There's got to be a better way to run this policy.

The "only one account per person" policy seems a little too unclear to me.

Although a sibling/parent/whoever lives in the same house as you can make an account just like you, you have to let the staff know first. And I heard that excessive gift exchanging between you can look suspicious. It just seems too high a risk of being accused of owning multiple accounts.

Also, loopholes. Someone could even lie to the staff and pretend to have a sibling who wants to sign up, but in reality they're just making a second account.

What would make this policy run smoother, or is it pretty much just run on honor?

You should be fine if you have multiple people playing from the same IP as long as you don't do something like give 75% of your quest earnings to the other account every day or anything like that. Also, why would any person make two accounts that don't interact with each other? That seems pretty pointless to own multiple accounts without hoping to make illegitimate profits off of them. The reason the multiple account rule is in place is to stop people from getting double the quests and other stuff that would create an unfair advantage in earning sP.

@Rienza

Where did you get this rule?

The only rule regarding accounts is no multiples.

Quote:
Each user is allowed to play on one account and one account only. Do not create multiple accounts for any reason whatsoever, even if your previous account(s) has been self-frozen or frozen by staff. Frozen users may still access the Ticket Center and should use it to request unfreezings. Self-frozen users may unfreeze with the click of a button and do not need to submit tickets. If you have lost any part of your login information, including username, please email us at support@Subeta.net.

There can be more than one account on an IP, but it's best to file a ticket so we know.

@MrCool @Keith @HellHound
I meant that I've heard from other users that other accounts on their IP have been frozen because they gave the other person gifts to get them started. It doesn't seem worth it to me since I've been "disadvantaged" by this already. I probably should have worded it a little differently.

And MrCool, I was thinking more like holding extra pets without paying for more slots or something along those lines.

As the others have said, it isn't so much a rule.

One has to remember that typically you can only have one computer assigned one IP address or you get conflicts on the router. (My father and I had that happen once when a laptop had the same IP as another computer in here, it kept kicking both off the router.)

Basically, if you log in from the same computer with the same or nearly same IP, you should be okay. The staff should technically be able to tell but given how an IP can vary in a household, it's just easier to go and inform the staff in a ticket so they have the exact information.

I was frozen a couple years back (very temporarily) because my sister and I were gifting each other items. I don't remember if it was birthdays or christmas, but anyway. Fortunately, I did convince the staff that we're separate people (we had notes on our profiles, but didn't know that we had to file tickets to the staff... hell I didn't even know what a ticket was back then), and we got our accounts back.

She rarely logs on anymore/doesn't play, and I'm in college and access the site through I swear anywhere XD (especially restaurants... lol I hope that doesn't annoy the UAs)

But I have heard of siblings who seriously got both of their accounts frozen recently (on tumblr and rumors and such) and they obviously weren't able to convince the staff that they didn't own multiple accounts :/
and that really sucks :S

I've also heard of people somehow "successfully" maintaining several accounts (by rumor, I don't know who, but apparently people have filed tickets or asked for help regarding what to do if they knew). I don't know if they passed themselves off as siblings or family or what. I've the vague idea that they were using these accounts to hoard pets/pet slots (?) but I'm not sure how the staff could tell the difference between siblings and multiple accounts that sign on from different IPs or something. :/

personally, I think there should be a note in the rules that says if you share computers or IP addresses, you NEED to file a ticket (link provided) so there's no future mix-ups.
...And then a UA should make it clear to them that there should be very limited trade stuff going on? idk, somebody could decide to essentially quit like my sister and want to give everything to somebody she knows. I told my sister not to give me her stuff since I didn't want to get accidentally frozen again :/

it is in the rules

Quote:
If you access Subeta from multiple computers, share a computer with other Subeta members, or share an internet connection or network access with other Subeta members, do not post "notes to staff" in your profile; these are not checked and, if found by a member of staff, will be cleared. Please notify staff by submitting a support ticket via the Ticket Center, and be sure to include usernames and their relationship with you if possible. In addition to this, you should limit gifting and "one-way" trades between accounts on shared computers, connections, and networks to prevent confusion.

@ Klassikal (idk if you want to be pinged for this :/ )
huh, they've added stuff to that rule since I've last seen it... yay?
anyway, I still see a good amount of people with "notes to staff" on their profiles, so obviously somebody hasn't been clearing them...

edited for typo

I don't mind being pinged but I was watching the board anyway.

from what I understand staff rarely checks profiles, (unless something suspicous is up) so that would explain maybe why they aren't clearing them. I'm pretty sure the rules been around for at least 2 years but i dunno.

Just to confirm what Tracy is saying, I do remember reading that rule a few years ago when I initially joined the site.

@Klassikal

I think I missed it 'cuz Keith said "this isn't a rule" ? thanks for clearing it up for me C:
I wouldn't think that the staff has that much time to wander around user profiles a lot either, but I would imagine that these messages might actually get cleared? idk

@ Jess
um... I wasn't intending to start a fight about me remembering things or not, if that's what it sounded like to you. Because I haven't and I hate drama. I don't think Klassikal was accusing me of being the village idiot, either (though I must say sometimes I do that, haha). We all remember and forget things selectively, and I don't think that's a crime...

I think what Keith was referring to was the OP stating it's ""only one account per IP address" policy which doesn't exist lol. @Chen

If you see a note on a users profile you can always file a ticket. That way a UA can see that it's noted by staff and then have the note removed from the users profile.

@Rienza

We check accounts thoroughly before we freeze for multiples. There are policies in place, I assure you we don't just freeze without good reason.
