Lol, I love the summer. It gets hot, but I seem to deal with it alright. Plus, I get to go swimming thursday! /excitedd
The only thing not so good about summer is fire. Lots and lots of fire.

I'm taking the second half of my Chem class.

Oh, it is. It just isn't my thing so it's on the relatively hard side for me. XP

Eh. I could do without the humidity here, but I guess that's just me.

@Madeline
I'm taking my first ~actual~ chemistry course next year.... And the taste of chemistry i've had before is not okay with me. UGSRHGJKS Not sure I'm looking forward to it.

Ooooooh.

I wouldn't judge it off of what you experienced already. The two courses can end up being entirely different an you'll want to go into your chemistry course next year with as little bias as possible. That'll make it easier to gauge how well you get along with chemistry.

@agentboo & @Madeline
Chemistry is fun! Haha, I took a year of it my junior year of high school, and I'll be taking a semester of it here my first term of college. I'm excited about it, but nervous at the same time. I enjoyed it pretty well, but I found it to be challenging sometimes. I had a really good teacher in high school though, so that made a big difference for me. I'm looking forward to it here in college, but I'm just hoping I get a good teacher, otherwise it could be a little rough.

Also @agentboo
Humidity does kind of suck. It's a rather dry heat here, which is why there's so much fire.

I had high school chem and I did fine with that, but then I failed my first semester of college chem so that's why I'm nervous. :c
I ended up retaking that specific class over again in my second semester and just barely scraping by with a C. Now I'm playing catch up for the next time I need to take a chem course (which I'm hoping is never again since I'm a Molecular and Cellular Biology major, but something tells me I'll be needing organic chemistry at least once).

Ouchie, I can see how that would make you nervous
I'm worried that the college classes are going to be so drastically different from high school and I'm going to find myself overwhelmed. I'm starting by taking 15 credits my first semester, and two of my classes are science classes (chem and bio) and both have labs. Before I registered for classes, when I was planning what to take and stuff, I wondered if taking both of those at the same time was a good idea, but I had to look and the big picture and realize that if I didn't, I would never get through all of the classes I need to get though. So here I am, insanity-bound and probably going to regret it haha. I'm pretty sure I'm going to have zero social life my first semester xD

Ah. I'm going into my sophomore year of high school and taking Chemistry, and I've heard a couple horror stories about the course? It might have been the teacher, might jsut have been the student, but either way. I'm trying not to stress over it right now, but.... eh.

Well, I can't speak for your school or teachers, but I personally quite enjoyed my high school chemistry. I'm really into the sciences, so that played a part in it for me too. I don't know how you feel about sciences, but if you like them, I would think that it could be at least somewhat enjoyable. If your school is anything like mine though, there aren't really any "cool" experiments because all the cool ones are considered "dangerous" haha. That's one reason I'm looking forward to the college level chemistry, because I'm hoping we can actually do some cool stuff.

But you're right, no reason to stress over it right now. It's summer! Vacation time! Sit back and relax while you still have the time! c:

@Eileen

For my first semester, they had staff help us pick our classes and the one that was helping me lied to me about being able to fit a bio (or was it math.....? Either way) class into my schedule. I ended up with, like, 14 credits or something like that once it was all finished. Not exactly the most comfortable position to be in when you're not doing well in a course and end up failing it. :S

As for taking chem and bio together, it's possible. I did that last semester.
Chem is definitely going to be a lot of lab reports. If it's anything like my course, that's the only mandatory homework you'll get. It's still good to do the readings and any suggested homework problems from the book, but if you don't have time to just sit down and do them, only do the homework for the sections you need more practice in and do them when you've got time to do so.

For bio, my class was pretty stressful (most of the class failed so the professor had to curve it a lot) but it was all the professor and his teaching style and not the work load.
The workload was mostly reading with the occasional lab report. We had to turn in stuff from each lab, but we only had to write three lab reports and the lab professor told us generally what to put in each section just to make sure we didn't miss anything important that was hiding in the lab book's procedures and data pages (as well as stuff that needed to be included but couldn't be found in the lab book).

If your bio professor is anything like my professor, you will want to do the readings no matter what else you've got going on while you read, take a freaking highlighter to it so you don't have to reread entire chapters just to study. Seriously. It's not fun. :S
My professor taught much too fast for anyone to follow. Only two people had A's in the class without the curve, but one was had his Masters degree in who-knows-what and the other was pre-med. Everyone else... Erm. Let's just say the grades ranged from B's to Z's.

@Madeline
Oh my....that actually sounds kind of awful.
Unfortunately, I've always been one of those students who does all the work, everything, regardless if it's required. I'm the student who has a 98% in class and still does every piece of extra credit that comes along. That's just how I am (obsessiveeeee!)
I never did like doing the lab reports because they were just kind of annoying to me, but my teacher always seemed to think I did a really good job, because she complimented me frequently (and even thanked me once for actually following directions on it when apparently almost no one else did). It wasn't fun, but I did pretty well on it, so imagine I can pull together the same kind of work.
As far as book reading, I'm kind of half and half on that being helpful. I know it's quite a bit different in college and the book is pretty much expected to be read on your own time and whatnot, but in my high school days I found that part of the time, doing the required reading out of the book didn't really help me understand, but the lecture by my teacher made perfect sense, and other times the book was just fine and made sense and the lecture complimented it. I'm just hoping I don't run into anything in either of my science classes that is so simple, yet completely complicated and my brain just can't figure it out. Lol, I remember one time in chemistry, there was this concept (I don't remember specifically what now) that was pretty simple to understand, and it made sense to everyone, but there was an added factor to it, a situation of some sort in addition to what we talked about in class, that just downright boggled my mind. The concept itself made sense, but this added factor had me going "now wait....WHAT?" It drove me crazy until I had it explained to me.
It mostly came from me thinking beyond just the stuff we talked about in class, beyond the information we covered, which was something my fellow classmates did very little of haha.

ANYWAY. ALL THIS SCHOOL TALK IS KIND OF DRIVING ME CRAZY.
I'm about to celebrate my birthday with my best friend and some other stuff. I don't want to think about school xD

HOW'S LIFE BESIDES SCHOOL RELATED STUFF?

#Mafia

Looking over each shoulder, Eileen moved down the lonely sidewalk. After the coast was completely clear, she darted up a set of shady stairs. A manilla folder stuck out of the purse clutched between her arm and body. She had secured it there before making her way to her destination.

As she approached the large doorway, she peered over her shoulder. Nothing. Good. Bending at the waist, she clutched the manilla folder in her hands and weaved it through the slit next to the door. She had been instructed as to where to place the folder with the name of her protected client. It had been a hard choice, but with her previous skills, she had been able to hopefully pick who she had felt was innocent. Perhaps she was right, perhaps she was wrong, but her track record suggested the former.

Turning on her heels, she hopped down the stairs, feeling happy that she was helping out their cause. As she made her way down the main street towards her road, she clutched the strap of her purse around her shoulder. A grin spread across her face as she played out an imaginary meeting tomorrow. An innocent about to be banished from the team, but she steps in to save the day!

"Hello?"

Eileen grabbed for her fast-beating heart as she jumped to the side. She glanced at her thought's intruder.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you."

She laughed it off, waving her hand in the air. "It's okay. It's just with the recent events, my bravery has diminished a little."

"As has mine! Actually, that's why I called for you," the person began. "You see, I was trying to unlock the doors to my house when I heard something inside my house. I don't live with anyone, so you can imagine how scared I am. I don't own a cell phone, or I would call for the police. Would you mind?"

She reached towards her purse, fishing around to find her small cell phone. Her thumbs hovered over the 9-1-1 buttons as she expressed her want to help. As the phone began to ring, she turned her gaze to the ground. As soon as a voice asked what her emergency was, something hit her across the head, creating a tunnel of darkness to take over her vision. She caught a glimpse of the person she was supposed to be helping hovering over her with a smirk as she sunk to the ground.

--

"Everyone back away, it's my turn to examine the evidence." I pushed aside onlookers as they crowded around the city hall's stairway.

Bending down towards the package, I pulled the sunglasses from my face and set them on the ground next to me. I hovered my hands over a note attached to the large, shimmering gold package in front of me. Happy birthday, it proclaimed. A very special package for all the town, to help us all celebrate the birth of a new era. To bad poor Eileen could not be with us on this joyous occasion. Last we checked, as we were closing the box for wrapping, she was a little burned out.

Painstakingly Plotting,
-The Mafia

In that instance, I knew exactly what was inside the package. The ashes of our Lawyer. Curling my hand into a fist, I lifted it above the ground, ready to strike. A hush fell around the crowd. I gathered my senses and let my fist collapse. It was time to vote.

It is now day time. Everyone, please vote!

Reminder for newer players: Your votes must be in a code box in order to be counted. The code box is: [*CODE]VOTE HERE[*/CODE] – just remove the asterisks.

Sorry this is coming to you guys so late, I was out dancing tonight. B)

@Madeline
It's not that far into our queue. Actually, I wonder if it is on streaming. In that case, I can watch it whenever I want.

@Eileen

Yup. As of the first few days or so, you're guesses will probably be mostly random. You can choose not to vote if you'd rather not. After more people start getting out, start REALLY looking at who is voting for whom and the results of who dies during the night. Strategies can start being formed then as to who to vote for.

And lol, that's the best part about these first few days. NO ONE has a clue who to vote for (except for the mafia of course, who know exactly who and who not to vote for) and so as a result, everyone goes into accusatory mode and picks others at random. And there's the bandwagons, gotta love those haha.

The really fun part is when there's a tie between two (or more) people, and someone has to break it, otherwise we go into overtime (which in my opinion kind of sucks because that's another 24 hours before the game carries on). And the people getting voted on are always nervous, especially those caught in the tie, because everyone worries that they're going to be picked as the tie breaker and be out. And that sucks too
