I love my Mugi very much, no doubt about this, but sometimes I'm not sure what goes through her head.

First off, she didn't let me sleep even a little bit last night so that had me angry enough but when I tried to put in my headphones, I found this.

Arghblargh

Now I just feel sad... I have new headphones so it's okay I guess but they STILL WORKED. I didn't plan on them giving up the ghost for another full year because, ipod headphones are troopers. My cat... chewed through them. I don't even.

First she keeps me up all night and then she chews through a perfectly good pair of ear phones? What?

CC, have your cats done stupid things recently? QnQ

It's terrible isn't it? Then she had the nerve to look at me with that adorable face and I just wanted to throw her off the bed and ignore her but... I scratched her behind the ears. The heck? Stupid cat.

I don't even, after keeping me up all hours of the night.

My cat Stubby can be a little devil sometimes too. He loves chewing through my headphones whenever he has the chance so at night I have to make sure they're somewhere he can't reach. I must have gone through over a dozen (admittedly cheap) pairs because of him.

My Princess loves earbuds. Only the in ear earbuds. I think it's the rubber that she likes to nom on. I had a very cheap pair that I swear every night I had to play hunt for the earbuds because no matter where I put them she'd find them. Lucky for her she wasn't the one who broke them, I did. Now I have a $20 pair of skullcandy earbuds. She knows if she even looks at these it's off with her head. The turd still wants them. I caught her a few times snooping around the box I keep them in. The ipod ones I had by the computer are now missing in action. Pay back I guess for not letting her nom my good ones.

On the other hand, I had a cat that once chewed through not one, but three tv cables. The one going to the tv, the one going from the tv to the vcr, and the one going to the cable box, total of two different tvs. lol that explained why all of the sudden the tv reception got horrible. Impressed the cable guy when he came to figure out the problem. He though at first we had a rabbit that got up there.

My cat...uhhh... chews on my bras.
Well, anything with straps she pulls out of my drawers or hamper. And I can't really do much about it because she can open doors. Stupid smart cat. >.<
She also tries to eat plants, which is annoying because she always throws up after eating them. I mean I feel bad, but seriously, by now, I think she has figured out that the plants are making her sick.

My cat's getting pretty old now (she's maybe 15/16) and going totally senile. She just gets a wild hair and runs through the house all willy-nilly. But in the past six months or so, she's picked up this weird habit of stealing clean socks out of my laundry basket and running through the house with them. She'll carry them around like a dog, throw them in the air, bat at them with her paws. It's really funny but kind of frustrating when I go to find socks for work and can't find any. I've never had her chew through any of my electronics cords or anything. We don't have any issues with our other cat chewing anything up either. He's too lazy for that. I might be getting a new kitten at the end of the month so I might have to kitten-proof the house again since we haven't had a little kitty in so long.

@Epathia I moved out for the summer and only go home occasionally. I have three cats. In my mind I was like "oh they're going to cuddle with me all night!" hahaha....no. They fought ALL night, kept scratching/knocking things over/jumping on me... I didn't get ANY sleep.

My one cat destroys everything if I don't wake up when she wants me to. Her list so far includes (but is not limited to) my new couch, my headphones, anything including wires of any kind, picture frames, ANYTHING hanging on the wall....cats are weird.

@Epathia

My mother was in the shower, my bedroom door was open, my cat was 'lonely'. She really hates if we're home and one of us isn't there to absorb attention from. So, she rectified it. By meowing in my ear.

My mattress is directly on the floor so when she sits beside it she is mighty close. I happened to be asleep, laying on one side. All I heard was a loud meow, and woke up with a start to see her squinting lovingly at me right beside my head. She then stretched, blurted, and walked out.

Lazard is still a baby, so he likes to nom nom everything. If you want to keep something you have to wrestle it away from him. He also really likes to play around the Xbox when we're playing it. He has yet to turn it off, thank goodness, but we're always scared he will. He also loves to play when it's time to sleep. He gets in the bed with you and runs up and down the length of your body trying to get you to get up and play.

Captain is older and she's sneakier. The worst she does to me is when I'm crocheting, she will lay next to me and act disinterested. When I ignore her and really get into it, I wind up with an empty end piece even though I'm not done with the skein. She will ninja chew through the yarn as I go along.

That sucks.
My friend's cat chewed my ear phones once though. She brought me a new pair. I felt kinda bad, though lol
But suprinsingly, though,. my cats don't chew anything. Well...nothing like that. One of my cats nibbled my toe when we first got her, and my other cat likes to eat my leg and hand. But my cat likes anything sweet or salty. He legit eats anything.

hahaha, oooh the cat stories.
My cat Luna likes to wake people up by opening the bottom bathroom cabinets and then she lets it slam shut. She will do this until we get up so we've started to close the bathroom door before bed. Then, during feeding time she will hover around the bowl and basically block me from putting anything in to it because she's so excited.
Another cat, Summer, would wake us up by sitting right next to our pillows and she would purr very loudly as well as tickling our faces with her whiskers.
Ellie, our chubby calico, will take over an entire stair and she won't move for anyone. It was very scary when she first started doing this because she's mostly black and it's hard to see her at night. We thought we'd step on her so now there's a night light for the staircase.
Oliver, our now deceased fluffy orange cat, user to try and get out every time we let the dogs out. He succeeded one day when he was very old and we're fairly certain he found a place to lay himself to rest.
My baby tuxedo cat, Mara, is such an angel. She's the most behaved kitty I have ever had.

So busy today!! Sorry it's taken so long to reply!

@nerdlicious
Oh wow!! Mine came with an ipod shuffle and thankfully I'd just gotten an iphone that had new ones. >3< I'm paranoid about having them anywhere near her. So much loss.

@Fai

Woah. We had a rabbit once who was just as bad about chewing wires! She randomly disappeared one day, but my dad (who is a computer person and has tons of wires) just hated her being around his room and stuff. Omg. Rabbits are the chewiest of chewing animals. ._.

@Vibranium

My bestie, Eiikare, suggested a spray that helps against kittens and various other animals chewing on things. It's extremely bitter so if you try it BEWARE of getting it on your hands. It's stopped Mugi from chewing on more important things but since I handled my ear buds regularly... I never sprayed them. It works pretty well!

@Misanthropy

That sounds like a nightmare... Mugi loves to knock stuff over, only to end up terrifying herself. Boyfriend and I emptied the living room and he helped me move to the back room so I can sleep properly... I still feel worried that she might destroy something. D8 Cats are... stressful indeed.

@Nightingale

Oh my gosh! XD I'm sorry, I giggled a little bit!

@Renga

Oh my goodness, so many kitty stories! I love Mara and I don't even know her but she sounds absolutely wonderful! So cute!

@Crescendoll

Oh my gosh... bras. I don't even... I only have a couple of bras and I'd be horrified if Mugi got into them. I think cats have short term memory, mine keeps doing stupid stuff like that too and forgetting that it bothers her. 8/

Funny story. She met my boyfriend yesterday, loves him so much and then the next morning he walks out and suddenly she flairs up like: "There's an intruder!!" and she won't get near him. 8/ Took her like ten minutes to realize he was the same guy, only wearing pajamas.

I know exactly how you feel. My youngest cat LOVES to chew on technology cords, and too many times has he destroyed things. For example, headphone cords - both of earbud and expensive over the ear ones, my Nintendo DS charger cord, and most aggravating of all my computer cord. I swear to god, I had my laptop for like... a couple months and already had to replace the cord because the little boy chewed it. Needless to say, I was not impressed. I love this cat to death, but dear god, sometimes I just want to scream.

My other cat absolutely adores plastic. Anything plastic she loves to chew on it - bags, especially. Very irritating to be woken up at some ungodly hour because my cat has somehow managed to find the one plastic bag in my room and start chewing on it.

If I had a nickel for every time my Vanilla has bitten through earbuds, I'd be rich. She dumps things off their shelves on a daily basis, she tortures my grass snake by sitting on his cage(He was a wild snake, and freaks out whenever she does this.), she pukes all the time from eating too fast, if I'm away from home too long or don't give her enough attention she'll poop on my rug, she inadvertently breaks things, she licks my fan when it's on for no reason and her licking causes lots of noise, she likes to wake me up in the middle of the night, she likes to tear up any paper items, if there is anything that produces a crackle sound when touched she WILL find it, and she WILL destroy it, I can't have plants in my room because she'll eat them but yet she won't touch the plant that I bought specially for her to eat on, and I also have to get special metal string since she has this weird obsession with biting on regular strings until they break.

But I still love my little co-dependent, devious kitty of mine.

My cat doesn't chew on anything but he does love baskets. Chances are if you have looked everywhere for him, he's sprawled out inside a laundry basket. He does like to steal my hair elastics if I have them on the floor.

Wow... it's extremely stressful when cats do these things. I keep stuff really high up and remove any possible way she can jump up to these areas. It's so expensive to have to replace all those things!

@Renga

Awww, I want to see!

Mugi! I posted a picture of her as an eight week old a day after I got her! She's growing up so fast!

@Silverwolf

She sounds so stressful but it's good that you love her! Mine does a lot of crazy things too. Lately she's been testing my boyfriend's tolerance of her and he actually lost patience with her tonight and put her in timeout until she stopped meowing. xD One can only handle so much scratching and biting.

We currently have 6 kitten (4 at 2 months, 2 at 1 month) so I feel your pain. And their mothers of course.
They do chew on cords but I don't think they have ruined any of them yet. But oh god, they have so much energy. You can hear them racing through the house and then at night they jump around on me, playing.

Also one of the adults had this habit of stomping in and dragging the water bowl across the floor when it was empty and she was thirsty. It made a hell of a noise. Now imagine that happening at 4 am or something.
Luckily though it seems she has stopped doing it, now she patiently waits next to it.

Very stressful. In the past she's also broken a expensive flat screen tv by trying to climb on it. More recently, she managed to open the lid to my corn snakes cage the other day and he got out. Scared me half to death, but I found him. But then there are the times when she comes to me in my bed and sleeps with me on my pillow, or when she cries for me to come to her when I've been gone a while, and it makes it all worth it.

How can you possibly put a cat in a timeout? xD Maybe she wanted some food or something. I looked at the picture you posted by the way, she's adorable c:

Oh my word, that does sound terrifying! D8 I actually read that topic recently but I didn't post on it! Awww, those things do make it so worth it!

J put her in the cat carrier, you can't let them out until they stop meowing or they will think they can get their way by crying the whole time. When she stopped, we let her out and she actually chilled and stopped biting and scratching him! Time out works if done correctly. XD

EDIT

Thank you! She was half asleep in that picture!

A few years ago, I had this devil kitten with teeth from hell. He would chew every cable into non-existence and I was surprised he didn't get shocked (many of the cords were plugged in). He also had an extremely bad habit of biting. Not just play biting. I mean, draw-blood-and-then-never-let-go biting. :s And he would make these really weird growling sounds when he did it, too.

My cat Bruce (named after Bruce Wayne of course, hurhur) doesn't really chew, or intentionally try to cause trouble. Generally, he's pretty well-behaved, but of course he has his little hangups.
He loooves to watch the birds in our backyard, so in the summer I open my bedroom window and let him flick his tail and chitter and chatter to his heart's content. This year, I've started leaving the window open even when I'm not in the room; big mistake. At first he made a hole in the screen big enough that he could stick his head out. So I lowered the window a little to block that hole. He reached his paw up and around the window pane to snag the hole on his claws, and make it bigger, so he could reach it again. This process was repeated a couple times, and now the hole is a fourth of the whole screen, so I can't let him have window time unsupervised.
Once, my mom opened a window that doesn't have a screen, and fifteen minutes later our neighbor called and told us that our cat was outside. On the roof. It took ten minutes of coaxing and a huge bag of kitty treats to get him back inside, but boy did he like having such a great vantage point!

Speaking of kitty treats, there is nothing he won't do to get them. I set a bag on top of my TV (which was, admittedly, an ancient Magnavox I got from craigslist for $10) and not even five minutes later he'd knocked the TV over and broken it, just so he could snatch the bag of treats and take off with them.

He's tough enough to fight off our big dogs (a retriever and a Saint). He freaks out at the smell of my hand lotion. He actually really hates catnip. He loves to chase my siblings' cats, who are older and bigger, all over the house. He has about half a million nicknames.

Previously Comatose and Shamrock.

It was :c I was so scared that she had gotten him out of his cage and killed him! And I know :3

Yeah, they work, but my cat does so many bad things that if I were to put her in a timeout every time she got in trouble she'd never leave her crate xD Plus, she is sneaky and usually does bad things when I'm asleep/away from home, and by the time I found what she did, it'd be too late to punish her, since she wouldn't understand why she was being punished. And you're welcome c: I can tell xD

@PunkyNinja
My cat likes to chew on thin cords, but with thick cords(like Tv cords) she'll just unplug them. I wouldn't keep a cat like that though, there are too many wires for him to get electrocuted and everything with a wire would be ruined. Did you give him up after realizing that you wouldn't be able to keep him from chewing the wires?

I am so glad your snake is okay! What a relief that she didn't get him!

Oh goodness, I see now! D8 Mugi has been a lot better since my boyfriend has been here. He's proving to be a very strict parent and she's learning not to mess with him too much and even less with me since... when she scratches me he gets more upset. XD

I used to put her up in a room for a while and she decided eventually (after perpetually being a pain in the butt), that it was her play room and she could do whatever the heck she wanted. Boyfriend lives in there now, so she's confused. 8/ She thinks he's a burglar.

@Shamrock

All I can say is wow to everything! Especially him being on the roof, I kind of giggled, I'm sorry! He sounds like a handful but he sounds so cute too!

@Epathia - Miss Faithy likes tape. She has a serious adhesive addiction, so anything with any kind of sticky has to be put in drawers so she doesn't lick and chew it to death. She LOVES scotch tape, went through a few before I figured it out I let her chew on tape from mailing packages when we get them, hehe. She has very very sharp claws, and uses them ever so gently to poke me on my arm to wake me up for pets and love. She'll just keep patting with her claws out until I pet her or get up and feed the POOR STARVING PERISHING KITTYCATS YOU BAD OWNER YOU. She's a fatty fat but she's a good fatty fat

Miss Lucy likes to run across me and walks across my boobs and jumps from things onto my shoulder. I have to hold real still and hope she doesn't misjump, or she'll claw me down my back/arm/boobs. She's pretty good, and only claws now if I don't know she's jumping and scare her. She's also picking up the adhesive nomming from Faith and that's why everything has to be put away, while Faith can't jump up on things higher than my bed, Lucyboots can. Lucy also likes to chew up cardboard. She's destroyed so many boxes.....

Mr Lystie, well he's only destructive to catnip and the occasional mouse, although he's 12 now, so he's not too destructive anymore, he just likes to take over my entire lap and push my laptop off and lay across my arms and purr until he feels like getting down. My arms fall asleep sometimes b/c he is a big tank of a purrito.

They are my good kitty babies

Hehe. This sounds exactly like our kitty J.R. If I sit down with my laptop, he's in my lap immediately and takes up all the space. If I'm sitting at the desktop, he gets in my lap so I can't even use the keyboard. XD

I've had a cat chew my phones too. Now they stay in a drawer or my purse when I'm not using them. Cats...whatever are we going to do with them? They're lucky they're so damn cute. My Holly (7-year-old tabby girl) and Emma (almost 1-year-old grey tuxedo girl) go through their naughty phases every once in a while. Just after dinner tonight, I was sitting on the couch messing about on my kindle and CRASH. I look up and there's Emma sitting there cleaning her paws, looking all innocent, with the rocking chair knocked over. Little bugger.

Sorry for late reply, my keyboard died on me..
@Epathia
I know, I was almost certain he was was at least hurt, since she always shows great interest in him whenever he's in his cage :c But thankfully he was hidden from her.

Hm. Maybe you should try cat nail caps? It doesn't hurt them, but it prevents them from scratching things. Supposedly it works great, but my cat refuses to keep them on. No matter what I do she always bites them off. At first I thought that maybe she just had to get use to them, so every time she took one off I would glue it back onto her nail, but after 2 months of doing at least 2 nails a day, I figured she wasn't going to suddenly change and stop biting them off. I guess it just depends on how tolerant your cat is to things being on them. Or, if you haven't already tried this, you could just clip her nails so they aren't so sharp. It still hurts a little since the tip will be rough, but it's a lot better than having a pointed tip scratching you.

My cat and I share my room, she basically lives in my room Being a cat, it would seem like one room isn't enough room for her, but she doesn't really care about how much room she has. As long as she has a couple things specially for her to climb, a few toys, and a large window she can lay down next to, she's perfectly content. Thing is she sometimes has a problem distinguishing what is mine and what's hers, and often uses/abuses my stuff. I would allow her to roam around the house, but if I did she would be able to escape outside(We have a doggy door for our small dog. I wouldn't have a problem with her going outside every now and then, but considering she's a very pretty cat, and the fact that somebody stole our two other cats, I don't want to take the chance of losing her too.), and she would only see me once in a while since I never have my door open for the animals to wander into my room.

Ah. I think cats like that are more suited to life on a farm anyways c:

I think I am replying equally as late! 83 No worries!

Yeah, actually! We are looking into her claw caps pretty soon because she is using us as mountain climbing practice. 8/

She sounds like a very complicated kitty! It's sad that someone took a couple of your other cats, that's just cruel! OnO Mine has to be an indoor cat because we live in an apartment and we are on the second floor with a balcony, she never gets to go outside! I'm certain that she wishes she was as wild as she looks. xD

Ah, good! I think they're like $15, or something like that for a 1 month supply. I thought they would help keep my cat from tearing up my rugs and other stuff, but apparently we just needed to get her a different type of scratching material. Now she rarely scratches anything but her special scratching post.

She is, but I suppose I prefer a complicated kitty rather than a normal everyday kitty. I know :c The first cat to be stolen was a pure black cat with green eyes named Midnight, I had found him in an abandoned lot as a small kitten. He had always disappeared around Halloween(And, since he's black with green eyes, every Halloween we became worried.), but he always came back. But a few years ago, he never came back. I haven't seen him since. The black yellow-eyed cat that lived across the street also disappeared. The second cat we had was a gray tabby named Misty, who was the sister of our other cat. I didn't much mind her being stolen though. She was a brat who hated all of us, and only came home for food. I honestly don't know how somebody stole her. She ran from every human who came near her, even though we raised her the same way we raised her people-friendly brother.

Oh cool! We found a sight where we can get them for eighteen dollars and they come with like forty of them! We're getting them in pastel pink. XD

Aww! Poor kitties... OnO That's so sad that someone could just take cats like that! We had a beautiful calico that disappeared one day a long time ago, she was always wandering but she just didn't come back one day. It really makes you wonder what goes through a cat's head, huh?

I think that's what we got. I know one site had them at $15 for one month(or, 20 caps.), but my mom looked around more and found a better deal. Though, I dislike pink, so we got purple

Do you think she was stolen, or just wandered off and never returned? And that's probably why people don't like cats, because they wander from home often. But, you know, dogs are worse than cats in my opinion. Yeah cats wander off a lot, but they usually come home. Dogs on the other hand tend to find a way to intentionally escape and never return. People also think cats are independent, and although most are independent, I've found that if you properly train your cat, they can become even more dependent on their owner than dogs. I've found this out with Vanilla, of course.

Oh I see! I don't have many choices in kitten sized! Plus... it's so unfitted to her personality that my manfriend and I think it's funny somehow. xD I'd rather have her in red later, when she gets bigger!

We have no idea! She didn't seem too old though and she always came back but yeah, she's the only cat that's ever happened with, our others either went to good homes (we had litters of kittens) or were just given away in general. Mugi is the first cat I've had in a while so I am a first time parent to a cat without having supervision. So far so good, she's been wonderful and she is turning out to be a lap cat!

She's still a kitten? I was thinking she was an adult xD

Oh, I see. I guess some cats just don't mind leaving home for good. We always spayed/neutered our cats, but one of our use-to-be-indoor cats got pregnant before we could spay her. She had four kittens I think, but one was too weak since it was her first litter, and died :c One of the other kittens was given to my brother, and the two others were given away. Vanilla is the first cat I've had that's truly been mine, and my only regret is that I didn't prepare my room better when I got her. I didn't really know what I was getting into, and as a result she destroyed a lot of my things... Anyways, I've found that if you get them as a kitten and put a lot of effort and time into them, they'll basically mold into the perfect cat for you. Well, maybe not perfect, but as close to perfect as you can get. You can even train them to walk on a leash like a dog, as long and you start walking them on a leash early on. Hopefully Mugi will turn out to be your near perfect cat c:
