how about anyone else.

i swear no matter what exercise plan I follow, I always have to stop before it's over because my body literally feels like it wants to shut down. lol

i lost 50 lbs a couple of years ago and i've just been chilling at a normal weight but I obvs am not toned because I didn't exercise as much as I should have when I lost the weight (lost it via diet, or lack thereof)

so i want to tighten and lose a few more lbs but I physically can't.

i feel like an obese person in a normal persons body. fml

how do you motivate yourself to keep going when you're dying?

Hey! I'm glad you're working out!
It can be difficult to get through any work out but it's best to just start out small and work your way up. If you want to get toned you need to lift weights instead of doing straight up cardio. I would suggest warming up with 15 minutes on an elliptical or a treadmill, you don't have to go fast, but try to get your heart rate up and start sweating!
If you need to take a break, take one! Nobody is going to judge you for doing what you can. When I'm working out and it hurts and I jsut want to quit I just think of my new bikini.

I use to be in really good shape and would work out everyday. What got me wanting to go more and push harder each day was having someone there. I had a friend who would come work out with me and we would encourage each other and push one another to go further. I also kept a log book of what we did on a daily basis and how much we weighed on the weekly so we could see that we were improving.

OMFG. I feel the exact same way. I was hardcore into track and other sports all my life until University. So at 5'9 I weighed 125 lbs. I then started to gain weight. It was fine at first because I gained in the boob/butt area on top of the muscle I had. Then came the love handles. And arm fat. And my stomach is only flat if it's empty (aka no ab/core muscles to speak of LOL). I used to be able to run 5k easy and do intense workouts afterwards. Now I get on a exercise bike and I'm literally panting and wheezing on the floor after 4minutes of workout. It always feels like my lungs are on fire and my throat is about to burst :C I'm trying to get into working out, but it's so discouraging to know how much worse off I am than before...

I used to be the same, I completely love the gym now though! I wouldn't have gotten into it if I didn't start playing a sport, though. I always find when I'm playing a game of something I get into it and forget about the exercise, if I'm focusing just on that it's always harder! I'm competitive and get into it. Once I started doing ice hockey two or three times a week and got my fitness up I found it way easier to work out at the gym, less boring and more rewarding.

Also, music music music! Definitely makes the time go by. You have to push past the moment where you feel absolutely horrible a few minutes in, then it gets easier!

I was in the same situation a few months ago. I kicked the no-exercising in the but by signing up for a local gym's boot camp and have been going to the gym regularly ever since. I've lost a lot of fat in my thighs/calves, but it still has room for improvement. Just don't give up when it gets hard! That is the hardest obstacle you have to worry about.

@Slime
Having the motivation of another person is great but whenever I try it, it just doesn't work out.
I tried to get my old roommate into the whole exercising together but it only lasted like 2 days. Now, I've tried to get my bf into it as well but he never wants to. So I'm stuck by myself. hahaha.

@marija12
That's exactly what it's like for me. When I was losing weight I was exercising a bit, like cardio and could do it for 45 minutes but now, after 10 I'm dead. SO ANNOYING.
I've also gained 7 lbs back cuz I love me some fast foods and went from 140 - 147. I'm trying to get back down but I figure if I do actual exercises my body will like me better and in return, look better.

@Oblivia
Do you go to the gym with friends? I wouldn't ever want to go myself. I don't like exercising in front of people. I'm one of those usedtobefatsupershyaboutmybody people.
I don't have any friends close by because I moved recently to go with either.

Sometimes I just want to get out and run... 'cept I can't run 'cuz I have a bad knee....

Many would consider me "obese" (and I have gained more than I would like over the past two years... but considering all the crap that's happened to me it's not surprising.) The worst part is that right now I WANT to go to the gym, but despite all sorts of asthma controlling meds I just can't breath well right now. There are 7 wildfires in the state and the smoke from at least one of them just settles into the valley where I live. Worst allergies I've ever had. Ever. I've lost my voice and I'm coughing up phlegm.

I would love to go to the gym more often than I do... but I can't drive :/ I've gotten a lot more in shape over the past 6 months than I have been for a while despite this. Instead of running I use a stationary bike (my PT used this to get me able to put weight on my knee again)

It's hard at first, but just keep going at it and eventually you'll get to where you want to go.

Good exercise music helps too!

Being an ex-fat person myself, exercised freaking sucked. It's taken about a year now to get into pretty good shape. I lost weight like you. So I was skinny, but not toned. I've put on about 20ish pounds of muscle this year while losing any fat I had leftover.

Listen to music while working out. Or think long term. And don't give a crap about what people think. They're sweaty and smelly and working out too.

Sure, running two miles sucks ass and everything burns, but think about how hot you'll be after working out for a while.

do you like to dance? try zumba. i got it for the xbox, so i don't even have to leave the house lol. that and eating right and swimming like a mofo because it's 3045894 degrees out has got me off to a good start. i'm down about 12 lbs (with MANY more to go lol). and i can already tell that my clothes are fitting looser, and one pair of capris i can't really even wear anymore because they just fall down.

but i agree that it's hard. i have a long road ahead of me, and the slow pacing sucks ass, but the payoff is worth it. hopefully next summer i can get into a bikini!

@Harpie
I have an xbox 360 with kinect so I've thought about getting some sort of fitness game. I'm thinking maybe that'dbe my best bet since I don't like doing anything in the heat. I can stay inside where it's nice and cool heh.

I'm so much a diet and lose weight person it's sad.. but dieting isn't going to get me the bod I wantttt!

I really want to get back into working out regularly other than the odd kickboxing session I do once in a while but it seems like every time I think I'm ready to start up again, my left knee tries to jump out of my body again. I dislocated it about 18 months ago and haven't been able to run ever since. I used to run 5 miles a day at least and do weights, now I just half limp around and sit on my ass all day because I can't bend my knee if there's any weight on it (aka bend it in midair, fine. try to go upstairs or squat down to pick something up? lol no). I haven't put on any weight at all though, tg. I'm still 5'5 and 125lbs but I really miss being active

The worst part is that I've been to several specialists and they haven't been able to offer up any more advice than to wear a knee brace. All the MRI showed was fluid pooled in my knee but that shouldn't account for it clicking and shifting out of place every time I try to bend it ugh I am forever broken.

ahahahahaha 8 minutes! Aww! The first circuit is absolutely the hardest, once you get past that you're fine! Just take it easy! I have to do modified push-ups & when I lift I sometimes only do like 3 in a row, then take a break. There's nothing wrong with going at your own pace and taking a short 5 second rest to get back into it. Push yourself, you'd be surprised by what your body can do!

I can't exercise without music or television. I need something to slightly keep my mind off of how much I hate exercising. I like blasting metal as I lift weights to make me feel like a badass.

I had trouble developing an exercise routine that I stuck with. I tried a bunch of different moves until I found ones that were both enjoyable and effective. Once you get that down, it's a lot easier to keep up with. It's also important to eat and sleep well so that you have the energy to actually complete your routine. I tried exercising on an empty stomach, once, and it was bad news bears.

omg, I'm like the opposite. I NEED to exercise or I get really stressed out and antsy. I /have/ to go running every day. I also like biking and swimming, and just yesterday I jumped in a kayak and kayaked for several miles on a whim, haha. I think my serious need for activity keeps me motivated, as well as the thought that maybe a guy will want to date me if I'm skinny. : (

I honestly recommend listening to music while exercising! And not slow stuff. Pick some fast paced stuff you love, and make a special playlist for yourself when you work out. Also, feel free to zone out, and just think about a bunch of random things when you exercise. What you want to do on Subeta, that weird movie you saw last night, etc. If you zone out a bit, it makes time go by, haha. Since it's the summer, try to either go to an air conditioned gym, go swimming, or do exercises in the early morning and evening, so your body doesn't go heatstroke mode on you. A lot of times, too, finding an exercise you love will keep you motivated. Kayaking was really fun, so maybe you'd like it too? Try new things, and soon exercise won't be a chore. Good luck, @Fierce !

Have you ever tried taking any kind of preworkout powder drink? I don't take one regularly but I take my boyfriend's sometimes when I'm SUPER tired/not in the mood to workout and it seriously makes you feel so awake, it's crazy. But if you've had a dramatic weight loss perhaps you could talk to your doctor or do some research before taking one? But preworkout drinks seriously are heavenly. It's liquid motivation, lol ):

But idk, I'm obsessed with working out and when I don't go to the gym I always feel poopy the next day, which is pretty much all the motivation I need. I used to do cardio every day which made me SO TIRED all the time but lately I've toned down on that because I've reached a happy place with my weight and I'm focusing on weight training instead. Lifting is seriously the best thing to ever happen to my body.

I have a personal trainer so he pushes me to extremes and if I don't show up I'm held accountable and I loose $60 . That is how I stay motivated.

In all honesty I love waking up super sore in the morning, I love the pump I get after a really hard work out and the feeling of challenging yourself is just... amazing! I don't understand why most people don't like it and I probably never will but each to their own I guess!

It totally is! I always thought "meh, lifting is for dudes and will make me bulky and manly and gross" but in reality if you mix it with cardio it tones you and changes your body in the best ways ever omg. I never had a butt until I started paying attention to working out my legs and... I'm so happy with the results I've gotten. It makes you feel more "solid" while at the same time looking smaller. Plus being able to open pickle jars by myself is pretty cool now that my arms aren't super wimpy, lol.

Better a toned ass than a non-toned ass tho? If it makes you feel better, lol ): no way, that's awesome! I totally admire girls who lift and want to bulk up- it seems like it takes a crap ton of dedication! That's amazing you entered a competition though, wow c:

For myself I'm just trying to tone up. I'm really petite but I've never really been 'toned' or 'cut' before or w/e you wanna call it, so that's my goal. I took 2 workout courses at my college last semester and they did wonders for my body, now that I'm doing heavier weights on my own I've seen even better results c: you'd be surprised how many girls just stick to cardio 24/7, I think more would do weights if there wasn't such a silly stigma that girls will get bulky overnight :b

I've never been petite, I've never been fat either. I guess you can say I'm built like an Amazon, I'm really tall, I'm fairly fit and I don't have a dainty frame. I've never felt lady like before but after working out I do.

I think more people should commit themselves to working out. It is a much healthier past time then sitting around online all day or playing video games and what not. I'm actually really happy to meet someone else who is pretty passionate about fitness too.

You have the perfect, athletic body type then! I'm petite, I have a really small frame and I'm only 5'3" lol ): I've always been fine with being small but I used to get SO frustrated when I saw really fit, toned, sporty girls- so then I decided if I was so jealous I should work my ass off to become one! I've never played sports competitively so it would bum me out when my friends would have softball/track/basketball/whatever practice after school and I would just feel weak, I guess.

I totally agree! I love videogames, and of course sitting on my butt on Tumblr and Subeta, but I have to workout daily. It just keeps me feeling good and looking alright too haha- plus my boyfriend is obsessed with working out too so it's something we can bond over. It's a good habit to have, that's for sure c:

I guess so haha, I've always been into sports, like soccer, I love wrestling, rugby and lacrosse too but soccer is my favorite. When I was in high school I had a great metabolism but as soon as I turned 20 my metabolism wasn't as good from when I was 17 and I actually started to gain weight. At the time I didn't care but it really hit me when I was at the mall and I saw a mom and her two kids, she was enormous, mowing down on a bucket of KFC and her kids following her example
. I really did not want to become that so I got a job at a gym and I've been working out ever since!

I can't say I'm a huge video game fan, I only play my xbox around for 10 minutes and I haven't touched it since May. I can't even play one subeta for very long in the summer!

And, yeah, I hate it when super skinny doges are like OMG I'M SO FAT around me. I'm like dude, if you think you're fat, wtf do you think of me?! There's nothing wrong with expressing your opinion, though. I mean, other people's weight doesn't affect me good or bad. Tell your boyfriend to shut his cute face.

Nope, I go alone. I used to be like that, too. Just think about it realistically? If you can't do anything at home alone, or can't get a friend to go with you, just take your ipod to the gym and listen to your favorite songs. Avoiding eye contact helped me out I guess you could say. Most of the time people just leave me alone.
