Battle of the Bands!
Good day, patrons of \'Peka-Boo\'. How awfully whimsical a festival name. Have you all managed to stop fighting over tickets yet? Don\'t fret, there\'s still plenty of time left before the festival begins and there are dozens more things to fight over. (Ha! Fret. Frets are a part of stringed instruments, and I am an expert violinist. Good show, me.)
Anyway, what I\'m here to tell you about today is the Battle of the Bands. I\'ve been put in charge of it, although I personally wanted to use the festival as a platform to promote my own classical band, Goodbye Virelai, but Rosemary was insistent it should be all new music, so here we are. What SHE is looking for is for our ticket-holders to pick a music genre and form a band together (or vice versa). You need to give us a good idea of what your band is all about, come up with as great a band name as you can manage (obviously my own is a great example of excellent taste), and the kind of stage apparel that\'s going to set you apart. In this unique and diverse music world we live in. Good luck to those in the pop genre, ha.
We\'ve gone out of our way and created a special submissions form for you to get your bands together, heavens knows you probably couldn\'t organize a basket of cats without some help, and if you\'re shy about approaching people you can choose to be assigned to a random (public) band, or you can just stay by the food trucks, eating your feelings. We\'ve also opened up a special forum for everyone to discuss everything in, (well, everything band related, please try to refrain from discussing what happened on last night\'s episode of Subeta\'s Got Talent), as well as form bands, ask for band members or help in styling the perfect outfit. Or most appropriate outfit. Or funniest outfit, I do sometimes enjoy a non-judgmental laugh. Oh, and we\'ll put up an FAQ in there once we\'ve had some...FAQs. Submissions for Battle of the Bands will close at midnight on Sunday 20th July - I imagine Rosemary will handle that, I\'ll be in the VIP lounge away from the people that are without access to the good showers. At that point, our judges will go through the bands, and pick out some finalists from each music category to begin the second phase of battling on Wednesday 23rd July. These will be judged by festival-goers themselves, with the winners of each music genre and the grand festival champion being announced on the 27th.
There will be prizes for entering, prizes for getting into the finals, and of course prizes for winning. Honestly, does nobody do anything just for fun anymore?

Some questions:
1) Do HAs get submitted when we create the band or is that a separate section?
2) When HAs are submitted - do our backgrounds stay on or are they removed automatically? (this is really important to know so we can make sure we don't waste time/effort tying our group together with something that won't be seen)
3) Where is the FAQ? :P

I'm having the same problem that TaterSalad is having, with the band image not saving. It acts like its going to save and then the little save circle just goes on and on and on.
@Freida, you're hilarious. I am disappointed that the "band image" shows backgrounds, however. This means zombies like me have a major problem if we're wearing cover-ups like whiteout. sigh I have a huge ugly white rectangle, and it looks awful.
Staff, I can't get the band to save in the "band image" section. I move the players around and click "save" but I just just get the blue saving circle forever and it never finishes. Should I be doing something else? Thanks
This sounds interesting, Maybe I can get a Quasi-Celtic-Retro-Renaissance-Early-Macho-Gothic fife and bassoon boy-band together so that I can play my sackbut and crumhorn. We would need a hurdy-gurdy, heckelphone, kazoo and snoot-flute. Diddlybow players need not apply.

Can anyone confirm the character limit for the description? Also do I need to dress my HA in my band apparel before I submit my submission?
Is the low character limit in the band description field really neccessary? The double amount would be really helpful :0
I don't think anybody who doesn't play violin knows violins don't have frets, but also he didn't really say violins do have frets, just string instruments. Though the way he said it it does seem he includes all string instruments into it e-e

Do we have to have the maximum amount of people (six) in a band or can it be from two to six (like the form suggestions with "max band members")?

I have a question... Where is heavy metal Genre and Classical?! O_o Those two are my favorite kinds an not even up? am I the only one seeing things?
Oh thank goodness this doesn't require actual musical skills x) I don't know how to play any instruments unless they involve rock band/guitar hero controllers, and my singing is so so at best x)
Is this going to be something that will require being active, as in online for more than a few minutes at a time? Or will it be more like the HA contests where you just have to submit an entry? Because I'll be on vacation for a few weeks, and though I'll have internet access it won't be for long periods of time. I'd rather not drag any teams down by not being able to play much. :(

Suggestion: Can you clarify the entry deadline by making it 11:59pm or something? "Midnight on Sunday 20th July" sounds like we have until the end of the day on Sunday, but probably actually means Saturday is the last day.
If that's the case, there are bound to be people who miss the deadline because they think they have an extra 24 hours.

Err.. let me clarify that better. It would have been a great opportunity to make those wearable before the event because they would be critical elements in a music themed HA event.
Now that I'm thinking about this more, it would have been really cool if staff had announced that the microphones and drum sticks had been made wearable before announcing this event :'(

For those of you confused about what this is all about...it's about creativity! Be creative with your name, the description, your costumes...there will be more to do as the battle continues, so start thinking about ways you can get your band's name out there! :)
I want to enter, just because...but I think I'll wait a bit and see how it's all supposed to work. I like to know what else is involved besides creating a band/joining one!
The page that lists bands under a certain genre need some line or paragraph breaks. They jumble together.

I have a question about this...are we going to be making HAs that we'll then have to wear throughout the event? Or will we just be able to upload them or something? I hope someone sees and answers this.

I am SO EXCITED. MUSIC AND FUN AND SUBETA AND MUSIC. AND FUN. And maybe even a chance to make a bit of a difference? I'm going to create an indie/folk band centered around environmental activism. Anyone with me?

I think I'll wait to join something until the FAQ comes out. I really want to join a nice punk/rock group, but I'd rather wait until I know more about things so that I'm not a bother by not being sure what to do. ;_;

Question- So far the members in the band preview have no clothing on (or maybe it's just me since I there's nobody else.) I'm hoping that we get to dress our HAs in some fashion so that it looks more band-like and not... naked-y? o3o

Ah I was dreading this. Virelai still looks good and the outfit art is delicious, but that snozz. It doesn't ruin his look but I won't be slobbering in the music shop as much. :(
Is this a themed HA contest? I am glad it doesn't require any actual musician work as I am not a musician.
I'm torn between the new version and the old one. He just looks very different from his original appearance, but as I said, I'm quite a fan of both.

it's so jarring to see these old NPCs revamped when they abruptly gain noses after years of having a little black dot where the nose ought to have been. but after the initial shock, i always find i am much more partial to the new versions.

One of my band members name disapears. None of my band members are listed on the Band Preview page when I put there names down just mine. Do I have to get them to join before they show up - I just assumed they would show up when i put their names in???/ HELP please
