I remember seeing a buzz board about this when this game was announced so I was kinda surprised that I didn't see another board when it came out this summer!!

anyway does anyone play it? honestly I think it's one of the best pokemon games made though it's super loveing frustrating for me after you beat the main story-line and choose a special episode lmao. It wouldn't be so bad if warlords didn't attack you while you were off-guard like that really ups the difficulty and always has me on edge especially when nobunaga owns like every single kingdom except the ones you own so he can just double recruit attack you.

What do you guys think? Like/dislike it? Have a favorite character/pokemon combination? I think my fave warlord is Muneshige for being so sassy but I love all of them, their outfits and the art in general are all pretty incredible!!

Whoo! I finally found someone else who's playing this as well! I've clocked in almost 60 hours into this game so far and I'm still not even half-way down with the side-stories. XD; I've always loved war strategy games (even though this is a bit more like FF Tactics or Disgaea), so when I saw there was a pokemon game like this, I had to buy it. I treated myself for my b-day earlier this month and I'm definitely getting more than my money's worth. It's made it into my top three favorite pokemon games and I've only had it for half a month.
My Eevee evolved into a Glaceon because I didn't give it any stones, but that helped me in the end of the main story because of Nobunaga and Rayquaza. (I haven't gotten past a few of the side stories, so no spoilers beyond that please? ^^) What did yours evolve into?
I'm really liking Oichi and Aya. Oichi's cute and Aya's all, "I defeat you to teach you love." -amused- XDD

Now, if only I could figure out a fast way to rank up my warlords and evolve their pokemon... =/

That's awesome! Lol I'm still on my first special episode and I have like 30 hours rn ;n;
I should have read the instructions or some sort of guide or something first because I didn't know that after you beat the storyline it just resets everything. So I spent forever training my pokemon(which turned out to be unnecessary, especially since some of them didn't evolve). I'm working on evolving my pokemon now though since you get to keep them for other special episodes as well, right?

I evolved mine into a Vaporeon and I had another evee that I was training as well(was only a couple stat points away from a Glaceon before the reset!!). I like Oichi and Aya too; though Oichi's pokemon type is not very helpful
I gave her a braviary because I couldn't stand Wigglytuff lol. Same with Yoshimoto, I think he's the most useless warlord probably. Since you've done a few special episodes do you know if you evolve a warlord during a special episode if they keep their evolution during another special episode? Or does that only apply to pokemon?

I'm curious as to whether or not I'll like it. It tends to be very hit-and-miss with Pokemon side games for me; I loved Mystery Dungeon to death but I didn't get into Ranger at all... How does the game dynamic work? Do you pick a character and travel through a story with them? Does each character only have one Pokemon? It is pre-chosen? It looks really confusing. XD

Huh, that's really weird. I thought it was out everywhere by now. Or are you in Australia? I know they sometimes get games later than the rest of the regions. It should already be out in game stores otherwise. And it's a great game; I too treated myself for my birthday with this game. Oh, and happy early birthday. ^^

@Follywood
Hideyoshi's story? I'm doing that one over to grind some of my warlords and evolve pokemon. And yes, you keep evolved pokemon in later special episodes. When you battle the other warlords again (which you do in every side story), they'll look like their pokemon reverted back to their first forms, but once you recruit them, you see you get their with their evolved pokemon. The downside is that their stats go back down to if they were in their first evolved form anyway, you have to train them through the links again (but they keep their form).

I agree that Wigglytuff isn't helpful at all. =/ Oichi's healing song helps a lot though so I keep her around. XD
I've actually been having trouble transforming my warlords so I gave in and decided to see how to do it online earlier. I'm still not quite sure, but I think they have to be with their "perfect link" pokemon and then link with that pokemon up to a certain percentage.

Where I got the info from: http://serebii.net/conquest/bushou.shtml
^^^ Warning though, that link does contain spoilers, like what the warlords look like when transformed and what their perfect link pokemon are.

It's really fun! Honestly I was a bit skeptical about it too because I've never been into war-strategy games. Basically how it works is you're given one kingdom, which has a shop, a place where pokemon/warriors appear, and another shop to raise your pokemon's 'energy'. The goal is to conquer every kingdom by battling and then if you succeed in conquering a kingdom then you get access to that kingdom's shop, place where pokemon/warriors appear, and another shop to raise your pokemon's 'energy'. Sometimes kingdoms will have a 'mine' where you can send warriors to and they'll fetch money for you(probably the only really fast way to earn money in the game since you don't earn money after battles) and sometimes they'll have two places for you to battle pokemon/warriors instead of one.

As far as battle mechanics go, each month counts as a 'turn' where you can send warriors(and their pokemon) to either mine, upgrade places, battle at a place, etc. but once you use them you can't use them again for that month(also it's not actually a month lol; really it's just a 'turn' it's only a unit of measure). Each warrior/warlord starts out with one pokemon and then you can recruit other pokemon for that warrior/warlord by beating them in under 4 turns in battle(there are usually around 10 turns in a battle). The same goes for warriors and warlords, you have to beat them in under 4 turns and then you can recruit them for your army, though warlords have to be defeated by other warlords for them to be recruit-able. Warriors can usually recruit around 3-5 pokemon that you can interchange around whenever you like(though each warrior can only send on pokemon out on the field in battle) and warlords usually can carry much more. Each pokemon only has one move and ability and each warrior and warlord has an ability as well that is usable(as opposed to a pokemon's ability being passive usually). Warriors and warlord's abilities are usually something like "raises attack of warrior's and adjacent allies" or "heals all allies on the field". Instead of levels pokemon go by something called 'link percentage' which is supposed to represent the bond your warrior has with its pokemon. So to evolve your pokemon a lot of the time you have to raise their link percentage to a certain level which you do by battling other pokemon or using them for tasks like mining and whatever else. In the game there's also something called 'the perfect link' which happens when your warrior or warlord recruits the 'perfect' pokemon for them, and when this happens it means you're able to raise their link to 100% which is important because the more you raise their link the more you raise their stats. If you don't have the perfect link then there will be limits on how high you can raise your pokemon, which can suck if the limit is 40% or something and you need at like 65% for the pokemon to evolve. Warlords also have the ability to evolve, but only if they find the perfect link. It's important to find good warriors/warlords as well because they have stats as well and they contribute to how strong your pokemon is.

In the storyline you start out as the 'hero' with an Eevee and you automatically get this other warlord named Oichi who has a Jigglypuff. For these two you start out with their perfect links already which is nice(even the evolutions of both of those pokemon are perfect links as well). Once you complete that story then the game resets(you lose all the warriors and warlords you've collected, and the link percentages you had with each pokemon but if you recruit them again in a special episode then you get them with the pokemon you had with them in the storyline, you also get to keep things like evolution stones) and you get to start a 'special episode' which is basically just the storyline except you get to play it as a different warlord and see pokemon and warlords/warriors you weren't able to encounter during the storyline.

Anyway I hope this helps!! It's pretty long-winded but the game is pretty complex to explain, though you'll catch on fast I'm sure :p

Edit:
also I'd like to say since you've played pokemon dungeon that the battle mechanics are very similar(almost the same) if that helps. You take a turn, they take a turn, etc. Even the attack types are pretty much the same, like ember ranging 2 squares away from the user for example.

@FoxPaw
Oh okay, that's good! I'm like 3/4 done with Hideyoshi's episode. Yeah, you need to have the perfect link to get a warlord to evolve(that's actually the site I've been using! lol)
It takes forever as well because most of the time you need like 65% link to get them to evolve lol. I'm using this episode as a grinder episode as well cuz I know I'm going to hate myself if I start a new episode at square one again.

I'm in the UK.

@Follywood
Oooohhh I see...I apologise for this incredibly short response but I just read all of that and it seems like a really fun game. And ah, that's good about it being a tiny bit similar to MD in terms of battle mechanics. I think I will buy it, thank you for taking the time to explain in detail. I know for sure I'm probably getting a 3DS XL at the end of the month too when they're released in the UK (July 28th) and although this isn't a 3DS game it will be nice to play it on a bigger screen (at least, I hope that's how it works).
