-> NOTES: The thing at the back is the nerves and stuff that come out the back of your eyeball, i forgot what it's called :/ Might be doing more versions.

-> NOTES: That's supposed to be smog / smoke that follows him around and surrounds him and flesh-colored irises in the smaller eyes.

-> NOTES: The front set of legs were supposed to be redrawn as sort of folded bat wings that can still crawl, and were feathered like in the tiny picture. It's got more of a horselike head than a dragon, but the mouth is jagged like a dragon. Those are eyes going down along its side, and the feathers/tufts of fur are actually anemone-like. Those are spore capsules coming off them (look up moss or something), and they let go of dream dust or whatever you'd like. So there's an aura coming off of the anemone areas, kind of like smoke. The colors I was going to do last minute, but I was going to go for a greyish body with dashes of cyan and blue as markings.

-> NOTES: The creature has two tube-like arms and legs, all of which have a hole in the end. It has eyeballs for shoulders with holes below them. There's two more holes near its midsection. Its head is bent down, with its legs and smaller arms curling up to make it seem like its sleeping. It's capable of climbing around walls and ceilings with bone-like spikes it can summon from the holes in its shoulders and "knees". If it can't bury its bone spikes in the surfaces, it can also use its arm, shoulder and leg holes as suction cups to climb around. There's sand crusted around the eye behind its head, kind of like sleep sand. The shoulder eyes aren't reflective at all, almost appearing dead. It can drop down from the ceiling on its unsuspective victim, burying the bone spikes in them. It can summon tendon-like tentacles from the holes in its midsection, which it uses to strangle its prey. Its "face" actually opens into a mouth.

After thousands of years of stewing in discontentment, they turned into a monster! ...Or, they could be just some random

Do you accept traditional entries, and can they be entirely black and white? I love designing disturbing monsters but I only use ballpoint.

1. Yes. Traditional entries are definitely acceptable!
2. I'd much prefer it to be in color but sure, go ahead. If you design something black and white, would you be giving me permission to come up with a color scheme for it if it places / I'm interested in it?

Very tempted to enter! I love seeing monster art like this but I've never drawn it myself.
I have lots of work due in atm though so hopefully I'll feel motivated to do something. Good luck for now!

Ahhhh, good luck Ryxe! I'm not that creative when coming up with design (especially monsters), all the best.

Well I've already started so yaaay.
I like how it's turning out. I'm just going to have trouble with colours/the dream idea ;; It's looking nightmareish does that count? :'D
I might try doing different colour schemes for each different entry (if I do more!)

The dream element does not necessarily have to be incorporated into the design, it's just a bonus theme to work off of really, so if you're having difficulty with that don't sweat over it too much. But yes, nightmares count towards the dream element just as much!

For color schemes, you can always try looking up color palettes if you need a little inspiration on what to go for! Just stay clear of the colors I mentioned already since they've been used at least twice already, haha.

I used to always use Colourlovers! Also with the colours you listed, is it fine to use them for tiny details? Like white for example. My design has some tiny little bones along his back so would it be okay for those to be white? I can probably change the colour up anyway if I do different schemes for each one.

For minor details, yes. But for a color that's a large part of the design, I'd rather you pick a different one. I just don't want all the designs end up having the same color scheme or anything! xD

A very good question, is that! :'D

This contest is mainly focusing on design and the creative aspect, so there's no need to come up with poses / elaborate shading / the like. As long as I can clearly see the design, that is what I am most interested in. n_n If you want to make it like a reference sheet, feel free! The more clarity you present the design with, the better! C:
