When the sale was announced and I saw the shiny new adorable items I knew I really wanted to get the new set of animal posters, so I went ahead and bought them, the bonus red panda poster turned up in my inventory just as it was stated it would in the news post, and life was good.

Then I managed to sell off a few things and with the extra csc I decided I wanted to do something nice for a friend and thought I'd pick up a set of the posters for her. Checking in trades, it looked like I could get most of the posters there for 100csc, but no one was selling the red panda poster and I wanted to be able to get that for her as well so I went ahead and purchased a second set of the posters from the Cash Shop, only this time, no panda poster turned up.

Thinking it was a simple error, I made a ticket about it only to discover that the bonus items for purchasing sets are apparently viewed as prizes and thus limited to one per person.

Naturally, I'm now a little annoyed because if I'd know this was the case, I would have bought the original posters through shops/trades for cheaper, and would have known that I still needed to find a seller for the panda poster and to budget for that, or I would have just given my friend the csc for the set so she could purchase them herself.

I don't think that people need to have warnings for everything, but I do think it's poor form to let people run into things like this and then be all "yeah, we didn't tell you this before, but this is how it is, so tough luck". I'm a very active user and think I do a pretty good job keeping up with news posts and the forums and all, and I've never seen anything about limits on these. I really doubt that I'm the first one to run into this issue, and I'd guess that there's a decent chance that there is a mention of a limit somewhere buried in the forums, but I think it's highly unrealistic for the site to expect us to keep up with everything said on every single thread.

TL;DR: Aaaaaand this is getting a lot longer than I intended it to so I'm going to stop here. Long story short, I don't really get why there "one per person" bit comes into play on the bonus items so long as you've purchased a set from the CS, and I'm annoyed that I haven't seen any mention of said limit. Mostly I'm just disappointed that I spent the csc but didn't get an extra panda poster for my friend like I was trying to.

(p.s. I'm running on very little sleep right now so if this comes across as excessively whiney there's a good chance it comes in part from that, lol.)

I agree with you. Either they shouldn't be limiting the bonus item, or it should clearly state in the news post that you are only allowed one bonus even if you buy several sets.

Don't quote me here, but I believe the first time they did this...what was it, last Black Friday? I'm pretty sure they made it known then that it was one per account.
And it's been that way every time since.

Not saying I agree with it though. I think if you buy the full set more than once, you should get the bonus item.

@Archer
I actually just checked the archive and I'm not seeing any mention of a limit either last year or the year before for the black friday sales in the news posts. Just says there is a special item given out for purchasing x set. Thanks for reminding me to double check that though.

@Dannica
Hmm, it might have been said on the forums somewhere then. But I definitely knew they were limited.
I would check site feedback for it, but forum search is down for me.

This is really good to know for those of us who weren't here for last Black Friday and wouldn't know what was decided then. A mention in the news post would help, I think, especially if it isn't written down anywhere. That said, I agree, I'm not sure I see the reasoning behind one per person. I thought the point would be to encourage people to buy from the CSC store, and...wouldn't that encourage more purchasing?

This should be stated in the news or in the cash shop. If it's "In the forums somewhere" that should not count and users shouldn't have to go searching for it like that, especially when it's real money involved. I didn't know it was first purchase only, actually, either, and I am planning on getting the set, b/c, aw little deer , this is good to run into, even if it is, yet again "somewhere in the forums".

I don't think there should be a limit, myself, we're getting a bonus but oh for one time only ? Don't think that's right, but, eh.

I think I knew it was one set only, but even if it was said /once/ wherever it was said, I feel it should be reiterated whenever these sets are released for new players who could easily fall into this 'trap' -- and doing something like that early on is a great way to get annoyed and leave the site.

I never actually knew it was one bonus item per account, but I can see why it is like that. It's a feature to encourage more individual buyers to purchase from the cash shop. At least that's the reason I've imagined in my head lol

but a notice or something would be nice, that way people dont buy multiple sets for hoarding/gifting and expect the bonus items for it as well.

That sucks. ):

Yeah there are so many things on here that you just would never know unless you were around to see that one news post or whatever :/

Like the filled-flasks that say "feed to" instead of "use on" and turns your pet into a camel

Or heck, even the weapons revamp--if you weren't around during the big forum post and you don't frequent the battle chat a lot, why would you know about it? It's not like they posted about it on the BC news page, oh no. [edit I meant the board last year that the battle admins made announcing the revamp. People who missed that board were caught by surprise when the revamp went live.]

I have no idea there was only one per person. I mean logically I can see why it would make sense but at the same time it doesn't. You buy 5 items and get one free. That seems like something you should be able to get more than once because it'll encourage people to spend the money. I was planning on buying just one or two of the items and seeing if I could get the red panda in the shops. But obviously it's going to be insanely expensive and I'll just grab the bat poster I want from a user.

I could also see the argument to encourage each person to buy the full sets multiple times! I actually never buy sets like this for my friends, because I'm sure that if they'd like the full set, they'd also like the bonus item. And since you can only get one, they're better off buying through their own CS link. I can see both sides, though. I do agree that it'd be nice if it said that it was only a one-time bonus in the news each time these sort of sets are added.

I seriously do think that this should be changed, so that every time you buy a set, you get the bonus item. I don't see why not?

At the very least, there should be something said in every news post when sets like this are released, because not everyone was around to see the very first set news post stating you only get one bonus item per account.

oh wow I didn't realise it was only one per account. That's kinda sucky, what if you wanted athe bonus plushie for a gallery and your collection? It seems very mean and I do think it should be made much clearer.

@twocents

I agree with you there I see that side as well. I figured subeta was going with the logic a lot of retailers use that it costs more money/promotions to attract a single new buyer that will eventually become a regular customer, than it does to keep someone who already is a frequent loyal customer interested in buying things.

Well, with new members, they should also post a declaimer for newbies that one set you will get one bonus item. No harm no foul. It is an incentive to buy the whole set. I love all the bonus items.

@Dannica I found out pretty much the same way you did only it was way back when. Probably the first time they did something like this.
I think it is ridiculous though. Any store in the country that advertises buy 3 get one free (however many) gives you one for every 3. Not one overall. I have never seen it in my life, and it has been a fairly long life.

Finally fierce. Almost.

I have never heard this, nor have I ever really thought about it. It seems that you should be able to get the bonus item every time you buy a full set. It's not like the site is being ripped off in any way, you're still buying a full set every time. What's the harm in that?

@Georgie
That was kind of my thought - "buy x and get z free!" promotions usually can be used more than once so I thought it would apply here as well. Particularly given the number of people who collect these sorts of items for treasure chests or galleries or whatever and would be likely to purchase more than one set.

I can understand that they're trying to get more people to use the cash shop, but I really don't see the harm in allowing people to get the bonus for purchasing multiple sets although I suppose I could be overlooking something.

I do think that it's really nice to get a bonus for purchasing a set of items - I think it's a nice incentive for us as users - and really hope that this topic doesn't come across as one of those "waaa, everything should be free!" complaints! I just don't understand the reasoning behind the current limitations on them.

Another thing that bothers me about this is that nowhere on the Cash Shop page where you buy the items tell you about getting a full set would get you a bonus item, nor is there any indication which sets would have such bonuses (or what items belong to a set for that matter). You'd have to have read the announcement to know.

I don't know how long those sets are gonna be in there, but if someone were to sign up a month from now, they're not gonna go digging through the news archives (especially since there's no tagging system or anything to single out CS related news from every other news) to find the announcement, and they wouldn't know about the sets, and may only buy one or two items instead of the full set.
