A new photograph obtained exclusively by ABC News showing the bloodied back of George Zimmerman's head, which was taken three minutes after he shot and killed 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, gives possible credence to his claim that Martin had bashed his head against the concrete as he fought for his life.

The revelation comes as his attorney and prosecutors prepare for Zimmerman's bail hearing today, which could result in his being released from jail. Zimmerman, 28, is being held on charges of second-degree murder for the Feb. 26 shooting of Martin, which could carry a life sentence if he is convicted.

The exclusive image shows blood trickling down the back of George Zimmerman's head from two small cuts. It also shows a possible contusion forming on the crown of his head. The original police report that night notes that the back of Zimmerman's head was wet, and that he was bleeding from the nose and head.

Here's the "graphic" image of Zimmerman's purported "head wound."

My two cents? That's so obviously fake that I almost feel embarrassed for Zimmerman. For starters, the blood doesn't even look real, and it certainly doesn't look like the "life-threatening" injuries being mentioned left and right. If he'd had his head "bashed against the sidewalk" like he was claiming, there would be a LOT more blood, and VERY visible injuries.

Two, these "injuries" and the accompanying blood don't show up at all in security video footage taken the night of the murder. Since even minor head injuries bleed copiously, his shirt and neck should have been very bloodied - but that isn't the case.

But that's just my take. What's yours?

i call bullcrap. if these had been around all this time, why are they just now surfacing?

also, somehow i was under the impression his injuries were supposed to be on his face, based on that older shot of him arriving at the police station showing not a single thing on him.

I don't care if it IS real, myself. love him and his little scrapes. I'd have fought him too if he'd been chasing me. He stalked that kid and killed him and we're supposed to somehow be a bit more understanding about it because the kid fought back?!

And that's if it's real. It does look a bit fake to me.

Really, the timing and the obvious fakeness of the photos just makes Zimmerman look even more suspicious. As if smearing a packet of McDonald's ketchup on the back of his head in some dubiously-dated photo "justifies" his actions

@Sugah nailed it on the head, though - even if, by some miraculous chance, they are legit injuries, that still doesn't change the fact that Zimmerman was the aggressor. If anyone had a reason to defend themselves by any means necessary, it was Trayvon, full stop. Fake photo or legitimate, there can be no excusing what Zimmerman did. None.

Pity so many people are going to do just that, anyway.

Finally fierce. Almost.

It doesn't really matter. He had been told by law enforcement that he could not carry a gun in his role as neighborhood watch, and he killed an unarmed teenager with no history of violent or aggressive behavior. So what if it's real? All it proves is that Trayvon fought for his life. If someone pulled a gun on me, I'd fight for my life as well.

I'm not taking sides in the story, but I will say this, is those head injures were real, the blood wouldn't have "flowed" in such an odd pattern.

He claims that he was punched in the face, with a broken nose and what not. There were no signs of injury on his face.
There are 'videos' of him having injuries on the top of his head.
That picture of yours shows 'injuries' on the back of his head.

His own claims and 'proof' don't match up.

The worst part? No matter what, he's still a criminal. And it took them WEEKS to take him in. He should have been arrested and charged forever ago, no matter what so-called injuries he had. He killed an innocent boy.

Head wounds have a tendency to bleed profusely. If his head were really bashed against concrete, I'm more inclined to think that there'd be more blood.

(not a doctor, nurse, or med student. don't take me too seriously.)

Even if he obtained those injuries(which I don't buy for a second) it was his own fault for following Trayvon. You don't chase someone around with a gun, that makes you the aggressor, you're the one at fault when that happens.

Trayvon was an unarmed boy, he was just trying to go home with his tea and m&ms. Zimmerman was a crazy racist boy who took it upon himself to chase someone around he thought was suspicious simply because he was a young black male with a hoodie on. Zimmerman was packing a weapon, which is illegal by the way, he was the one who is at fault yet Trayvon is the one who's dead.

It's an injustice.

Ohnoes, what was Trayvon supposed to while ... you know .. FIGHTING FOR HIS LIFE AGAINST AN ARMED ATTACKER ? Tickle him with feathers ? Get out the sexy lingerie and pillow fight ? WHAT did he THINK was going to happen. It's like he's blaming the kid for trying to live. "Gat dang dark-skinned how dare he" is what i am getting from this. Stupid thing is, people will side with the poor "beaten" white guy because of the "aggression" the "typical violent youth" displayed, because apparently trying to fight to live is completely unusual or something.
