i got my laptop for only about 5 months now and i am annoyed at the touch pad
it is a multi-gesture (thing-a-mig-bob) touchpad, sometimes it is either too responsive or too unresponsive... and sometimes it works perfectly fine.
do you think I am able to get it fixed or something? I read some reviews saying that some people get that same problem.
oh, and it is a hp dm1-4016au...

Get a laptop mouse? I have one, and they work wonders. SO much easier and better than the touchpad, imo.

'Puter problems are so frustratingly horrible! :/ I have a sketch pad which I use as a mouse. Holding a wand saves me getting sore hands! I hope your probs are resolved soon!

@queribundus

I would suggest going into your touchpad settings and turning down/up the sensitivity. You can also turn off some features while keeping others. I'd mess around with it until you have the balance you like. For some things, though, a wireless mouse does work wonderfully and I would recommend getting one. Hope that helps.

Awesome! I'm glad it's helped. I do, also. I sit in bed and use my laptop, so sometimes unless a mouse is amazing it doesn't work properly So I get that.

@PsychoDoughboy
okay... it started up again
my touchpad is doing the whole multi-gesture spaz... i adjusted all the settings to get it right and it doesn't want to work anymore.
i only kind of got it to work by using the touchpad with my left hand...

@queribundus
Is there any way in your settings that you can disable multi-gesture? I don't know what else to say, other than that you may need to re-install the touchpad drivers! That might help, and if not, you may have to find some support forms for your laptop brand/model.

@PsychoDoughboy
one of the reasons why i brought this laptop was because of the multi gesture
haha, maybe when i get my new desktop and when semester break comes along, i'll send my laptop off to hp support to deal if the blemmin' touchpad...
hopefully they won't go 'nah' when they can't find anything wrong when they use it :

Bah, sorry I couldn't be of more help! I do recommend re-installing the drivers first, and checking forums before sending it in and spending the money, unless you have a warranty (I don't... oop. o_o)

your help is more than nothing (if that made sense...)
and yes, so happy i still have warranty on this 'thing', i brought it a few months ago for university.
so i guess i will be sending this thing in after my desktop computer arrives
thanks a tonne!

OK first of all what is a 'multi gesture' touch pad?
I used to hate using the touch pads on my old laptop so I hooked a mouse up to it. Just do that.

@Reluctant_Psychic
multi gesture touch pad is where you can use it to zoom in and out, scroll up down, etc. like in the ipad or iphone.
like i posted before, i do not use my laptop that much on a flat surface so it really isn't that much of use to me.

@queribundus you can scroll with a default touchpad. I don't see the big deal.

@Reluctant_Psychic
that's true... but it is much easier than to continuously hold down the button thingy for left click and stuff...
and considering that for my laptop, it is right at the edge of it and it is nearly always on my lap it is just much more easier to use
but maybe that is just me =]

Don't tell it to die. I told mine to "die!" because it was being slow, and just then my cat jumped up and spilled my drink all over it. It died. For reals.

Now I have a new one x_x.

@queribundus Sorry I know this is late, but you don't have to hold down a button while your scroll, at least not always. My touchpad has an area separated from the rest with a thin line and two arrows at the top and bottom where all you have to do is run your finger down it and it scrolls the page. Just like a roller on a mouse. Maybe not all have them I am not sure, but it's possible.

@Reluctant_Psychic
to be honest... my laptop acts up in another way (like slowing down soooo much) when one thing is technically working...
sometimes i wish it just shuts down permanently and hp and replace me with another one.

@queribundus First of all I apologize for this extremely late reply. I hope you have managed to figure out the problem or were able to get a new laptop.
your title became ironic, as freezing up constantly is pretty much only a step or two from dying...I think...well it seems like it.
