I can't remember the last time I woke up with clear vision. According to my contacts case, my left eye is -5.50 and my right eye is -6.00. I blame it all on reading books in the backseat of the car when I was little. And then computers.

If any of you have perfect vision I am instantly jealous. Let's trade eyes please.

Before I got my glasses I walked into a parked van, twice.

I've had glasses since I was three years old. Without my glasses, everything's fuzzy and I have no depth perception. On top of that, I was told on a couple occasions that had I not gotten my glasses, I'd very nearly be legally blind in my left eye.

(Btw, it's "eyesight," not "eyesite.")

@skyrocket

People try on my glasses and then rip them off, saying, "Whoa! You're BLIND!". I have had glasses since I was 4 years old. I can see only blurry outlines without them. Like if I took them off now, the print on this page looks grey and fuzzy.

I'm blind as a bat without my contacts in, but with them, I've got perfect vision. As long as it stays that way, and I have nothing wrong with my eyes, I'm happy.

Wow was it something you were born with, or a result of something else?

@LonexWolf12
Same here. People are like "your vision can't be THAT bad...." And then they try my glasses.

I was born with it. My parents laugh because I was so little when I got my glasses and I never bothered them, never broke them or scraped them up so they figured something must have been doing what it was supposed to.

my dad has some sort of new type of degeneration (i always forget which part of the eye, but it's not macular)
i don't know if i have it yet, as it is genetic...but when he was diagnosed a few years ago and they sent his blood off to be studied, they said they could probably have a cure within several years (for early cases, not him)

Apparently I'm near-sighted in one eye, and far-sighted in the other.
I think I'm legally blind, or almost, in my right (near-sighted) eye.
I need glasses.

I've had glasses since I was three. My vision is so terrible.
I have a an astigmatism though, which is genetic from my dad's side. With my contacts in, however, I have 20/20 vision.

The optometrist tells me I could probably get laser eye surgery to correct my vision, but that just sounds scary. :c

my vision/prescription has gone from -2.00 to -3.25 in about 8 years...so could be better, could be worse. it's hard to tell if it's a result of the potential disease or just normal worsening eyesight, hah.

Beats me, but bad eyesight runs in the family.
My dad and brother wear glasses/contacts full-time, and mom and sister when reading.

Be born?
haha Idk everyone else wears glasses in my family so i'm like the total red-headed step child in that fashion lol. If it makes you feel any better, I do have a slight astigmatism in my right eye which causes it to be blurry here and there, but it's still 20/20. I practically begged for glasses at my last exam to fix the tiny bit of blur, and the doctor was like lolno. :c

The strange thing is, my parents both have perfect vision, as do most people in my family.
So when it came to me it was a really weird development.

@Harpie
Wow, we are pretty much exact opposites! Lol @ the glasses part. Cannot imagine that happening to me, ever.

Weird, guess you're the not-so-lucky duckling.
My brother walked into a pole when he was ~5ish while we were out shopping, and that's when we knew he needed glasses.
My parents were expecting two, if not all three of us to need glasses anyway.

Also, with my sister's glasses she is 20/20 in one eye, so she only needed a prescription on one side, so the other is just glass with no prescription.

My vision is fine, as far as I know. I've not had it formally tested since I was a child, but I've not had reason to... I can read crap normally when it comes to 'can you read that tiny writing over there' games lol. Slightly worried I will develop near-sightedness though, based on the amount of computer/reading/etc. time and lack of sunlight/outdoors time. Surprised I haven't already.

My vision isn't perfect, but I don't need glasses. Everyone else in my nuclear family wears glasses though. I figure I'm good since I passed the eye test to get a driver's license. It only gets a little fuzzy right when I wake up, and after being in bright light. My eyes hate bright light.

No stop to my spreading,
Unarmed die around me,

I never had glasses until I was about 8 or 9, once I had started picking up reading more. My father and I often went to the library during my weekly visitations with him, and he noticed me squinting hard when reading the description of a book I was interested in. One vision consultation later and bam, sent on my way with glasses to aid my sight. Turns out I have the oh-so common astigmatism. xD

I can see fine without glasses on, just not at a comfortable... setting? I suppose. My sense of perception is a bit skewed without them on, which was terrible during rainy soccer games. Try being a goalkeeper with wet lenses, it sucks! ;p

My contact perscription is 3.75 for my right eye, 2.50 for my left. Without visual aids, I can only clearly see maybe a foot or so in front of me. Everything else looks like a blob.

I have awful eyesight. Not sure of the exacts, but I really can't see much without them.
It's probably my mother's fault I believe she's legally blind, or just about there. She has really thick lenses for her glasses haha. But she always wears contacts.

iirc my right eye is -4.50 and my left -4.00. It's so depressing because I can't see anything without glasses, and it's difficult to wear contacts with my astigmatism I prefer glasses anyways, but when I run/box I either have to go blind or be super careful ugh

GLOOMY

I have -0,5 & -0.75 and on my right eye (the one with 0,75, astigmatism).
I got new glasses 2 weeks ago, before that i had 2 years 0,25 on each side just because I got a head ache but my vision was perfect.
Now I can't go without my glasses for 5 minutes without getting a insane head ache.

I've always had perfect vision, but I've started to notice little weird things happening with my eyes. I realised that I actually find blues that are similar (not insanely similar, but not really obviously different) really hard to tell apart, whereas other colours I can easily distinguish. I also noticed about a week or two ago, that one eye sees less colour than the other.

Hopefully things like this wont get much more serious :s

I've had my eyes checked multiple times and have been told they work perfectly multiple times, but when I can't read the same road sign as my boyfriend when we are the same distance away really makes me feel like I'm blind or something XD I wore 'reading' glasses for a bit, but then they got blurry on me :/ and can't justify spending the money again on glasses that would help me see a fraction of a percent better!

I've needed glasses since I was six, but I refused to admit it. I spent five years squinting at chalkboards and whiteboards or writing down the entirely wrong thing in school until I miserably told my mum I need glasses.

Then I proceeded to hide my face behind books for about a month.

Now it feels weird when I take them off. orz I can only see about 20cm in front of me, otherwise everything's a blur. :c

my eyes are really weird because one is nearsighted and one is farsighted. i lost my glasses (no idea where they are) i don't really have trouble reading things but it causes some really bad headaches because i have to refocus my sight every now and then because it gets SUPER blurry

@Torchic

oh yay, i'm not the only one! does it also give you headaches? :c

When I started my driving lessons, I did not know I needed glasses.
After a couple of months, I could do everything I needed to in order to pass my driving test, except for one thing; I couldn't see it when someone would try to cross.
I just didn't notice it. My driving instructor told me it was because I didn't pay enough attention. So I had to continue my lessons.
This went one for A YEAR. I still didn't realize I needed glasses, and neither did my driving instructor. So in the end, I wasted one year of driving lessons. (about 40 lessons, I guess?)
I was NOT amused and neither were my parents, as we split the costs 50/50. And I still don't have my drivers license, because I quit after my driving instructor got seriously ill and had to be admitted into the hospital, and my lessons were postponed.

And then I discovered I needed glasses :')
My left eye is -1.25 and my right one is -0.25, and I have some sort of cylindrical deviation. Not too bad, I only need to put on my glasses when I have to read something from a blackboard in class, or when I feel a headache coming up, which is mostly at night
