head to look, he’s shocked to see his competitor picking berries from some bushes.

The other tribute looks up and spots him, and they stare at each other in silence while they each try to figure out what to do. The girl doesn’t have a weapon visible, and Daymare can’t move from his awkward position on the tree.

“Uhh... know which way is north?” Daymare finally asks. The Gamemakers haven’t given them any tasks yet, so why not speak to her for the moment?

“...That way,” she answers, keeping her eyes on him as she points beyond his tree.

“Um, thanks,” he replies. They stare at each other for a moment longer, then the girl darts off into the undergrowth again.

Well, that was unexpected.

Is that okay? I’m not entirely sure what you mean by “determining our future” so I just imagined that I’d gotten to the final two and it’s before the last task has been announced. :/ And I didn’t really know who to add in my story, but I think all of the other tributes are girls, so it could work as any of them.

As for humor... no idea if I succeeded.

It’s kind of a surreally casual moment in the middle of a death trap, and to me there’s a certain whimsical almost-humor in that.

Yep, he didn't realize what a bad tree he'd picked to climb: rough bark, awkward hand and foot holds, and lots of little things to poke him and snag on his rotting skin. He doesn't go tree climbing back in Shadowglen.

@Daymare 200 words seems long to me! The last round was the first time I'd written anything and it looked like it was written by a 10 year old hee. I have no idea how I got past the last round. But the euro's is like the world cup but in Europe. And tonight's game is a big game for us. We need to win or draw.

See, if we were both there, my zombie could've gently tossed your plush zombie into the lowest branches and you could've jumped and climbed to the higher up branches yourself. And yus, if your cloth skin were torn, repairs would probably be easier.

lol, yeah, I can't see anyone wanting to follow a zombie up a tree. XD

I actually checked the word counts of my entries that I wrote stories for to see about how much shorter I'd need to make this one, and I discovered the first (for drawing and writing about an item to help us in the Games) was 455 words long, the second (hiding in the Blue Building for me) was 276 words, and the third (animal familiars) was 501 words. So yeah, I had to work at not getting longwinded. XD

Aww, I didn't think your familiar story sounded that amateurish. XD It was fine! And the picture itself was amazing! Definitely the most impressive and original entry that round.

Ah, okay.

I realize the game may be over by now, but I hope your team does (did?) well!

I know already volunteered, but if for some reason you think a zombie would be better in your story feel free to use mine.

That actually goes for anyone else as well: if you're stuck as to who to include in your entry, you can use my zombie tribute and make him do whatever you want.

@Daymare in 8 hours i'll be asleep. i'll get started on it when i get home. just finishing work the story i did with my sweetie picture was 209 words so i know the length it needs to be now. gonna be tough. i thought 200 words was a lot but it's really not.

"I'll take this watch" ~~Arichu~~ said. Looking over at her, Ky realised just how lucky she had been. "Are you sure? You need the rest more than I do." Ari looks shattered. No wonder after all she'd been through. 'Some protector I turned out to be' Ky thought as Ari nodded. "I can't sleep so you might as well". Ky lay down and quickly nodded off......

It was down to the last three competitors. Ky and Ari were stalking Gryffindor through a thick forest. Armed with only her blow gun and darts, Ky followed the trail of broken branches and footprints in the soil. All of a sudden she steps out into a clearing. Over to her left there is a cat dancing in front of a boombox to the Europe classic 'The Final Countdown' but to her right she sees Gryffindor and Ari facing off. She runs towards them and just in time flings herself between them. She feels the knife in her back but smiles. 'I did it' she thought 'Ari is alive'......

"Ky"...."Ky".... Ky opens her eyes. "Are you alright? You were humming 'The Final Countdown'. I got scared." "I'm fine" Ky replies. "It was only a dream."

Hope you enjoy, I found it to be silly within itself. Skinny dipping is always fun c:

The face….it was so clear and vibrant. Her face stood out in her mind every night, its porcelain glow and her solemn face filled her nightmares. She didn’t sleep anymore; Ari couldn’t take seeing face anytime she closed her eyes. Over the last few days Ari got about 5 hours of sleep making the dark bags under her eyes even more noticeable then her black eye. She looked awful, especially in comparison to her companion who had somehow managed to avoid a fight. The two looked so funny being next to each other; Ari with her cuts and bruises and Ky with her still glowing skin and the obviously well rested look to her.
So when Ky suggested her idea of fun it threw Ari off. “Skinny dipping, we might as well give the Capitol a show.”
“…and leave ourselves defenseless? Yea right,” Ari replied.
“We have our familiars and if we are in the water we will be safe. Come on…” Ky smiled and they undressed and soon found themselves in the water. A silver parachute dropped from the sky and landed in the water next to them. Ari unlocked the secret to gaining sponsors.

lol, well you seem to've edited it pretty nicely so it doesn't seem chopped up or anything. 'Grats on that! (And the secret to sponsors was great!)

Let's hope there aren't anymore word-limited tasks, though.

Thanks for the compliment c: I tried to remember how in the books Katniss realized that she would get more sponsors by appealing with the love story between her and Peeta. So I just kinda went with that. Give people something interesting to watch.

Apologies for the run-on sentences. I was going between the options of:
a. going insane and dying in a stupid way;
b. going insane and taking over the world;
c. going insane and having a tea party;
d. going insane
I think I went with option a. Also, this is completely hypothetical, because I would prefer not to die. Oblique references to the other contestants are oblique.

After successfully poisoning the water supply by washing her giant-ostrich-friend-thing in a river, evading the various traps the Capitol had set up to “make the games more interesting” (including one she almost fell for where the bait was ice cream), bioengineering a retrovirus that would make zombies harmless to her from the native plants, awkwardly excusing herself after running into Kyocera and Arichu skinny-dipping, defeating Gryffindor in a duel using a stick, her wits, and an appropriately timed “Look, a UFO!”, and crafting not-so-suspicious accidental deaths, Nyx managed to become the last contestant standing. Just as the Capitol was about to declare her the winner, she tripped over a rock and fell off a cliff.

Welp.
