WIP Interest Check - Pokemon themed Tall Grass

#FaeCW #CWidea Wanted to get an interest check for a WIP. (Interest seems to be really high for this, so I have cleaned it up and will have it available in my shop within the next day or two.) This is a Pokemon themed foreground item tentatively called Tall Grass, it covers the HA's legs and is perfect for displaying companions and such (as seen below.) It also can be used with any full body skin overlay (also as seen below.)        Interest List

  Tumblr x My CWs x CW Wips I can instantly see the tribute to the two stories here, but it's very subtle ^^. I love this concept. The foot on our right looks far better positioned in the second one, the hand on the shoulder is a fantastic idea too. I definitely believe the second sketch is more "Subeta-like" and professional. There could be an issue naming this the "Tree Troll Companion" though as I personally can't see "tree" in it, unless of course the troll is brown and green. I can see "Earth Troll Companion" though. Could name it after the elements and create a series devoted to each perhaps? The item art sounds wonderful and love the description. C:

I do like the new version. The addition of the flower is lovely. The foot and leg look better too. The only thing that I see that they would criticize is that the hand sitting on the shoulder doesn't appear to have an arm attached to it. I know that's it's suppose to be behind the avatar, but I remember them giving someone hell because they couldn't see the back leg.

@EurusFaeriewillow The sketch is great! I don't know Ludo from Labyrinth, but a monster CW could be a great thing. (To be honest, that look on his face even reminds me of Ganon from Legend of Zelda.
 )The foot is better now, yes, and the rest of the sketch is really good, too, so I have almost nothing to say except this: The hand on the shoulder won't go through. It's a wonderful idea, but it just doesn't work. If you'd want to play Beauty and the Beast, for example, you would have to layer the dress above the troll which would instantly make the hand vanish. If someone wore really tight clothes with this, or separated skirt and top, it could work. I wanna just underline that the hand on the shoulder is a great idea, but won't always work. If you're okay with that, go on. If not, an alternative would pe to put the hand more to the right, open, as if the troll would catch the HA next second. I tried to draw it for you, but I suck. Please excuse this wonky sketch.   GIMME FWOWERS

@Mortician - I like the idea of an earth troll, I was originally thinking of making his horns on his head more tree like. I am planning on coloring him to have brown skin and green hair and spots (kind of moss-like if I can manage it.) Thanks for the critique and ideas. I really like the idea of making elemental trolls. I might have to run with that idea.  @Rawhide - I think I can add a line or 2 to make it look like an arm is attached to the hand, shouldn't be too hard. Thanks for the tip! @five - I was a little worried about layering with the hand that way, I really want the hand on the shoulder but I might try what you suggested and see how it looks, thank you! Glad you like his face, I do too. @lovey - I was thinking of changing the flower to a rose actually, in the final version. So I will go ahead and do that Edit: Thinking of renaming this item "Earthen Clod" and it will be a clod of dirt with a rose coming out of it. What do you think? Added an updated version to my original post with him holding a rose (of which I will put more detail and effort into in the final version.) I also gave him the indication of an arm attached to the hand. Last Edit by:

The arm looks better and I like the rose as well. I'm neutral on the hand being where it is. I think it gives it a little more character on the shoulder, but I can see where this may come to be a layering problem for some people. Whatever you choose is fine by me! I like the potential name change and item image too!

@Rawhide - Thanks! I went ahead and tried a version where the hand is no longer overlapping the shoulder. It has been posted to my original post. What do you think of that?

@Rawhide - I think I'll even change it a little more, making the hand more visible (for when people have long hair and wigs.) I like all three of them. I expect his hand to be big, because of being a monster and all but now the arm looks a little small. I don't think it looks bad, it will look better once colored but I'm predicting that they will say that the arm looks like it is just hanging in mid air behind the ha, because it doesn't "appear" to be attached to anything. Maybe if the arm was slightly bent to our left??

@Mortician @Rawhide - I went ahead and reworked the arm/hand again. I touched on the things you both talked about, a more visible hand and the arm is at an angle now. Both issues seemed to go along with the other. Artwork is in my original post, what do you think?

Tumblr x My CWs x CW Wips Hahah! The finger looks fantastic! I'm really digging the design more now C:. As Rawhide said the staff may pick on the arm "floating" behind the HA and could be fixed with a different perspective perhaps for example imagine bending your elbow out to your side while tapping someone on the shoulder, applying that idea to the artwork could fix the possible issue. Personally I like it as is

@furby - Thanks! I thought it was a nice touch too. @Mortician - I hope I can get it to go through as is. The arm is meant to be seen as his elbow being bent, with some perspective at play. The shoulder and the rest of the arm is behind the HA. He has a hairy elbow, which I think I can change a bit so it makes more sense. When I add the color I think it will look fine. Thank you for the comments, I appreciate them.

#FaeCW An update on my Troll companion, I have finished the black lines and will be ready to start coloring him tomorrow. Check original post for the image. @Mortician @Rawhide Thanks for all your help, I appreciate both of you for your comments and critiques. It's been very helpful.

#FaeCW @Mortician Would love your thoughts and critique on my choice of colors for this item. I posted a few colored images in my first post. Keep in mind that this is just the base color and I will be shading it appropriately (including hair detail.) Hi! As I said before, I really like your design for the troll. For the most part, I like the coloring as well, but I think the base body color is a little off : I had pictured the skin as a greenish, rather than brown. Also, I believe the green is the hair on it, but it looks a little weird with it suddenly becoming green to brown. Hope this helps

I actually think the brown would be fine if the green is maybe darkened a bit? That way it really is earthen (like made of earthen materials). I also think the change looks more natural now that it is lined a bit. Maybe you want to add little lines to show distinction in the hair?

Ahh OK I should've figured that XD But yeah, other than that stuff, it looks really great! Edit: @EurusFaeriewillow I am not sure how everyone else will think, but I really like the green version now. One thing I'd recommend, regardless of color, is to resize it to the size of how the HA will be, as details may be lost DX Last Edit by:

I really like the green one at this point. I like the gold/yellow horn and nails on the brown one though. It would be great if you could do a re-color of him in a purple and green. I remember seeing a picture of a monster in those colors once and thought they went well together. I tried to find the pic on google to give you an idea but I couldn't find it.

@EurusFaeriewillow Oh geez! XD Now I like all of them except the brown one! XD I definitely prefer the next to last one, but now I'm sort of second guessing if just the nails should have been yellow and the horns brown... But I do prefer the shades of brown and green on that one.

Tumblr x My CWs x CW Wips The colours look really great! My eyes instantly prefer the second one, but with yellow talons and horns perhaps. I'm finding that the greens on the other two are too harsh although the fourth one looks like it could work too. The yellow on the talons and horns could be changed to a more golden colour (as gold is an earth element) which I think could remove some of the harsh contrast between the green and yellow. The brown belly on the fourth one paired with the green from the second one could look really nice together. One thing I just noticed now is the horns on the beard look like they're stuck on XD. I'm sure you'll need to make it look like the hair is parting around it for the item to get passed. Are you going to paint the beard as fur or more like grass?
