Welcome to Avant-Garde's second annual public contest! Hosted by the art-dedicated cult Avant-Garde, this contest is open to any and all kinds of art. Your mission will be to draw our mascot, Joli!

NON-AVARDIANS ARE ALSO ENCOURAGED TO PARTICIPATE! Don't be shy, this contest is meant for EVERYONE on Subeta, not just our cult members!

THIS YEAR'S THEME IS: ~

Joli in the movies!

~
Use the theme of "Joli in the movies" when drawing our mascot! Incorporate Joli into a movie poster, or draw her in a well-known scene or role from a movie. Silly entries or serious entries are both okay!

Personality Information!

○ All entries need to be submitted by ~~July 31st~~. EXTENDED TO AUGUST 31st.
○ Both traditional and digital art is accepted, however effort must be evident.
○ Please limit yourself to 1 entry.
○ Our members will choose the winners by popular vote at the end of the contest.
○ Once an entry is submitted, you agree to letting us do as we please with the art, whether you place or not. This includes displaying the art on our pet profile for Joli, and use in graphics/advertising for the cult. You will be credited in any scenario if we use your art.
○ No gore, violence, or overt sexual content - keep your movie ideas PG-13, please!

NOTE by orangecake:
There's no specific limitations that you have to worry about! It can be a plain image or you can include date/fake info to make it look like a "real" movie poster, but you're not limited in any way. Also, feel free to make up your own movie, but if you do, give us some info about the genre and plot or something so we know that it's related to the theme of "movies" and not just, y'know, a pretty picture of Joli. Not that we don't love those too, but you know.

Prizes are dependent on the total number of entries received, so these will increase as we get more entries!

Second place: 10 mil sP + 250 CSC

AG members:
First place: 15 mil sP + 500 CSC + 2000 nibs!
Second place: 10 mil sP + 250 CSC + 1000 nibs!

Runner-up prizes will also be awarded if we get a substantial number of entries. c:

We will also be giving away up to ten

Orgosh-- uhm, ahhr... D : I'm debating entering this. xD; I'm excited to see a contest like this, cos I didn't know this is something AG does, but at the same time I'm not so sure I like the theme, and I'm worried about my entry being laughably fail, especially compared to the others, so... I dunno. Either way I look forwards to what other people come up with, and I hope you guys get a satisfying number of entries.

If I do enter this, I would go with the movie poster option, but I'm Mr. Always-Worry-I'll-Do-Something-Wrong, so I'm just wondering if there are any rules on that I should be aware of? As in, can I just draw a picture and give it a poster-like composition, or do I have to put things like a date/info on it to make it look as though it really is a movie poster? Also I was assuming it doesn't have to be a poster for a specific/existing movie-- or does it? I was thinking I could come up with my own concept for a Joli movie, but if that isn't an option please let me know.

You are correct, we are not accepting photomanipulations. Our cult is mainly about drawing and art, and so while photomanipulation does require certain skills, it's not really what we're looking for!

We're allowed to make up secondary characters for the movie plot/setting, I assume? It would be pretty hard to build a world and plot that revolves solely around Joli. So I wanted to clarify if we can add other characters in before all the thought I put into building a world goes to waste, haha.

Well... in the end I've decided I won't be entering this. July has been a busy month for me, and I had been planning on doing something creative for this, but ultimately I'd rather just draw a picture of Joli on my own time. I don't really want any prizes, so it'd just make more sense. Good luck to everyone who has entered and is still planning to! Hopefully people won't be afraid to ask for an extension if they need it.
