I知 so beautiful, but why do you keep thinking of different things?

i didnt see any other thread like this one. if i missed it, please lock this one.

so i just noticed that in the gift center, in the artic frost, one can get a warning if you sent nasty gifts.
Quote:
If you are reported for sending nasty anonymous gifts, you will get a warning.

i wonder what is a nasty gift in this sentence? is it an useless item, an item with a nasty message, something unwanted?
i guess that even if we sent it as annons, the gift can still be tracked back to us?

ping me if you feel the need ^^

I kinda thought nasty was self-explanatory. Anything against the rules.

And they've always been able to track anon gifts. In fact, this has always been a thing. It's just now they're putting a warning; I guess there's been a spike in mean gifts lately or something.

@Archer
in any case, its good there is a warning for it now..
however, now i gotta think twice before i send anything to anyone, especially for major drills.
i have a feeling it is because of him that this warning happened there

Gifts can be tracked because it doesn't make things anonymous on the backend. There is always data for everything.

Nasty is just plain nasty. Sending an anonymous gift to act like a creep because you're too cowardly to do it in public. I believe Keith has outed someone once publicly for it.

@Fashionisto
Nah, I wouldn't worry too much. Just don't go sending people fetus pops or anything for drills, and you should be okay. I'm 90% sure you won't get reported for sending something like clothing or food. And if you do get reported by some jerk, I'm more sure that staff won't actually warn you.

I think this more applies to harassment cases than general everyday gifting.

For those wondering: from how I understood it, given I follow Subeta Confessions on Tumblr, someone was sending piles of poo to people on here because they disagreed with a person's post.

I'm glad to see that there was at least something done about this. c:

thank you for the input ^^

but guys, if any of you send me each a red ball, as anon, and i consider the red ball as being nasty, i could report you ...... but then i might be considered a jerk, and could get myself warned instead..
or if i send any of you a kinki love item you too could report me, for being nasty - even if im anon, right?

My interpretation is that it means stuff like sending gifts with inflammatory messages and stuff like that. I don't think particular items could get you warned unless someone has specifically said that a particular item offends them directly to you and you send that item. With a world of over 7 billion people, everything is bound to offend someone out there.

I doubt the warning message refers to sending the actual item so much as using gifting to deliver nasty messages (or spamming someone with a repeated item to convey some kind of message). It would be RIDICULOUS to warn someone for giving another user a single red ball with no nasty messages attached. Yes, they're cheap, but what if the red ball was literally my favorite item on the site, and I wanted to send them to people so I could make them happy? And even the Kinky Love items. What if I send one to someone simply because they are expensive and would earn them some sP if they sold it, or I thought they could use it on their avatar, etc. Too many grey areas. I interpret the warning as simply telling people not to send nasty anon messages via gifting.

@Fashionisto

I'm pretty sure it's something like this: I send you the
Village Idiot Plushie
and proceed to say that you're: really stupid, gtf off of subeta/internet, your opinion is the dumbest thing I've ever read, ect. I don't think sending things like the plugs/random game items/slots items will get you in trouble. I think the only time you'd get in trouble for sending an item without a message is if you send a mean message (like I explained) then continue to send the same item minus any message/the default one.

I think most, if they're being mean, would always have to get a jab in with a message. They want that person to know why that gift was sent.

Edit:

I should also add, this is for anyone else who might be confuse or don't quite get it either.

I dunno, to me at least, the term nasty is kind of ambiguous. Yeah I know that the other stuff is against the rules, but it seems like a strange word choice.

Yeah, I'm on the same thought as @Klassikal , what qualifies as nasty?

What if I am sending a gift that is clearly meant as a joke (like some of the anon gifters around luminaire, I believe we had a Rude Elf, an insulting snowman and probably some more), and someone just doesn't get the joke and finds it 'nasty'? Can you at least appeal and explain why the gift was meant as a joke?

I'm guessing it would have to be in combination with a nasty/rude message like User not found (1): Fai said, or the poo thing from SC which is ridic but whatever haha I think if you just are randomly gifting things you'll be fine. The people who are using the gift center like that aren't doing it by accident, I'm sure :/

I don't think it matters whether the gifts are anonymous are not. Sending gifts with inflammatory messages is against the rules for both anonymous and non-anonymous gifters.

As it's always been, sending someone a piece of junk (like plugs) isn't something we're going to issue warnings for. If the piece of junk is accompanied by a message that says something like, "You're a lovewit and you should go blow your brains out," then yes, that is considered "nasty." If you're using gifts to have explicit cybersex (and yes, it's happened) then that is also "nasty." We're talking rule violations here.

@mbif

So people like our anon gifter the rude elf who was sending village idiot plushies with essentially 'you're so dumb jokes' that are obviously just goofing around, aren't in danger of being warned for just being silly?

I enjoy seeing all the goofy things anon gifters come up with, sometimes they could be misinterpreted as mean, but over all it's just a 'theme' and a joke identity they're playing.

@PoeticEnigma
I'm not staff, but the way I am seeing it in those situations is that the staff knows who is doing it, and they will be more aware that it might be a joke since they will know who sent it, and who else might have received those jokes etc. Also, when someone tends to have a theme give away like that, people tend to post something on the boards, so I assume that would also be taken into consideration.

But, I'm not staff, so I am not too sure exactly on how it would work. That's just my thought process.

@Wolf_Spirit
im sorry you received nasty gifts before, and i DO agree with some sort of punishment for those being nasty
i only made this board to get some feedback on the word "nasty" being used in the wording..
and as mentioned before some people will send plugs for the quest, some will make jokes and some people will send really rude messages as well.
but if the receiver will think that all of the above are being nasty, then everyone would risk a warning..but it seems, that only the last one will -with the mean texts

That or if someone sends you something you have an actual fear of that you don't like seeing on site and just pass over them so that your fear(s) don't come into play...scaring someone with something they fear is just as bad as a hurtful message.

I don't agree with you. Sending someone something they fear (say a spider related item) isn't something nasty. Even if they know you don't like them it could just be a harmless joke. I don't like needles but if someone send me a needle related item, I would just laugh it off. I wouldn't be irrational about it.

I don't think it's NEARLY as hurtful as sending someone a "I hate you go jump off a cliff" message. I know I'd be really bothered if I got a warning for sending people spider related items around Morostide just because they didn't like the item.

It may not be considered nasty to you, someone sending you something you fear, but it certainly is to others. I'm so deathly afraid of arachnids and clowns that I actually start either crying or get knots in my stomach (moreso with clowns) and makes me shake. Nasty is nasty no matter what way you look at it...

Even if it makes you cry to see them, that doesn't mean other people should get warnings for just trying to play a little joke. You can block the images of clowns/spiders if it's that big of a deal to you. What if someone didn't know you had that fear and you tried to get them in trouble for sending you a clown-related item? That wouldn't be very fair to them. Now, if someone sent you a horrible message, they would deserve the warning.

It's kind of like the ladybug free gifts every year. We all know Keith doesn't like ladybugs, but they still make a ladybug item on his birthday. It's just harmless fun, and people shouldn't get in trouble for it.

That's why I stick to wishlist items, or something neutral like a cheap book with a cute message attached if I'm going to anon gift something. Less chance of giving someone something they fear. I wouldn't put anything I feared on mine. As for Major Drills gift quest, I send the junk item to a frozen account*. That way I'm not bothering anyone.

*of course with the new way to account clear I may have to rethink this lol It was easy to find an account close to being deleted that the user wasn't going to come back to get it unfrozen and not have to worry about annoying someone.

When someone specifically states on their profile things they're scared of, it's nasty that someone would go out and actually buy something that you fear, stick it into a box and send it anonymously. Nasty comes in many forms.

@Fai

I agree wholeheartedly. Stick to WL items or items you know they'd enjoy (if they're a friend) or to cheap things like books or food or cheap clothes or something if there's nothing affordable on WLs for anon gifts (in regards to Major Drills)

You guys are freaking out way too much, seriously. Mbif has already said it's existing policy, and things are the same as they've always been.

The only thing that's changed since last week is now there's a notice about it. You can still send your gag/themed/holiday gifts the same as always. The notice being there might mean more people start reporting (since apparently a lot of people never even knew anon gifts were logged and tracked), but that doesn't mean staff is going to start arbitrarily handing out warnings.

If someone sends you a spider or a clown and you report it, staff (probably, I can't speak for them for sure) won't do anything more than tell you who it was and tell you to block them if it bothers you that much.
Y'know, the same thing they've always done.
