Luminaire: all the information you need to have a good holiday
As you learned earlier today, you can visit Melody's Cottage each day throughout December for a treat or two. There are two achievements tied to this. For Lumineve Regular 2023, you must visit Melody 20 days in the first 25 days of December because the achievement will retire at the end of December 25. For Melody Regular 2023, you must visit Melody for a total of 25 days during Luminaire. The days do not need to be consecutive for either achievement.
Ornaments: You can donate sP to Melody after visiting her cottage to receive an Old Box of Ornaments. Opening the box will give you a random selection of ornaments. More may be added later in the holiday. You can mass add ornaments from your inventory to your ornament inventory here.
Other tree-related information: You can adjust your tree gift settings here to be 'everyone' 'friends only' or 'no one'. Tree's will 'open' on December 25, which is when you'll be able to access your gifts! Below is the sCode for adding your tree to your status, on the forums, and more.

Gift Lists: Did you know there is a gift list feature? You can make multiple lists, write notes, have a quick wishlist link, and more. This will help you keep track of who you've done gift shopping for and who you have left!
Snow Fairies: Keep an eye out for the snow fairy minions, which you can give via random event. There’s an achievement, 'Fairy Catcher!', when you find one. You can release snow fairies from your inventory for the 'Free all the Fairies' achievement. There is also an achievement, 'Fairy Collector' for having one of each color snow fairy in your inventory.
Snowballs: The snowtapult will open once Winter starts on Subeta on December 21. More information about throwing snowballs will happen then!
Luminaire Forums: You spread joy on the Luminaire Forums throughout Luminaire. The forums will be open until January 5 to finish up any last-minute business.
End of Luminaire: Luminaire ends at 11:59pm on December 31. :(
Free Shop: The Free Shop will not be open during Luminaire.

I remember starting that huge snowball fight out on all the dance floors during the Masquerade Murder. It was epic. I love the snowball event. Can we throw snowballs at each other at this years masquerade? (the snowtapault is my favorite thingie.)

Many players help out plenty by buying CSC and gold account subscriptions. If the site needs help with coding, they should hire another coder. If they can’t do that due to monetary restrictions, the player base can help out directly by referring friends, spending money on the site, etc. Otherwise it’s not really in the hands of the players. There is nothing wrong with expressing reasonable disappointment. The site needs feedback like this from their audience to grow and improve.

Yeah I agree that subeta is less fun than it used to be, they've removed a lot of features and fun things in the past decade, but I honestly think the subeta team is barely hanging on financially at this point, and it makes me worry for the future of the site

@cherub I know I've been on here less and less. It's just not as fun as it used to be. When they nixed getting Subeautique items as prizes from quests, that killed the fun of doing quests for me. Then 3 years of no MM and that was literally my favorite thing about Luminaire as I'm not huge into Forum based "events". Especially since in the Gift the Tree Above you threads, I've gotten skipped. When the presents are released on Christmas, I do check to see if I actually got a gift from the person who posted below me, and many times I've been skipped. So that takes the fun out of it as people just use the threads to get free gifts.
As far as the trees, once you get the Christmas tree decorated, there really isn't anything else to do with that. Especially after getting friends gifted. I find the fairies to be annoying, so I don't collect those and I'm not a huge fan of the snowtapult/snowballs. I actually tend to forget about it. Also, no Free Shop and no Forum boxes. So.....yeah I'll collect my Melody gift, maybe spend some time in the forums putting gifts under people's trees and call it good.

@Sprinter137 I know it can open any time of the year, but as others have mentioned, I tend to stalk the site around for the free shop since it has happened several times around this time in the past. staff has also used the free shop as a way to surprise the player base when special site functions (like mysterious melody) aren’t working properly. so to see MM not working for a THIRD year in a row, with absolutely no explanation as to what is actually wrong with it, and not having the free shop or something else to look forward to, is a little bit of a bummer. My only point was that players who tend to be more active around the holidays (such as myself) are coming back with less and less things to look forward to.
And this is not something that personally bothers me at all because I never get a chance to visit every day anyway, but even melodys cottage has less gifts this year.
It’s LUMI and the site is struggling to hit 500 people online which is very shocking to me. This is my favorite time of year on the site and it just makes me sad to see the festivities, and the player count, seem to be slowly dwindling.

I’m really not one to complain ever, but no mysterious melody for 3 years now, and now no free shop? Something is telling me this is a big part of the reason why the online user count during holidays is so low the last few years. People are quite literally having less and less reasons to come back to the site.

MM was the main part of Luminaire that I like, so it's extremely frustrating and disheartening to see that after 3 years, it's STILL not in place.
I guess it'll be hitting up people's Luminaire trees and that'll be it for me as far as doing anything during this season. Will there be Forum Boxes at some point? You've had them in the past during Luminaire that when you post in the forum you have a chance of getting one. I mean at least it would make it feel a bit more festive since we don't have MM as well as no Free Shop.

Hey @ToddyToddyz if you click on the link to your ornament inventory from the post, you'll see the Tree Backdrops button at the top. It's the second one. Backdrops cost 500000sp.

O.k., chose a tree - last year's presents gone. Decorated an invisible tree & saved (a dozen times). Tree on profile empty... same game every year, sigh

It should change and be empty once the tree for this year is saved, Mine was this way too but now that I chose a tree and saved it the presents from last year went away and my tree shows as empty underneath like it should. Happened like that last year too

Sometimes I find that the trees take a bit to load and work for me as well. Have you tried hard refreshing the page with Ctrl + f5? That will often fix things for me!

@Valiska Thank you!! I think something must be wrong with my computer. I was just telling @Amber that the ornaments are there but invisible. I can see my cursor changes into the crosshatch for moving objects but I don't actually see anything. Hoping it'll fix itself tomorrow. Thanks again and wishing you a Happy Lumi :)))

@Amber Ah, okay so I think what's happening is that the ornaments are in that top left corner where my tree is, but they're invisible? I know they're there because when I move my mouse over that area, it will turn into the crosshatch arrow cursor that you use for moving objects but I don't actually see anything. Hmm. Maybe it'll fix itself tomorrow after I re-log in or something. Thanks for your help! :) Happy Lumi to everyone!

@BoaConstrictor Looking at last year's comments, it seems it is a cache thing! Trees and presents were showing as the year before on profiles but when you individually went to give a gift, it showed the current year tree correctly. Still going to bug Keith about clearing the cache!

@eukelele After you click on the ornament and the name appears in the list, the ornament itself will appear in the upper left corner of the tree space. If you've chosen a background that's dark in that area, like "night" or "candlelight" you may be having trouble seeing ornaments that are dark, but they're there. From there you move the ornament onto the tree.

@eukelele This is the right place to ask (or on the forums). Are you trying to drag the ornament from the list area? Once you 'add' them to the tree, they should show up on that list but ALSO in the left corner of the area where your tree is. That's where you drag it to the tree and position as you like.

Hi everyone, is it okay to ask for help with my Luminare tree here? Sorry in advance if this is the wrong place. I've cleared my cache several times like the instructions say to, but it doesn't seem to be working.
How exactly do I move the ornaments onto the tree? Once they're in my ornament inventory and I click on them, they go into this list above the ornament inventory with up/down arrows to change the order except I'm not sure what it's doing because I don't see anything on the tree. Tried dragging ornaments as well and it doesn't work. Did I miss anything?
