My little brother came back with a little crab in a large bowl and he/she was so cute I asked if I could have him as a pet vs. him using it as bait.

I was wondering if any of you guys know how to care for crabs ... google showed me all these things on hermit crabs :c

Edit:

Found out she is a female fiddler crab so that helped me research. ... so hints and tips would be nice now XP

I had a marine hermit crab, so i'm sure they are nearly the same. I made sure to give him fresh water on a sponge. Half the tank was salt water, other half was sand and rocks. He was easy to take care of

i had tons of hermit crabs for awhile, i guess the websites all might tell you the same things but:
- make sure they have an extra shell or two that are a bit larger in case they grow
- something to climb on (mine never used them though, lazy loves)
- wet sponge all the time, and food available of course

other than that, they're pretty easy. just watch for mites in their sand, and if you find some you i think you just have to change their sand and boil everything that was in there, and spray the crabs with something but i forget. crabs are like the easiest pets to have besides fish

I gave my brother crabs (okay that sounds weird) for Christmas one year. They were probably the easiest pet ever. He did say he had some issues with the new shells though, like they didn't like the new ones he provided so he kept on putting different ones in there.

This brings back memories haha
One time me and my sister bought hermit crabs from a store when we were visiting my grandma's house, and when we got back to her house, she called my uncle.
She said "The girls have crabs" Hahaha my uncle was silent at first until my grandma had to explain herself xD

Crabs are easy to take care of. The links that were provided above basically explain everything you need to know. Congrats on your little friend! Did he name it?
