Thank you Sushi! I'll make sure to drop you a comment. First of all. I've been trying to figure out what you can do with your pet or pets. So far I know you can give them jobs, but that is all.

maan I was looking through the adoption place and I found a cool pet and it was like..
WELP SORRY GOTTA BE TWO WEEKS OLD TO DO THAT.
So I just made my frog thing, his name is a Robin Hood reference. uvu

welcome to subeta, you two (:

you can do tons of things with your pets such as make up a character for them and give them a lovely profile. if it's really well-developed, it could be nominated for the pet spotlight you can see on the news page every day. this is something you could consider if you enjoy writing or making art.
you can also battle with them at the coliseum (subeta - games - battle coliseum, weapons can be purchased at the weapons warehouse and defend and conquer at the main shops as well as in user shops).
sometimes there's random events in which your active pet gains a level or its treasure chest grows. the latter can be used to store items in (they can be removed whenever you want), like a little gallery just for your pet visible on their profile.
if you save up quite a bit or are lucky enough to get one in a random event, you can use a potion on them to change their appearance. to see all available pet colours and species, go here. as for the 'zapper V2' it mentions, those are possible outcomes of having your pet zapped (wiz tokens are charged, you can earn those by doing wiz quests) at the pet zapper v2 (explore - atebus - ziara).
