Subeta's Official Launch Date?

I've been looking all over for an official launch/release date for Subeta and I've only seen the vague "2004" answer.

I've been around for quite some time and I've seen mention of it being completely reset; I'm not really sure when this took place or when it was re-launched.

In any event, I see that the SubetaTeam's account was made on September 19, 2004. I'm not sure about Keith's account, though.

Any answers/suggestions would be appreciated.

The site was relaunched (post-Reset) on 19th of September, 2004. I don't remember when it had gone down... I want to say it imploded in June of 2004. But I can't recall how long it had been around pre-crash & reset.

Wish I could be more help. Some of the other older users might have a better recollection. @, do you recall?

Even if the HA has tits, I most certainly do not.

Actually, even that isn't really accurate. It actually restarted a bit before the nineteenth date, during the first week of September, I believe. That's just a date that Keith sort of arbitrarily chose later on in order to have a consistent site anniversary to include everyone who rejoined at the restart. I remember re-registering prior to the nineteenth. I believe that Keith had started the site when he was 13, so that would be 2002 originally, unless he hadn't quite turned 13 yet, in which case it would have been 2001. Any of the originals remember anything more accurate @ @ @ ?

@, I see that you and others joined on September 17, 2004 so that puts you before the September 19th date that I had found. And it does appear that Subeta started celebrating 17th of September as its anniversary by 2005.

But, looking back at the news archive, I found this post:

I remember playing it on deaddesires back in spring '04 in which I was a senior in HS at the time. That same summer later on the site went on a murder spree and killed off some accounts, left others in tact, others had parts missing so keith wiped the whole site out and restarted it. And before it did that it ate people SP so he gave everyone 100k, back at a time when earning even 50k was a task lol, then there was a map piece error where you got a new piece on just about every page, then a few weeks later site went ajksdfhasdkhf. I didn't rejoin for a while just to be safe it wouldn't do that again.
It did the murdering shortly after he made the site.org, I remember being all excited on it getting it's own web name before the site did what it did.

Ah, okay. I signed up in early 2006. I remember the whole longcat when Subeta went crazy and was hacked and all that.

I guess I didn't realize that there was a big thing back in 2004. So, when people talk about the reset and all that, I guess I kind of thought the longcat thing was involved, but that was years later.

@ Yes! That's it! It must have been the 13th! I just remember Keith changing it later on. I knew that it was after Labor Day but prior to the 19th/17th.

We were all in the glorious fun temp forums just waiting for it to come back! Had I been a slightly faster typist, I would have been user #12, but I ended up #13. XD

@ - This link might be interesting as it shows old pages from early Subeta taken from the Internet Archive - starting with January 2004.

Thank you so much! I can't believe I didn't think to check there. Lots of awesome old stuff there.

It appears that Subeta was recreated (or re-launched) on March 17, 2004 before it was again reset and relaunched on September 13, 2004.

But, as you pointed out, back in January 2004, it was around but down due to somebody abusing a glitch.

I'll have to do a little more digging.

@ might want to check out the link too!

Interesting... I just know that it was definitely around in 2003, and I believe originally 2002. I'm not sure exactly what "crawling" on that site even is.

EDIT: @ EUREKA! A site called Unlimited Games has Subeta listed as a "new site with over 500 items" in 2002!

Ah! Yes. Very cool. Can't believe it's 10 years old.

Also, not sure if you found this, but here's a link on that "Way Back" site that shows you your (DebiLee's) profile from 2004-2008. I found some of my old profiles from earlier on and I kinda cringed with my "About Mes". lol
