on monday i went out to collect the mail and the glorious shiny, silver stainless steel lid covered the circular hole in the ground which contained the water meter. my precious lid, it is awesome! welll, was awesome...
you see, wednesday morning i popped out to the shops and to my horror, a hole in the ground was present (and still is). the magnificent metallic lid was gone! then... i glared at every single house which had a lid on their water meter as i proceeded to walk down the street to my destination...

would just like to share the sad disappearing story of my water meter lid
i.am.pissed. it was there for years... and who steals lids anyways? use it for a frisbie? yeah, i hope you die.

Maybe...they were desperate to play disc golf? Or maybe a raccoon took it. Is it possible the meter or whatever it covers was being worked on and the workers still have the lid? You should call your city/township or whoever is in change and tell them about it. They'll probably bring a new shiny out asap. Just tell them it's a safety hazard. XD

@Kyradriel
haha, i'm guessing the raccoon wanted it to play disc golf?
my dad made the shiny lid for the water meter because there wasn't one when we brought the house so it was a real disappointment when somebody took it. so the shiny lid won't get replaced with a newer shinier lid
my dad was gobsmacked when i told him someone stole it!
but then again, i guess the raccoon had an itch after eyeing the shiny thing for 6 years?

Unless it was a really strong crow or raven that carried it off. XD They love teh shinies. Your poor dad though. I can imagine how he'd feel. I can't imagine what was going through someone's mind to take it. Moron.

le gasp, forgot about the birds!
i am thinking it is one of those 'new' families on our street... and boy, there are a lot of them.
maybe the 'old' families had moved away because their water meter lids had also been stolen xD
you never know!

@Dandelina
oh yes! i'm thinking of placing one of those springs under the lid so if someone doesn't know how to avoid it, it will spring in their face xD
haha, but a chain is more realistic i think.

Or it could be zombies. It could always be zombies. They sometimes mistake shiny things for brains, you know.
