My dog is close to giving birth to her puppies

 She kind of had a fake pregnancy today. I got really scared and started running around the house screaming for everyone to come out and help me like a crazy lady! Turns out it was just her being herself. But she should be due in the next week or two and i'm so excited because i've never seen a dog give birth! I don't know what i'll do xD She's a pitbull, and I know how people feel about them but there is a rescue that is trying to adopt pitbulls to disabled people to be their guide and stuff, and I want to help out with that. They are strong dogs that can help pull them out of beds and be their best pal and what not so i'm excited to help at least one person out with her puppies. So at least i'm doing the right thing! No fighting or breeding >  that kind of stuff angers me.I just had to say something because i'm so excited and I really thought she was having her puppies Momma:  Daddy (eating pudding xD):  EDIT: She finally had them! 8 fat healthy beautiful puppies  Which should turn out a brindle color, I woke up to little noises and she was on the leather couch feeding her first 4 ._.  She kind of had a fake pregnancy today. Do you mean a false labor? xD Pitbulls are one of the top breeds that get killed in shelters, due to their bad reputation and no one wanting them. Some shelters only give them 1 day to be adopted before killing them. Are you thinking about getting your pitbull spayed after she gives birth? It's probably going to be difficult enough finding homes for this litter. I really hope that pitbull adoption place works out for you! Best of luck when your dog really does go into labor! I hope all the puppies are healthy!

@Magic Yes thats what i meant xD Well, honestly this whole pregnancy thing was an accident. But I know a lot of great people that i've met who are willing to give the pups a loving home, so i'm not too worried about them ending up in a shelter. I know, its the saddest thing to me because they really are the best dogs in the world. She's 100% getting spayed after this. I'm keeping myself a pup as well, since i know i'll fall in love. I think if you try hard enough to put them in well deserved homes, then you won't see a problem, the only problem is so many people breed pits because of how valuable they are, but only to fighters and breeders. And no way in hell are my dogs going to end up dead. Plus a lot of people where i live have the same views i do  @Flamingo Oh I'm so excited, they are gonna be some cute fat big headed puppies xD That would be so cute! Kittens are so cute when their heads and ears are big and the rest of them is a tiny fluff ball

@Luci Thank you! Absolutely. Its just how the person trains the animal, just like every other animal. I don't know, I just don't like people's outlooks :/ But thank you! I sure will find good homes

 @Stoney Aww, puppies! I hope the birth goes well. My aunt has the prettiest pit bull, she's such a nice dog too. It really sucks that crappy people give the breed a bad name |

@Stoney I'm not sure, her name is Tiger though because she has a sort of stripey pattern on her fur. She's really gorgeous <3 She looks like this except without the white areas, and she's fully grown. |

@Rorschach She's a brindle Probably a blue nose, my favorite kind of pits. That dog is so cute xD Hopefully they'll end up looking like that because the dad is a blue nose and sort of has brindle, but mostly dark brown and white, and the mom is a gator/gotti that's like a tan color with white and so they'll be suuuuper cute.

@Stoney Ah, I didn't know there was a word for the pattern  That's cool to know.Sounds like those puppies are going to be adorable! I miss my puppy. Technically not a puppy anymore, but she'll always be puppy to me I moved away from home a few months ago and couldn't bring her At least I get to see her when I go back though  Although that's pretty much never haha |

@Rorscharch Well you learn something new everyday xD I think they will, I edited my very first post, it shows the mom and dad so it gives you an idea on how they might look I know how you feel, I used to have an all white puppy with a brindle eyepatch and tramp stamp xD My landlord made us find a new home for her and the dad on here. It was really unfair. But your baby will always be your baby no matter what. Right! At least you can see her whenever you want, and even if you can't see her, at least you know she's there.

Congrats! But the only thing you can/should really do for her is just make sure she's in a safe, stable, quiet environment, and that she has a small bed for her and her puppies to be in. Now, on some occasions, there may be a small issue that will occur. Because of this, you must at least be there when she first goes into labor and until they have their last pup, and you must at least have a towel with you. I'll explain why later, but first I have to tell you that sometimes a first time mother will freak out when she starts giving birth. She isn't going to immediately know what's going on, all she really knows at that point is that something is coming out of her and that she's in pain. If you do notice her starting to whimper or show other signs of stress, just pet her and talk to her to keep her calm. On rare occasions, a first time mother will freak out to the extremes. This means that she will be trotting around in the room while in labor, whimpering and crying. If she does this, put her in a kennel and carefully watch her. If you don't, she may hurt her pups, because even if she has a pup half way hanging out of her, she will still trot around the room in a panic. Since she's trotting around the room, it puts the pup at risk for falling and hurting it's head. If your dog does this, and you put her in a kennel, you HAVE to watch her carefully. She may try to panic even in the kennel, and if she panics in her kennel then she may step on one of her pups or may not try to break the pup's sack or simulate it to breathe. Now, the reason why you need to have a towel is because sometimes a first time mother won't know that she needs to break the pup's sack and lick it to make it breath. It doesn't necessarily mean she rejects the pup, it just means she doesn't know what to do. If this happens, and you see that she hasn't broken the sack within a few seconds of the pup's birth, then you have to pick up the pup with the towel, break the sack yourself, and gently rub the pup all over to simulate breathing. You have to be ready the very second you realize that she isn't going to be able to break the sack, you may not have time to run and get a towel. Usually you won't have to do that with all the pups if she doesn't know what to do the first time, usually her instincts on what she needs to do will kick in after the first pup. Sometimes, she'll be able to break the sack herself, but the pup won't react to it's mother simulating it to start to breathe. If that happens, you just take the pup away and use the towel to rub him all over to simulate him to breathe. But, you never know, so you have to be prepared just in case. Just some friendly advice. You never know what can happen when a dog goes into labor. That's only the basics of what can happen, but since you aren't experienced in birthing a dog, you should contact a vet if you feel that something is wrong. My mom and I use to breed Pekingese for a living, so we learned those things I told you about through experience. Yay puppies! One of my friend's mom's pit had what was it 11 or 13 pups? But they had one who was colored neat. body was solid but the legs were brindle with white paws. Sadly there's many dogs who get bad reps or are seen as "undesirable" I myself am not a fan of pits but that's cuz I don't like their looks and one of my dad's friend's kids had a bad run in with one that left her scarred for life and needing face surgeries I myself would LOVE a corgi! Actually a pair to breed since they are rare in this area. But I'd do it smartly giving the mom time in-between to allow her body to rest. And then "retire" her from having pups after like 6 liters max most likely less since it does stress their bodies out. I seriously hate the people who use puppies as their main means of income. I saw one lady literally having her dogs have pups asap and sell em for $600 each (or try to anyways) and when she got busted for having too many dogs she cried they were her only source of income... o.O dafauq lady!? and of course the fighting rings! I feel those people need shot! I watch too much animal cops  But another breed that gets a bad rep is dobies. They are very loyal dogs. It's just after a specific age their brain can swell causing personality snaps and so people pegged em as "mean breed". Some people I know say st bernards are bad dogs too... EVERY one I've met has been nothing but a big ol dumb teddy bear! When they get older they can get nippy due to hearing and vision loss, but then so do most other dogs. I get why apartments can ban some dogs due to size and such, but some of the stuff i've seen about outlawing specific breeds in cities altogether? I don't agree with it.

@Silverwolf Thank you so much for all the advice! Thankfully you said something. My fiance has helped out with litters before, not with this dog but his old beagle, and he knows what to do, but never really explained to me in detail. Basically he was like, don't worry, i got this, stand back and take pictures xD But I will for sure be taking plenty of pictures! I'll be sure to ping you @Rydia holy crap. I'm guessing it won't be that many puppies since its her first litter xD I'm guessing 7-9 puppies is what she'll have. how unique! I wish i could see that. I love how their colors turn out just by the parents, its so interesting to me Well, that's understandable. I almost had my hand bitten off by one, but its the way you train them, they are the most loyal dogs out there, and before all this stuff happened with fighting and such, in the 50's they were most desirable and they were all over american commercials and stuff. Yeah, some people don't like how they look cause of their meaty bodies and big heads, besides huskies and american eskimos, they are by far my favorite breed just because of how they look. Corgis are so cute! I'll never have one because my fiance hates how they look like sausage rolls but they are just so damn cute x_x Right, unless your a professional breeder, making it so that you have the best and healthiest dog possible. Its easy money, but in the end its under the table and crooked, its too easy. That's why i'm helping the rescue out, i might sell a puppy or two to some friends but because they love the breed as much as i do. And i'll be keeping one, i would keep them all if i had a farm x) yeah exactly! That's messed up. They do need to be shot. Well really, they need to be electricuted because that's what they do after they breed the winners or the losers lose. its loveed up and that's still murder in my eyes to a completely innocent animal that KILLS for your pleasure. wtf is wrong with that? yes, dobermans, even boxers, out here at least. Oh, i had no idea about that! That's interesting. St bernards??? really? the medicine dogs? they are the nicest ones in my opinion. They just sit there and look cute That's what they do out here. They don't except for the most part pits, dobermans, another kind i don't remember, even huskies. But they allow chihuahuas, the mean little ankle biters ._.

@Stoney awww that is adorable! My cousin's pitbull recently gave birth and she couldn't be happier. Luckily she lives a few hours away from city center and has a HUGE plot of land so she's keeping all the pups. I firmly believe that it isn't in any dog's nature to be violent. If you don't train it properly, of course it'll misbehave!

@Wik How cute! Right, i wish I lived in that kind of area. I'm smack dab in the middle of the city. Exactly! But that's with kids too. If you don't teach your kid to do the right thing, then it will do the wrong thing. Its just like that for everyone but for some reason they blame pits. They just don't understand that loyalty is everything to a pitbull. My pregnant girl, she was trained by her old master to be mean, but it isn't in her blood. She wouldn't hurt a fly. Well, she'll eat flies, but she won't cause them too much pain xD Otherwise, she'll bark at you and then run up and lick you. it confuses people. xD

It's a mixed blessing haha. Because she lives so far out it's really rare that we actually get together :c I might not even see her puppies until they're all grown up! Plus it's super isolated from everything else. Awww I'm so happy that she's better now! Some people just shouldn't own pets, I swear to god. I'm glad you're taking such good care of her (: (Also this is off topic, but is the person who drew your sig pic named Rauine?)

@Wik Aw At least she can keep you up to date and take pictures for you Yeah, he was really abusive to her, when I first got her she flinched over anything, the sound of something falling or when i brushed my hair, or picked something up, the saddest thing me and my fiance just realized is when he picked up his bb gun, she ran up on the bed behind me with her tail between her legs and ears down. She was shaking uncontrollably which makes me wonder what he's really done to her. I felt so bad. she's better now. She's an excessive licker and uncontrollably wags her tail because she's so happy but we would never hit her. that kind of stuff makes me so loveing angry. what's the point in having a dog if your going to abuse it? thank you ^.^ That means alot.Nope, I believe her name is butterbeer, she just made it for me earlier she was in the freebies section but she just made a forum where she's selling her art. Aha true true :p Oh my gosh that's horrible!! That poor dog ): Have you thought about maybe pressing charges against the previous owner? Where I live any sort of animal abuse means serious fines and possible jail time. Happy to hear she's doing better, but that makes me so angry! She's lucky to have you two Ahh gotcha. @Wik I want to, I hate him, but the thing is, that's my fiance's friend, and even though he's pissed at him too that's still his friend so its like a sticky situation. This guy shouldn't own dogs, technically he's not allowed to ever own a pitbull again. Because when he had her, he had a beautiful pit name bob and he did something to bob, and bob nipped him just because the guy deserved it, so he picked the dog up, threw it on the ground and broke its leg. Well the wife called animal control and picked up bob, but because he nipped this guy the poor dog had to be put down even though he was sweet, he just stood up for himself. And the guy is never allowed to own another pit for the rest of his life, in this state, because of animal abuse, but wouldn't it make more sense to have him own no dog at all? i don't know. No problem

 D'awe! I'm betting they'll turn out absolutely freakin' adorable. c:Best of luck when the times comes! My dog is mostly pit and part short-haired vizsla and I love her to bits and pieces. I wouldn't take my stretched out pitty for anything! She has a similar tone of color as your soon-to-be momma there, but she's close to being an incredibly bright orange. Gah, I just love me some pits. Those stereotypes - and how shelters treat them - just drives me up a wall. Your idea of what to do with the puppies is really endearing though. I'm sure she's cute then, I love that burnt color. It makes me angry too, i really want to work at a no kill shelter, I think even for one person to try and help pits would make a huge difference.  Haha, I can imagine how you reacted when you thought she was about to give birth; I had a reaction like that when my cat really was giving birth in the middle of my bedroom floor xDI hate when people judge a dog by its breed. Any dog can be trained to be a vicious killer in the wrong hands. They could also be the sweetest dog in the world if it has a loving family who actually cares about it. I hope everything goes well for you and the mother c:

@Captain xD I think I'd have a heartattack going into a room like that. Yeah, she was running around and stuff and some discharge came out but not the color that shows your about to have puppies. right! Exactly what I'm saying. Like, my pitbull, she's too sweet, she just wants to be loved and spoiled, you give her a kong and she wags her tail excessivley (i'm not sure why i can't ever spell that word correctly) and when someone knocks she'll run up to the door and bite which scares them until she starts licking them everywhere x) But you can train a chihuahua to be a killer. Or any dog, my friend has a golden retriever, when he says a word in german the dog will straight attack anything. He jumped out of a window and broke it when he heard someone try to break into a house, and that's saying a lot for the nicest dog in the world supposively.

@Milhouse lol what do you mean dinner? @Silverwolf She's in the process of panting 24/7, she's shivering and she's nesting, so i'm thinking she'll have these puppies in the next 24 hours, if even. I'm not a dog person by any means, but my mom got a pitbull before she left the state, so we had a pitbull for a while. She was pretty cute lol, pitbulls do get a bad rep, and she was a really sweet, loyal, protective dog. @wertgirlfor why don't you like dogs? Oh man, is she beautiful. @Silverwolf I'm thinking, hopefully its not over night cause god i'm tired lol. I'm thinking in the next few hours though, I am probably wrong, but she's been shaking uncontrollably for the last 5 hours, and panting really bad. @Rainheart I'm not sure what you mean, she was pregnant by accident, but were taking the pups to the vet tomorrow to make sure all of them are healthy, my vet knows she was prego if thats what you mean x3

Thanks! I want them all  I'm keeping one of them, it was the runt, but now she's bigger then half of her brothers and sisters. I named her Diamond, partially because she has a white diamond on her face and white on her nose, and she's also my Diamond in the rough c:
