hey guys!
if there is a topic like this, lock, of course ^^

so, i will be getting my first tattoo at the end of the summer! i'm so excited. (end of the summer because i need to hoard my job money so i can pay for it OTL)

do you guys have tattoos? where? of what? how was the experience for you?
i'm kind of nervous cx

I have a single tattoo so far, on my right shoulderblade. It's of a swallow wearing the crown of the KNVB lion. It only took about 30 minutes and didn't hurt at all, even though it was pretty much right on the bone. I definitely want more, including a phrase on the back of my neck, but I haven't decided when I'll have them done yet.

I have two tattoos, one on my upper back that says 'Such a deliberate step backwards' which is from a poem by Philip Larkin.
And I also have the deathly hallows sign from Harry Potter on my foot.
Neither of them hurt that much, but the one on my foot hurt more.

I want always written in cursive words on my wrist in black with nice shading,and a sign for infinity at the bottom of the letters nicely incorporated into the same tat C:
#328 on my list of things I want but cant afford yet.

It is a tatoo having to do with a relationship, but not directly. It's about the good and bad things I will always remember because of this relationship. Also will have spiritual meaning for me.

I have a Celtic knot in the shape of a shark running across my rib cage; it's under the right breast. Thinking of getting a horse of a similar design on my wrist.

It's probably best that you get your tattoo at the end of summer, unless it would be in a place that's out of the sun entirely.
Also because going swimming with a fresh tattoo isn't the best idea.

I have two tattoos so far, but of course plan to get more. My more recent one is on my inner forearm, and it reads 'Faith'.
It was kinda funny how everybody was like, "why would you get a tattoo that says faith if you aren't religious!?"
YEAH BECAUSE THAT WORD MUST SOLELY PERTAIN TO RELIGION NOW. -__-

And my other one is on top of my left foot. It's in memory of my best friend, Alex. I'll try to get a better photo of it later.
Neither of my tattoos were too painful. It's just more of an annoying feeling, if that makes sense. But of course everybody has different pain thresholds.
I think my forearm one hurt a little more than the top of my foot. But the guy that was doing my forearm started to push the needles in a little bit further to get me to stop laughing. :| It's just that when he started the tattoo, the buzzing from the tattoo gun was tickling me. e__e

It was $70 and I also tipped $20. That'll be awesome! I actually thought about having the phrase I want on my neck added underneath the swallow on my shoulder, but thought it'd look kind of disjointed so I didn't end up doing it.

I would really like to get something on my ankle, preferably a brown marble tabby cat with purple butterfly wings, to honor my first cat I ever had who died this past summer. Her name was Zena and she was my best friend. I would go out tomorrow and get it, but #1, I want to find a real artist to do it, and #2, I'm a complete wuss when it comes to pain and I've heard the ankle is the most painful place to go.

i don't think you should go by what you hear.. i've heard neck was most painful, then ribs, then wrist, then foot.. yet my friend (who doesn't have a real high pain bar either) got one on her foot and was practically picking her nose. it's a different experience for everybody, because everybody's BODY is different. i'd just do it! c:

i'd LOVE tattoos. i'm 17 right now and my mom already approved to one, but i can't dig up the $$ to do it. tattoos are really expensive, the tiny one i want can already get over $100, and i have to pay for it myself, so yeah. tattoo sleeves on women are drop-dead sexy but i wouldn't get one myself because i'd like to be still eligible for most jobs. so i'd say, maybe i'll end up having 4 or 5. dunno.

haha my mom let me get one when i turned 16, greatest present ever. she has 7 tattoos o.o i only have one so far, but i want to get one on my back, not sure what yet
i got my tattoo on my upper (outside part) thigh, it didn't hurt at all and the guy who was doing mine was really impressed
apparently his friend got one and cried the whole time lol

that's awesome! my friend really wants the HP deatlhy hallows symbol, but she's got a terribly low pain tolerance and a fear of needles, so sadly i do not think it will happen lol

yeah, that's the other reason i'm getting it done. i mean, mostly because i'm poor atm xD but also because i want to go to the beach a lot.

my ankles are really bony so i'd never get a tattoo there. cx my aunt is a totalllllll wuss about pain, and she has a scorpion on her ankle, though, so maybe it wouldn't be as bad as you'd think!

mm, i loveee sleeves on women, my roommate too. we always find pictures on tumblr of girls with awesome sleeve tattoos and lament about not being able to do it lol. sometimes i wish i was an art student or something so it wouldn't matter if i was totally covered in them xD

what did you get for your tattoo? i totally love thigh tattoos, i think they can be so gorgeous. i love summer because all the girls with them wear shorts and you can ogle their ink lol

Well firstly, I'd like to say that I'm sorry about your loss. I know how badly it hurts to lose an animal you're extremely close to :"(
On the subject of tattoos though, you shouldn't really listen to what people say is the "most painful" place to get a tattoo, honestly. I mean, yes, there are some places that tattoos do tend to hurt a but more on a lot of people (rib cage for example), but like and I have said, everybody has a different pain tolerance.
And the ankle is a very popular place to get tattoos, so try taking into consideration how many people have gotten ankle tattoos. Must not be completely unbearable?

In my opinion, I actually prefer to get tattooed on bone where I have very little muscle and/or fat between it. For example, I plan to get tattoos on both my shins. I know I can tolerate that pain fine, but most people I've spoken to have said that getting tattooed over bone usually hurts them more. For me it's not bad at all, lol.
So it really does just depend on each individual person. You know your pain threshold better than anybody else, so you probably have a good idea of where you can handle getting a tattoo. It sounds real cheesy, but really, take your own body into consideration because nobody will know it better than you.

On another note, your tattoo doesn't have to be done in just one session depending on the size and detail you want. Also, if you feel like you're getting overwhelmed and you're getting too tender, just calmly tell your tattoo artist that you need a few minute break. They should understand.

Yeah, I mean, I guess it does feel exactly as it should... getting needles dragged across your skin, lol. That sounds harsh, but it's not so bad. Yes, it is an uncomfortable feeling, and can start to hurt if they go over the same area more than once, but you'll be fine. C:
My aunt Lynn has a bunch of tattoos, and each time she goes to see Frenchie (old family friend/tattoo artist), she for real falls asleep while he's tattooing her, LOL. It's so weird, but it just relaxes her so much that she just falls asleep.

@ my mom got most of her tattoos when she was young and her mom didn't know o.o
she says she'd rather her go with me and make sure i don't go some place sketch and get infected
it's something i found on deviantart, it's a moon but it looks almost kinda sorta tribal-ish? i can't find it again for the life of me or i'd show it to you!

i have 4 right now, and about 20 in the works haha (DARN TATTOOS COSTING MONEY)
so far i have "let's try redefining beautiful" up my side (that was my first and it HURT SO BAD), a camera on my left inner bicep, the mantra "om mani padme hum" in Hindi on my inner right bicep, and the stars from the top of the pages of harry potter on my hips. as far as i'm concerned my side hurt the worst. i was squirming so bad. surprisingly i thought my inner arms were the easiest, most people think those are some of the worst. i just thought they tickled haha.
right now i'm trying to get enough money for a half sleeve of the god shiva on my right arm but sadly those are about $500 and i have to pay rent and junk first ;(

and, i want 'good vibes' tattooed on my wrists, one on each side, mainly because i need to focus on keeping good vibes in my life instead of bad ones, you know? so it's kindof inspirational to me. i also want to get freddy krueger claw marks on my shoulder because freddy krueger is my main man!
