Alright ladies and gentlemen! So my bestie and I have been mixing our own mineral colors, and pressing our own powders since forever. (We are total makeup geeks) As of a few months ago we decided we would try our hand at selling our stuff, and So, with just a few days left in April we are almost done with everything! We have an etsy account, and a facebook page. I was hoping that perhaps I could get your feed back on what you guys think. We're calling it Lovelace Boudoir! We haven't done much advertising yet, so I thought you talented folks could give us pointers before we start doing so.

How's our writing?
What do you think of the photos?
The colors?
Anythink else?

We're pretty nervous about this, but I am very confident in what we made! Let me know what your first impressions are!

Thank you guys so much in advance!

im not going to pretend to know anything about makeup, but one thing i thought you could change on your website is the "highest price" sort tabe. i hardly think anyone is going to use that, and maybe you can change it to "most popular" or something?

Thanks so much! I wish etsy would let me do that! My cohort, Becky, had the same thought. I hope this works and we can make our own site for real and not have a stupid tab like that. Thanks again!

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of etsy, but it does make it easy for start-ups. Hopefully with the money we make from the first run we can start our own site. Thanks again!

Wow, that's really awesome that you guys are setting up your own shop.

My suggestions (feel free to take them or leave them! just offering my ideas):
1. Tweaking your etsy shop announcement.
Quote:

Welcome to the utterly elegant, quirky, world of Lovelace Boudoir where makeup is pigmented and the atmosphere is reminiscent of the gilded boudoirs of the victorian era.
Welcome to Lovelace Boudoir.

It makes for smoother reading because originally your second sentence was not a full sentence. Heh, things like this just bug me.
2. I think it's great that your item descriptions write that your products are cruelty free and vegan!

I think once you've got a few more colors up, it'll look really nice - imagine that page filled up with pretty different pigments! Good luck with your store~

Gah! Thank you so much! I knew posting here would be a good idea. We are running on coffee and determination what with all this Lovelace Boudoir stuff and finals! Can't believe we missed that!
Thank you also for your kind words of encouragement. We've actually got two more colors coming! They are sitting on my desk waiting to be pressed one final time. XD

Love love love this! :> Your prices are reasonable and this is such a unique thing. I get really sick of seeming the same old, boring stuff for sale.

My only advise would maybe be to be careful with your photos? They were beautiful and artistic looking.. But I found myself struggling to get a good view of the actual eyeshadow. Maybe this is just me, though. It'd be nice to have a singular front view, close up of just the shut pair of eyes per each make up set to really see how it looks on skin in there. Again, maybe just me. x__x

I'd definitely love to see more colors. I like the absinthe green. I have one of those huge 140 palette type make up kits, and its got a pretty broad spectrum already but it lacks a lot of /bright/ colors. Some more really colorful colors would be nice. c:

It's not just you. The photos are great... just not for selling eye shadow. I found myself always looking at the lipstick, or well, anything but the eye shadow. And in a lot of the pics, you couldn't even see it at all because of eyelashes or bangs. Make what you are selling the focus of your shots and you should be good to go! Also, not sure if your eye shadow can be applied wet/dry... but if it can, a pic of each might be good, and tutorials/different looks using the same shadow could help sell the product. You might want to take a quick look at how Maybelline, Rimmel, Bare Minerals, etc. are showing off their colors, it might give you some ideas that might work for FB if not for etsy.
Good Luck!

Hey guys! I swear I wasn't ignoring you! Finals and whatnot have kept me away! XD @Orchipea and @shippo162, I appreciate your feedback! The color on the lips is actually that same eyeshadow applied wet over a chapstick primer. XD I suppose I should state that in the photos. And you are both right, unfortunately our photographer didn't quite grasp what we were looking for, but alas, the shoot is done, and we have learned a valuable lesson for next time. I love the idea of tutorials and have passed the idea on to my corhort! she is going to set up a youtube account for us and create a video tutorial using the two greens!

We also do have two new colors that will be up shortly, one is a cream color, the second a purple that lives somewhere between grape and plum! Thanks again for all of your advice and kind words! You guys are quite amazing!
