So this forum seems a bit dead.. and I'm currently in the process of finishing up my own portfolio website, and figured this would be an awesome thread to start

So yeah, post your coolest JS libraries/plugins/whatever!
I'll start off: jQuery

...loljk. That's cheating. For real though, check this one out:

@Java Yay! Thanks for making this thread. I wish this forum was more popular. That sliding thing is so cool! -bookmark-

One of my new favourites: Isotope for an animated/filtered grid layout. Designers love grids so I'm using it a lot.

I also love jScrollPane for custom CSS scrollbars.

@Sammii I'm hoping to turn this into a huge resource of awesome JS finds. They're so useful, and key, these days. Plus, now I don't have to try and remember my good finds. I'll just list them here, lol.

I've actually seen Isotope before! I actually saw a website just recently that had a really neat/unique/uneven grid layout (designer's site), and spent like 30 minutes digging for it with no luck.

jScrollPane is new to me though - and definitely awesome. Bookmarked!

Here's one that I use a lot: jQuery Selectbox Plugin.
It's for those ugly dropdown selectboxes that are a pain to style. This turns them into CSS-ers best friends.

@Java Good idea; I never remember to use these once they're in my bookmarks, lol. Are you a web developer as well?

Isotope is awesome, I think that and the sister one Masonry are used a lot on Tumblr and such. Masonry just aligns to columns rather than a grid.

Being able to style any UI element is awesome! Good find. I knew I'd seen something similar before and I was able to dig up jqTransform which lets you skin basic form elements.

Oh and another one: EqualHeights - Quick and easy way to make columns the same height. Much better than hacking the CSS when there's no easier way. Been using it a lot since I found it because everything just looks a lot cleaner when it all aligns properly.

Wow.. EqualHeights is wonderful :T I can't even. I can't. Hmmm.. wonder what I can comeback with.

I'd probably have to go with Vegas (change your window size on the demo site!) and Fancybox (which I use nearly daily).

@Sammii Yes! I dev for a company called Norex.ca. Web is my favourite, although iOS is tempting. We'll see after I spend a week making another app, aha. I'll probably hate it again.

@Java I knowww EqualHeights is a god-send lol. So good for multiple columns and stuff.

Oh cool! I only ever attempted an app once, in college, and it was just an HTML one anyways. I'd rather stick to the front-end stuff. XD

Don't know if anybody uses this anymore but we need some more people over here! --> #WEBPRO If not we should make a new ping group for developers...

@Sammii I tried joining and it's a "you must be approved by the owner" deal.. who apparently isn't around anymore.

I wouldn't mind a ping group.

Ok, this one isn't actually a library! -- but, I found this tool the other day and fell in love. It's called jsFiddle. It lets you import the library you need for fast development, css/html/js in one spot.

@Fletch
Oh my goodness, yes ^^ That site is pretty great. I find I use it most for debugging simple things, though. Like if I wanted to focus on just a few elements of a huge piece that I was having trouble with, I find porting it over to there little test space is awesome :3

Some of my favorite sliders: bxSlider & Foundation`s Orbit

For displaying images: FancyBox also displays pages/iframes gracefully! We use this for our newsletters

I also use Foundation for button styling - making for beautiful buttons!

Edit:

If you're looking for a group ping, you can use/admin/take over #web if you want (this is also a great resource for any of you!) since I probably haven't pinged it in a too long of a time!

@Virtual Ugh seriously, you don't even know how many crappy Lightboxes I tried for this one project and I ended up going back to Fancybox. I always seem to use it because everything else sucks! And at least with all of the functions available, I can usually hack it for those last couple features it doesn't have out of the box. Have you seen the new one? http://fancyapps.com/fancybox/

I always thought the 'web' forum group was more for web DESIGN than development. Not so?

My favourite slider is Flexslider. The responsiveness always works perfectly out of the box, and it just works really well most of the time without giving me a headache.

lol idk I personally fail pretty hard at design so we'll just say it's more programming oriented. I think the 3 times I've pinged it it was more programming stuff ;P @Sammii

I haven't researched fancybox for a few months, so I probably haven't seen the updated fancybox, but thanks for the head's up! Flexslider looks really nice too ^^ simple design

Late bump, yay!

I actually just recently stumbled upon Foundation. Seems nice :3
BXSlider is awesome, totally bookmarking.

As for Fancybox... eugh. I use it a lot (unfortunately). A nice, light alternative is: http://www.zurb.com/playground/reveal-modal-plugin
