SNOWBALL FIGHT!

Earlier today, the shopping district of Subeta was rocked by turmoil as a debate raged on between two shop owners: Tobias of the Toy Box, and Dolly of the Candy Shack. I was able to determine the source of the turmoil in my exclusive interview with Dolly this afternoon:

“Tobias thinks he’s SO cool running the toy shop, like it’s somehow BETTER than my candy shop. I mean come on, no stupid toy is ever going to be as awesome as getting a whole box of CANDY for Luminaire!”

At this point, Tobias interjected:

“Dolly, you are the stupid one. Like candy would ever be better than toys! Candy is gone in like, 2 minutes but toys can be played with all Luminaire! “

“Pfft, your cheap toys always end up broken in 2 minutes, and then you’ve got a broken toy AND no deliciously full belly. Sorry not sorry, but candy is obviously the winner.”

“There’s only one way we can settle this. You want to snowball fight for it?”

“HECK YEAH I DO!”

I bravely tried to petition for a cease snowball, but it seems that these fierce titans of industry cannot be reasoned with, though I did get them to agree to a set of rules in order to keep the frostbite at bay! As well as battling for honor, the two shopkeepers are willing to give a few prizes to those that help them out.

Shiny Toy Sled
Sweetie Cane Necklace

For participating:

• Team-themed achievement and title

• 3 retired Melody’s Cottage items

• Trow Trophy for your profile!

In addition to the participant prizes, the winning team will receive:

• 2 retired Melody’s cottage items

• A special winter themed wearable

And that's not all! You can also win a team-themed item from your own team’s captain if you manage to throw a certain amount of snowballs over the course of the battle. The top 10% of snowball throwers from either team will also receive a special achievement and title!

To find out more and to join the fight, I’ve been informed to tell you to GO HERE!

There is also now a Luminaire forum for you to find potential targets! All Luminaire threads have been moved there, make sure to only hit members of the opposing team! Also, you can only be hit by snowballs if you choose to participate in the fight!

Who will rise victorious and who will get the cold shoulder? Only time will tell!

Come on guys, let's show those toy lovers what's what!

It's gonna be so sweet to win!!

Let's all get together and show people that candy is the absolute BEST!!

Intro is just carelessly manipulating your hearts with her toy story gifs... I would... totally... never do that...

When is this over? I wanna see my HA again..lol..It was fun though!
1

Botanist

The team prize is currently 'Earned for having more than 0 snowballs thrown at the end.'

It was in the high thirties yesterday, and I think in the high 20s when I started. I can't imagine what mysterious process is calculating these numbers, but it seems odd to have it at all if it's going to be so indecisive
3

Memorv

Is "Your score" supposed to show up on both teams?

@far's first comment at the bottom (even though it doesn't ping) I've come to throw with you again.... *Or am I the only simon and garfunkel nerd on here* <3

All I can say is that the teams had been pretty well tied all this time even though it 'looked' so unfair to so many. Dolly had about 1/3 more members and threw about 1/3 more snowballs so the average was tied. Now a few days in with all this negativity and griping about teammates who are mostly trying their hardest but dealing with shortcomings (their busy RL, slower computer, moral objection to autorefreshers, lack of sp) and NOW team dolly is slipping. If I was doing my best and getting put down for it I would probably stop throwing too. TEAM spirit, if you don't like joining in/depending on others for a team event, you shouldn't have joined a team. Ragging on others who aren't doing as well as you is a recipe for disaster. How many projects/sports teams/homes can run effectively with the best members putting down everyone else and telling them they should never have joined up? Take a breath, click your pixels, cheer everyone on, and let the snowballs fall where they may! ^_^ FUN ^_^ GO TEAM TOBIAS!
5

CastlesInTheSky

Skimming the the first few comments I say there should be a team event every month!
Everyone gets along so well. It's harmony
1

Starlessnight

@forcryingoutload
I'm honestly curious: why do you care so much? Both teams get almost the exact same prizes in the end. Events such as these may have what people see as "unfair" but that's to be expected. Both teams have slackers and both teams will have those who throw an inordinate amount of snowballs.
Also, your solutions don't seem fair. By counting the top 1500 throwers (which is pretty much all of team tobias, so you are giving that team an advantage, and I assume you are in dolly... I don't think you would like that), you are discounting the efforts of everybody else in the team, which also defeats the purpose of the team itself. The average is the best compromise, because if it was based off the amount of snowballs thrown, everybody may as well have agreed to join one team and not join the other, and there would be no competition because everybody wins.
8

Francine

<insert pointless comment complaining about something ridiculous here>
6

forcryinoutloud

It would make FAR more sense to either score based on the top 1500 throwers for each team, or just bloody well count every single snowball thrown. This average crap is ridiculous. X( No, no one should be forced to participate if they don't want to, or "have a life outside the game", but neither should those spending as much time and SP on this be forced into getting dragged down because some people joined just for the free items and don't want to participate in the throwing.
1

Shae

And now the number of members for each team is back down to a reasonable number. The main page for this event is confusing as it keeps changing quite drastically. At one point this morning it showed over 10k people on one team and over 8k people on the other team...there aren't even that many active players on site I'm pretty sure.
Whatevs. I'm still chucking away :)
0

Med_Kitty

I don't understand how team Dolly has so many more snowballs thrown yet we are losing. Scoring makes no sense to me what so ever
4

Shae

The numbers are all squished on the screen now, but it looks like Team Toys now has 5000 more members than Team Candy...that can't be right. Can it?
0

Ryna

Why is this fun getting serious :o
2

Illyria

Sarens attitude is exactly why I hate community steps - I agree with everything you said BTW. Nobody should have to do anything or be forced to participate if they don't want too...but then people like me who DO want to participate and want to participate hard, shouldn't have to be stuck in a group with you being dragged down while you harp on about 'just because I have a life...' bla bla bla
If you have a life, great! Go live it! Why even join the team - because these pointless pixels are not srs bsns yo!

Keith, just wondering when the secret sauce is gonna kick in.

Keith, make it 100%.
1

StarShadow

40K snowballs thrown by some people?!? Wow. I'm already tired of throwing them clicking over and over and don't even have 2K yet. Then again I work full time so don't have 24/7 to sit at the computer clicking for hours. While this game is fun I'm hoping it ends within the next couple days so I can go back to throwing snowballs at friends.
3

IJskoningin

I am not getting the scoring system.
1

LunaWolf

Dear fellow team members,
I am sooo done with the snowballs. Sorry I hung in as long as I could. Good luck to all.
2

Lillydivine

While I was enjoying the snowball fight, I disagree with the scoring. I'm putting sP into this and have thrown over 1000 snowballs for my team. Yet my score is less than it was this morning (338). Thanks to this scoring system you've created, I feel this 'fight' is now a virtual waste of time and resources.
0

GoldenCoyote

Sorry to disappoint the people complaining about "dead weight," but there are some people here who are grown-ups with things to do during the day (and some of us work most of the night, too - especially this time of the year.)

There are players who don't run auto-refreshers, who have to click, and click, and click, and click for each individual snowball thrown, and that's not JUST incredibly boring: if you have a repetitive stress injury like I do, it gets painful after about ten or fifteen snowballs, and you need to stop for a little while to let it subside. If your JOB already involves a lot of small, repetitive motions (i.e. making jewelry, art, handicrafts, etc,) and you're already -tender-, then all those pauses add up fast. And no, people in that position don't HAVE to push themselves and risk more severe pain and potentially further INJURY just to satisfy your INTERWEB GAMES IS SRS BZNS drive.

And on the subject of auto-refreshers? Not only are those CHEATING, but a lot of people aren't playing on machines capable of running them. Again, I'm not going to risk something in REAL LIFE (i.e. my computer) just to make someone happy online.

And some people? Might just be Subeta-poor, or dedicating a substantial chunk of SP to Luminaire gifts, and playing as their personal finances allow.

So chill the frag out, and respect that a lot of people don't have the physical, mental, financial, and/or technical ability or drive to do something as SRS BZNS as throwing digital snowballs ALL DAY LONG (or programming/installing a cheat bot to do it for them.)
17

Hamda

@Shae

5K? Please, there are people with over 40K snowballs thrown. yes sleep is optional XD

actually yesterday there was no 5 second wait time so just smash the throw at random person button for five minutes and it throws at least 100 snowballs ^_^;
1

far

people take virtual battle way too seriously.
5

n_zelda_n

I don't understand how the score systems work xD;
0

Shae

Sorry...that was really whiney. I should also say that I am loving seeing the complete snowball bombed HAs everyone is sporting because I find them hilarious. I am also enjoying seeing usernames I have never seen before when I use the random opponent option. We have some very creative users and some with a wicked sense of humor :)
I am liking the event...I was just dismayed to find out how pitiful my efforts have been in comparison to several others. It's ok though...I'm still enjoying the concept :)
1

Shae

Holy crap! There are people who have thrown over 5k snowballs already? JFC! Why am I bothering? With numbers like that, there is no way I will ever come anywhere close to the top 10% unless I download an auto refresher. Even then, I don't see how after not throwing thousands these first two days I would ever catch up.
Sigh.
I have a question though...do the snowballs that we throw that are "deflected" by someone wearing the shield count towards our amount thrown or are those a complete waste?
0

egg

Team Candy is losing. Join Team Tobias for easy wins and much prizes!
5

Illyria

@LucidDreams Your not dragging me down sweetie don't worry  You threw 200, that's still a lot and honestly it is frickin boring as heck and it IS the busiest time of year, so I don't blame people really...I'm just frustrated, I hate community steps because I hate having to rely on other people and don't want to put pressure on anyone *lone warrior* xD
2

Natsume

I liked it better when it was just the cumulative score for events like these. At least if you did participate you could do so at your leisure and to the extent you desired instead of basically being forced to participate because otherwise you'd be a deadweight. I don't mean to damper anyone's spirits but I'm at the point where I'm wishing there was a retire option so I didn't have to participate anymore. It'd be nice if there was something like that maybe your final score is still counted but you'd be considered a 'retired' member and not be counted in the average. That way people who want to throw what they want can, leave, and allow others to continue as they please without causing frustration. xD Just my two cents.

GOOO team Candy!! :D

I know team tobias is the underdog but GUYS WE'RE WINNING! Wooo!~ Go team Tobias!!

I work full time so it will be difficult for me to fire thousands of snowballs like some are apparently doing and the time I am on Subeta I need to do quests and other stuff. But I'm trying. I've thrown well over a thousand so far. Hope this ends by end of this week so we have time for other stuff. And I can't throw snowballs at my friends until this is over. Also hope they give us a day's warning so we can use up what snowballs we have left.

@Illyria Yeah personal scores definitely should count for more than just the achievement and title! I'm sorry I'm dragging you down hun, I'm usually a fan of competitive team things but the timing of this is just crappy for me; when I get here I just want to relax and finish my Luminaire shopping rather than mindlessly refreshing a page. x_x

I agree with whoever said that there should be a way to opt out. But then again I don't think it's fair that some people shouldn't be allowed to join and get the cute trophy/team item just because they can't throw 500+ snowballs or whatever people expect everyone to throw. I've always liked that Subeta is more relaxed with events and you don't have to play all day everyday to keep up.
3

Illyria

@LucidDreams True xD
Then I think it should have been total snowballs thrown or our own personal scores because honestly, when your bunched into a team that really, you didn't create...you can't exactly force them to participate if they don't want too (and whether they want to or not is up to them - no one should be forced)
Now I like to think that I'm not a bi**h but things like this do bring out a bit of an ugly side because I'm quite competitive and don't like losing....well its out of my hands when I'm stuck on a team with people I didn't choose to be with...if that makes sense?
We've thrown nearly twice as many as snowballs as tobias but we're still losing because people are joining and throwing like one snowball or something, yes I'm annoyed because of this because I feel like I'm working hard on it but it doesn't matter, what I'm doing isn't even making a difference because a lot of people are doing nothing.
Its like your fate is in other peoples hands...and it sucks butt xD

5

LucidDreams

Even if people couldn't see which team was winning, more people would probably join Dolly because more people on this site like the girly cutesy stuff. That was the point I was trying to make earlier- not everyone is joining the team just because they think it's winning.

@Illyria (Idk why I put pings here as I know they don't work lol!) If sign-ups were closed after 24 hours we'd probably be doing even worse now. From what I saw most people hopped onto Dolly's side within the first day. ^-^;

"There are going to be people on BOTH teams who don't "pull their weight." And there are going to be people on BOTH teams who spend hours refreshing. And there are going to be people on BOTH teams who join whatever team they think will win and not contribute. Or DO contribute. Just because one team has more or less people doesn't mean they do or don't "deserve" to win, yeah? Both teams are being super hardworking, yeah?"

^I couldn't agree more. ^-^ Although I would be happy if Tobias' team won just because I don't see them spending their time bitching at their own teammates on the forums/in news posts. Maybe that's why they're winning lol! The member counts aren't even that far apart now.
6

Hamda

I would suggest a side plot for extra points. or coli challengers with points that tally towards the event.

It's day two and because of the 5 second rule I'm getting really bored of throwing. managed 5K yesterday but only 500 today and not sure if I can keep going like this over the weekend ;u;
7

Illyria

Or you could give people 24/48 hours to join a team before the event even starts and then close sign ups...that way, people won't just join because the team looks like it's winning...
Not online for 48 hours? Too bad

But honestly I think this should have been done either overall snowballs thrown or personal snowballs thrown because it's hard not too be bitter at the dead weight when your arm is falling off from trying.
3

Memorv

@metal or, like someone else said, (don't remember who, sorry... my mind is a bit foggy right now) they could just not show the amount of members each team has until they join.

The main question on everyone's mind... WHEN DOES THIS EVENT END?
12

How about next time we have an event like this aka teams, we not let anyone just pick either team. Put in place a feature where you can only join a team if the other has more or the same members. That way we avoid everyone piling onto one side because its winning at that second or just has more members. Keeps it even and prevents freeloading bullshit like this

kittykitten, there isn't, sorry! i don't imagine it will be a function they will look to include, either. while it is a bit tedious (i should know, i've been on the page for hours sending out hundreds of snowballs since i got on this morning) to throw them individually, that is somewhat the essence of the event.

i'm already quite surprised but pleased that they added a bundle purchase function for the snowballs, as well as some of the other smaller things they added along the way (random target, for example). i can't even imagine the impact on the score and server load there might be if over 500 people were throwing 100 snowballs at a time. yikes. my wrist is cramping too, haha. make sure not to make anyone too angry. the team appreciates your effort!

also even though this needs a little more tweaking i think to even everything out and make it fair and square, i'm really glad to see staff taking a proactive role in tinkering with things/events so they're funner for the people actually participating in them. always happy to see when people don't shy away from catering to the crowd who is putting in effort and not just the entire user base. gonna try to do at least 50 to 100 snowballs a day, even with work. candy WILL win.
2

Jinjah

Can you please include a bow out option next year? That would be grand.
1

KittyKitten

Maybe this is a lame question but is their any way at all to 'mass' throw the snow balls? My wrist fingers are killing me and brother is getting annoyed cause I'm hogging the computer - Like a-lot XD

Otherwise this event is uber amusing! x3 GO SWEETS! -hides-
0

StarShadow

I've thrown over 1K snowballs and getting kinda tired. Had to take a break and do quests. Agree with a few others, it's tiring and kind of boring just throwing snowballs over and over. I want to hit some of my friends but can't.

Not sure how the points are working out but I'm so damned glad to see it's not just a case of join the most popular team crap again. I've thrown a few hundred. Curious to see how long this is going to last... Day 1 and I'm pretty much bored and honestly know there isn't a point into sinking hundreds more for that top 10 because of auto clickers/peeps with no lives. (Love you though) Would also like to know about how the Freeloader thing is working. Is that done per day? Some days I'm busy and I'm going to be pretty upset if I get kicked off some other day because I had doctor's appointments or something.

Hellbent

Okay two things.
1) I dont know if I missed this announcement or if it was never made but: WHEN DOES THIS END? Does it go until the end of the month? end of the week? until the 25th? When please, please, pretty please with a cherry on top please, tell me when.

and

2) Do you think 11,540 is enough to be in the top 10% when it ends or do I need to keep going? 'cause i'm now bored and tired and Dolly probably isnt going to win because of the throw-no/one-snowball members so there really isn't any point to me trying more than i have already unless it's to get in the top 10% ugh.

I think it would be interesting if you could only get the prize if you throw more than the other teams avg. this way more people would be more competitive.
4

LucidDreams

"if you like the item, good for you go buy it after the fact or something? don't ruin the whole event for someone else"

The only people ruining this "event" are those with attitudes like yours. It took me a while to throw 200 snowballs; unlike what seems like a huge amount of people in this event, I'm not running an auto-refresher or anything like that. I found the snowball-throwing to be tedious, and if I'd know that was all there was to the event believe me, I wouldn't have bothered participating.

This all just brings back memories of Neopets' altador cup, and all of the taunts of "Freeloader" that those who didn't want to play all day would get. You all need to grow up. Not everybody is going to play the game to the extent that you expect them to.
12

Natsume

I've literally been throwing snowballs all damn day.. and yet I feel like I'm not helping at all. xD The more I throw, the more pointless it seems.. woo fun. Sounds like it's time to pack it in. no pun intended.
3

StarShadow

As much fun as this is I hope it doesn't last until Xmas because there are other people I want to snowball. Right now the only friend I can hit is on my team. :(
I also hope they give us warning before it ends so we can use up our snowballs instead of being stuck with tons of them when the fight is over and seeing the prices plummet.
2

nobody

@LucidDreams

in my opinion, if you're not going to participate in the event - either wait until the end to join, or don't join at all? first of all, you can't even get the necklace without throwing a certain amount of snowballs, so if they're joining and not even trying, then they're not getting the prize they 'joined for'. and because the number of snowballs needing to be thrown for the prize increases with the amount of snowballs being thrown, they will have to continue to add to their total until the end. so if you are a 'deadbeat' user, you are doing literally nothing for the team or yourself.

you're not supposed to join the team because 'candy is cute' or 'bright pastel colors' or 'boys have cooties'. you join because you want to help your team WIN an event. no one here, no matter what you want to believe, is going to join an event and spend 2-3 hours throwing snowballs because they 'don't mind losing'. i've thrown over 300, and i'll continue to throw them, but you can bet i'm annoyed that our team is working their butt off for people who are doing nothing and just waiting to mooch off whatever prizes we get. which will be very few, thanks to said people.

i don't think the teams should be closed. i think, like other users have mentioned and said may have even been implemented, i think deadbeats should be kicked off the team. i think if you haven't thrown an average of a certain amount of snowballs a day, you need to be off the team. unless keith is interested in changing the ENTIRE way this is calculated, that's the only fair thing to do. also, i'm not sure you're understanding how the event works or is calculated?

dolly's team has to throw nearly 3x the amount of snowballs as tobias' to gain even a point. scoring is done by amount of snowballs thrown vs amount of team members. their members are actively participating, and the few on our team who are actually trying (and have been for HOURS) just can't compete with that. i'm not saying they don't deserve to win, but they're obviously not putting in more effort, you're just not paying attention.

'end of story'.
6

taBOO

@LucidDreams

okay well just gonna point out the fact that this is an event intended to be fun but still an event
events require participation
if you like the item, good for you go buy it after the fact or something? don't ruin the whole event for someone else - i don't really see anything wrong with everyone's JUSTIFIED attitudes

because if you've looked below/at how things are calculated, tobias' team has to do im pretty sure literally half of what we've had to to be even close so no, they dont really "deserve" to win just sayin'
2

taBOO

@Keith

Curious but if 'dead weight' members rejoin will they be removed again/how will that work?
2

was super excited for this once it was posted - and actually, still a bit excited. just a little disappointed that people are jumping onto dolly's team for a free win and not pulling their weight. some of us are getting cramps in our fingers and wrists and draining our SP for this, and some people haven't even thrown a single snowball? *rolls eyes* whatever. they can be grinches if they want. hope to still get some good stuff out of this even, even if our team loses.

Malevolent

Whoa. How did Dolly catch up all the sudden?
1

Evlon

@Hamda
If they've thrown at least ONE they count. It just doesn't count people who've thrown 0. From the info that was discussed in the SB last night.
0

Keith

Note: Just pushed a series of changes that alters how its calculated.

It´s so easy since we can buy the snowballs in bulk! Go, Team Tobias, go! This little sleigh is too cute!!!! <3
2

Hamda

Quote by @Keith:
@Tserel It's the averaged score (score / members) with a little bit of secret sauce to keep people who've not participated counting against
Takes out a calculator

So when do you apply the secret sauce? because 1,064,836 (snowballs) / 2,077 (members) = 512.67 (current score is 512)

Team dolly needs that sauce!!!!
0

Inknote

Man at first I didn't mind that we had a lot of users who probably werent doing anything but now with the gap increasing even though we have so many more users, it's getting to me :(
0

LucidDreams

Lmao at these attitudes. "dead beats"...have you considered that maybe more people are joining Dolly's team because more of us like cutesy pastel-coloured candy stuff? I know I joined because I preferred the cute little necklace to Tobias' toy. And to suggest that the team should be closed so that we can catch up is ridiculous; Tobias' team deserve to win, they're obviously putting more effort into it, end of story.

I think a lot of these people are so pissed off because *they* joined the team that they thought was going to win and now it isn't looking so good for us. xD

Lol at hipster's gif, I hadn't even noticed the troll doll trophy! I'm glad I participated just for that now haha.
2

Ferinsy

well, I said... without a warning said it doesn't matter the amount of members/snowballs thrown, but the average snowballs thrown per person, there'll be a lot of freeloaders on the candy team.
But with the timing between snowballs, and now with the prevent of refreshing the page, it'll discourage people to keep throwing. I'm glad I thrown 3k balls before the hash thing lel
1

Evlon

Honestly I feel like the candy team should be closed for new members for a while to let the team numbers even out. It's highly unclear who's winning so dead beats keep joining the candy team thinking "I'll get a free win!" and dragging it down more. Honestly with the fact that team candy has nearly 2x as many members I don't think it'd be unreasonable to have it closed until they are about even in numbers lol. Right now it looks pretty pointless to keep throwing, because even though people are way over the average the snowballs the high scores are tossing basically count for nothing, because we have so many members lol.
2

hipster

13

LucidDreams

@jnerraw It looks like the points are figured out by taking the number of snowballs thrown, and dividing that by the number of team members. So we're losing as not all of our team members are throwing many snowballs (myself included; I've thrown 200 but I just can't bring myself to throw any more, it's so unbelievably boring just refreshing that page and the 5 second time limit between throws has made it even worse. Due to the attitudes towards people who have thrown -500 snowballs, I wish I'd never bothered participating. Merry Christmas everyone! :/ )
2

berberbug

Go team candy
0

MythLore

The 5 second between throws thing is seriously messing me up. We're already 14 points behind and it's like pulling teeth now to actually get a decent amount of snowballs thrown to make up for the ridiculous amounts of people on our team not doing anything. -_-
2

Vie

How long is the event, if anyone knows?
1

Alferia

I was worried about snowballs being too hard to come by but I love that you can buy them in bulk right from the shop! Ace! Let's do this!
2

chris

@tobias

go team go ;'D
4

springjoy

wah! team Dolly has thrown almost a mil snowballs and we're STILL LOOSING?! Ugh. We must have terrible aim. :P
2

Botanist

Thanks very much for the clear guidelines on what the prizes are and the requirements to earn them - that's a very welcome change to the usual flailing around the dark not sure whether I've earned little or loads.
5

jnerraw

How are the points figured out? Dolly has more members and way more snowballs thrown but less points?
1

StarShadow

Has anyone found out how long this snowball fight will last? I have friends I want to snowball but can't.
1

Theory

In spite of the Unavailable servers, I'm really enjoying the big snowball fight. :D
I wonder how long it would take for those poor avatars to crumble under the weight of all that snow

Go Team Toys!
3

Ewok

It's been only 12 hours since I woke up to this event and it's already driving me absolutely crazy seeing my name everywhere.
DID YOU REALLY HAVE TO PICK TOBIAS? Plenty of other shop keepers to use guys.
3

starlesswinter

On a slower internet connection, I managed about 160ish in an hour. I refuse to be deadweight, but I can't be as fast as some. More snow to throw! :)
4

Gray

So, this is fun. ^^
0

babytwinklette

Why does the number of snowballs to get a prize keep going up? Is that the 10% prize?
0

Bot

Eat my snowballs, candy smuckers. ;)

psychedeejus

http://static.fjcdn.com/gifs/Tactical+advantage_f141ec_5080820.gif
1

psychedeejus

This is fun! Luckily I have fast internet so I have been actually ending up throwing them too fast :/ but sometimes the site has gone down, whatevs there are hundreds of people pelting virtual snowballs at each other every second so I would assume there would be some issues. Hopefully this little fight won't last too long because of that. Still fun though! Go team Dolly!
0

Roo_965

25 snowballs purchased at a time and a 5 second wait between throws? Bummer. I was getting pretty good at snowball-spamming.
2

Romaki

You could really add (way) more tiers to the snowball achievements, this fight is a good motivation and there should be a reward for the participants who throw lots of snowballs. :)
7

Porygon

If we implement punishments for "deadweight" members, it will also unfairly affect those who have slow internet. I'm trying my best to throw snowballs but with every refresh it seems the site crashes. It makes my computer go slow so I just leave the window and everytime I come back, it's still lagging.
5

Chef

If you buy a bunch of the same snowball, you can just refresh the page after you click the button to throw at a random opponent. You don't have to go back and forth that way.
3

michelepeele

Went from 50 to 25 on buying thats not fair
0

bulleta

I hope the prizes aren't too nice because I'm not feeling up to site events lately
But have fun y'all!
0

Thelma

For people with slower connections/computers, 100 snowballs would be closer to an hour. That's why I suggested earlier to take out the "throw a snowball at a random person" page and just make it throw at a random person when you click the snowball. That would help with the lag a lot.
More pages refreshing, means slower load times.
9

Carol

For anyone concerned about time, I timed myself, and it took me less than 10 minutes to throw over 100 snowballs at random members of the opposing team, which got me up over my team's average. Not much of a grind. ;)
7

Stakely

There will always be spoil sports, debbie downers, and smug folks so just keep throwing your snowballs and encouraging others to do so. It's still a pretty even race so there's still hope!

GO TEAM TOBIAS, KEEP PELTING THOSE losers SUGAR FIENDS
6

Choco

I don't think it matters that much if people join, but do not throw snowballs - while the team might have to make up for them, in the end the opposing team will also have members like that.
And even if they just joined for the heck of it - the more people joined, the more people you can hit with your snowballs! :D
3

HYPEBEAST

There are no rules about having to do anything during the events. Sorry!
1

Luck

Also Service Unavailable is getting extremely annoying...
4

Luck

Well I'm not going to take back what I said about dead weight :) When it comes to a team effort like this, people who join and sit on their ass the entire time actually ARE dead weight. The buying and throwing process is very easy, there's no excuse why you can't throw even one snowball.
8

Xero

Kinda sucks that people are joining teams just to do nothing at all. Especially when you can easily throw snowballs at random people and buy stacks of 50 snowballs for 12,5k sP each stack so it isn't even expensive. They will even count towards the achievments. .__.

Totally loving this event!
I'll stand by you Dolly, no worries! *nomnom*
0

BlackCherry

This is funny but ..c'mon also throw snowballs, not only join a team!
0

Roo_965

@Heroine - You're right! I got a closer look at that message finally. "Ouch! You tried to throw a Catfish Snowball at but they reflected it! Maybe you should be a little more careful next time..." Fair's fair.
0

Memorv

Please dear god do not make this last until the end of the month.
8

HYPEBEAST

Besides, I was indicating that I haven't got the time to not become a 'dead weight' like someone said...
People are taking this site too seriously.

In the time it took to post that you could have literally sent like 20. If you have no time for 'pixels' then why are you even on this website, don't act so smug and superior - it just looks ridiculous.
15

usagi

GO TOBIAS GO GO GO 8D
5

Thelma

It would probably speed things up just a bit if when we clicked a snowball it automatically hit a random member of the other team, instead of having to load another page.

1.Click snowball
2.You hit So and So!
3.Go back to snowball page

-Instead of-

1.Click Snowball
2.Go to random user page
3.You hit So and So!
4.Go back to snowball page

I'm sure there are people who like the individual one but I think for the event it would be better not to have to load more pages than absolutely necessary.
Thank you for letting us buy multiple snowballs though, that helps and speeds things up considerably.
8

homestuck

I don't care, I SHIP IT
0

Stakely

This is such a clever compromise to the whole unwanted snowball issue. I LOVE IT.

1) Dodge
2) Duck
3) Dip
4) Dive
5) Dodge

GO TEAM TOBIAS
6

HYPEBEAST

If it's such a big deal, I can voluntarily leave the team. You see, I have a life and not much time to be throwing pixel snowballs around.
3

FLUX

I personally think that people from either team who don't throw a snowball within a certain timeframe should be expelled from the team. It means they get the prizes for doing nothing which isn't really fair?
6

Choco

BANZAI!!
1

PinkiePie

Totally joining this, hope it lasts a while because I have to work today :(
1

I will not stop throwing even my computer freeze and so much lags, that's my spirit >:(

0

Arch-Guardian-Angel

*sigh* 1k members in candy team ffs people get your shit together go buy some snowballs :/ and throw it :/
2

Memorv

PSA JOINING WHILE DOING NOTHING OR JUST A LITTLE BIT WILL ONLY BRING US DOWN. THE MORE MEMBERS THERE ARE THE MORE SNOWBALLS NEED TO BE THROWN. START PULLING YOUR WEIGHT DOLLIES!!!
6

Mabon

I wanted to join the candy side buuuttt I preferred the sled wearable so. Sorry Dolly but I support you deep down inside I swear it.
0

Cake_580

Poor dolly, less people actually participating ]:
4

Natsume

I know the feeling.. I keep getting 'server unavailable' ;; lol
2

Volatile

I don't know if it's just the lag, or what, cuz I'm hearing people say they've thrown 1,000... 2,000... or more snowballs, and I'm up to a grand total of almost 150 after sitting here for nearly three hours... waah... T.T
3

CastlesInTheSky

"Service Unavailable
The service is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later."

is what ive been dealing with for the past 90min.
On the plus side, Ive downlaoded 12 episodes of a tv show in 720p in the same time.
WIN for me.
0

Hatchuu

I was keeping up until lag kicked in. It took three refreshes just to get this page. I hope the servers pick up soon, it's a little frustrating (but understandable).
1

LunaWolf

1,116 Your Score... LOL wow that is a lot of snowballs i have thrown
1

Screech93

So glad you guys made this easy by buying 50 snowballs at a time and throwing them at random members of the opposing team. XD
1

CastlesInTheSky

not for nothing but the LAG is horendious!
If it stays how it is now it will take me all day to do my quests
1

Hetty

Thanks for the option to buy 50 at a time! So much easier :)
8

Ewok

Why do I feel like I do not really have a choice what team to join :p
8

Amae

Sorry Dolly, you're the cuter option, but I actually collect toys and have never been a big candy person so. Gotta sleep tonight, going to bed with a score of 250.
0

Volatile

Come on, Candy Crusaders! Let's kill them all! BWAHAHAHA XD
0

Myrddin

Will Avalanche Emporium return to being a normal shop (and the rarities of the snowballs returned to their pre-Holiday Item rarity) when this is over? O.o
1

LunaWolf

224 Your Score.... AND COUNTING :)
0

DoomQueen

Can the item called SNOWBALL be launched by the snowtapult? It should have been added to the list.
1

LunaWolf

WOOOHOOO
1

Luck

I think dolly's team is going to lose thanks to dead weight users joining just because dolly's team has thrown more snowballs.... people should pull their own weight -_-
15

MsBehavin

@Keith Do these snowballs we are throwing count towards the achievement or not?
0

EmCee

I LIKE 2 EAT CANDY.
LET'S GO DOLLY, MOMMA NEEDS A NEW NECKLACE.
4

Fashionista

Candy is 100% a winner. I LOVE CANDY.

-hides all the tech stuff-
1

Heroine

@Roo
I think that message pops up when someone has the snowball-deflecting item activated. Don't worry, you didn't hit members of your team.
2

NaRaNa

TOBIAS! :D
0

Memorv

I do love toys, especially video games... but I just feel more akin with Dolly more so I have to choose her.
1

Roo_965

So I have been using the "Random Opposing Team Member" option since it started, but as I was x-ing my tabs, I noticed something about "being more careful" - does that mean I hit someone on my team? Pretty uncool since I chose a preset option :(
2

Memorv

LITTLE DOLLY ALL THE WAY!!! AND OMG TROPHY YES!!!!!!!!!!
0

FCoD

Having fun, this way I can toss snowballs all over the place and not have to go out in the cold. Works for me. :)
1

StarShadow

What Egypt said! :)
How long is this event? Will it end before Xmas?
3

Me-Guru

I notice on the amount of snowballs thrown at the end has dropped from 38 to 22 ~ :( ~
0

Egypt

Toys! Considering video game systems are toys, candy can never be better
0

Vanitas

I was going to join Team Toys, until I heard a disgusted "Blehck!" while preparing my Love Snowballs... and was soon banned from Tobias' fort. Oh well! :) Hi Dolly, no hard feelings?
2

CassieFenix

Meh, I'll just watch from the sidelines. I like both candy and toys (when I was younger, that is) for Christmas.

Good luck to all!
0

StarShadow

Uh, unless I missed it does anybody know how long this game lasts? I didn't see anything about when it ends.
6

KittenDoll

Subeta ate my snowballs :(
0

Curbstomped

This is SO fun! And anyone who joins a team and doesn't throw at LEAST one snowball should get a penalty...carry your weight and be a team player! ;^D
2

Falini_Fyreheart

This is a cute addition to the winter holiday! :)
1

Malevolent

Sooo. I just spent a lot of time opening up tabs to buy lots and lots of snowballs. I spent like... roughly an hour, give or take, buying about 1600 of them. Now they have been removed entirely from my inventory. 8I
0

Zekumi

As simple as this is, it's awfully fun. I'm having a good time.
4

Inknote

It's a GREAT idea to have a shop set up for snowballs. GREAT JOB!!! Now we don't have to worry about the craziness of trying to buy them users at higher prices! :D
1

Julie

This should be fun!!!
0

Ferinsy

Oh, and in addition, it'd be nice if an announcement is set on the top of the page saying it doesn't matter the members number, but the average number per user. If they thing it's about members, Dolly team will probably be filled with freeloaders soon
4

NOVOCAINE

ugh ive thrown close to 300 and im tired hahah everyone looks pretty funny covered in snow xD
2

Ferinsy

Please, don't do this longer than a week. I already thrown 500 snowballs and it'll be really boring if I want to be the top 10%...
0

Romaki

It would be much more unfair and pointless if it was just a popularity contest. Everybody would just join the bigger group and do nothing while winning in the end for this.
This way it encourages you to actually participate.
7

Keith

@boxcutterbaby It's a game :) People who join your team and don't help don't increase your score. That's the problem that Dolly is having right now.
1

Hellbent

I really HATE that it's averaged. Dolly's side has thrown about 20k more than Tobias' but we're only 2 points ahead right now. I dont see how that's fair to those of us actually participating.
2

Natsume

I can't tell who anyone is anymore through all this snow! LOL
4

Alcremie

I too wonder how long this is going to last. I never liked being covered in snowballs (it's why I hid my HA XD)
1

Hemo

Everyone's face is covered by snow now XD
0

Tserel

I giggle every time I see someone with a catfish snowball face now. I am convinced this is my work since that's the snowball I'm throwing ovo
0

lannister_569

all y'all on dolly's side need to up your game, snowballs are only 250 sp let's do this
3

Libra

I like the concept i really do, BUT i don't like how lagged out the site already is and the site has already went down for me about 10 times now.
1

Alcremie

@Keith @far Huh, I thought it was...because up until this point, I was never hit once.
0

Limey

I know it's meant in good fun, but after the violent and frightening world news in the last few days, the wording of the beginning this post was startling and not in a good way. =S
0

simstar

how long will it last?
7

far

@MarissaUnderground
The shield is not 100% effective, especially if you get hit 75 times in an hour.
0

Skolletta

This is brilliant! :D *pelts snowballs at everyone*
2

Keith

MarissaUnderground - Again, it's never been 100% :)
3

Alcremie

@Kieth I WAS wearing the shield - but I still got hit by snowballs.
0

TaintedTamer

*drags self in, coughing up snow, trembling from the weight of the many snow balls clinging to my body*

R-Run you fools!
6

Keith

MarissaUnderground - The shield works, but it's never been 100%.
2

Alcremie

What the? The shield doesn't work!?
0

Keith

Awen - You have to participate and be a part of your team, otherwise you don't earn that prize :)
0

Aynjell

Earned for having more than 14 snowballs thrown at the end. Why is this number so low D:
0

Awen

Why does the amount of snowballs thrown to get the prize keep going up? , its not cool.
0

Alcremie

Oh no, I keep my HA protected to look pretty and festive during the season. Guess it's time to switch out again. Maybe I'll be another scenery HA with a pile of snowballs.....
0

Ravage

How long does this last? So I can plan to come back when Subeta isn't slow.
4

indulge

I kind of need to go bed but my score's only 26, i'm bringing the average down .... ;c
Also, only about half seem to be counting for the achievement?
0

Rii

OMG. I hoarde snowballs for the season and I already THREW THEM ALL. I had over a hundred! Gaaaah!
0

Natsume

Sorry Tobias.. as a food hoarder sadly I cannot support you. *readies snowballs* it's on.
1

Cresenta

There is no HA, only SNOWBALLS! XD I keep laughing at my Avatar, she's lost behind all the snow. :P
0

Darkrai

So the counter under the prize we got for choosing a team, is that supposed to be counting only the different types of snowballs we threw, and is there actually a bonus to throwing all the different kinds? (Not risking it, throwing them all anyway even if there's not or this is unintentional :P)
0

Austria

Thank you so much for putting the events at the top of the page, the random user button, and also making it easier to buy snowballs. You guys thought this one through!
5

Marianne

Is there a reason that not all of my snowballs count (even when they hit and were not reflected)?
0

Synth

Thank you so much for changing the notification! Much better!
1

Hoshi

CRY "HAVOC" AND LET SLIP THE BALLS OF WAR.
8

StarShadow

So if we don't join a team nobody can hit us with snowballs at all? Odd. I love the icy snowball. That's too bad.
0

StarShadow

Well since I'm diabetic so can't eat that yucky sugary candy, guess I'll go with toys. :)
0

TaintedTamer

LETS DO THIS!
0

Keith

introvert - Right, it's averaged. If Dolly has a bunch of members who haven't thrown a snowball, or have only thrown 1, that'll bring the average down.
5

dovesandpixels

This is gonna be good
1

Damon

Also thanks for making the snowballs easier to access and a fair price too.
6

Thelma

Ahh! I see it was changed! Thank you very much :)
1

Ziorac

Ah, averaged I see. Interesting. ...That means all the people who joined Dolly cause it had a slight lead in participants assuming she'd win based on that have kind of screwed over Dolly's side. (I joined cause I preferred the necklace to the sled...) She's gonna get the people looking for an easy win who throw maybe 2 snowballs, which means her side's average will be ruined.
I've already thrown at least 30, but now I kind of wish I'd sided with Tobias. Damn it. That special secret sauce better be strong...
1

egg

Wait wait wait. Dolly's team has more members AND more snowballs throw, yet still has a lesser score.

Something doesn't add up here.
1

Elsa

I like how it's not showing up in my event bar anymore but as a bar on the top of your page. Thanks!
3

Thelma

Love this, but it would be nice to not get an event everytime you get hit. That's going to clog stuff up and may make us miss other pings. Otherwise, this is fun!
2

Peppermint

A SNOWBALL EVENT? Dude, I am so in!

*gleeful giggles*
2

Blanche

Yeah, I gotta say this was a smart sp sink xD
3

Ritual

I love how easy it is atm to buy snowballs. Good thinking, staff :)
3

I'm a unicorn with 2 heads.

I'm fantastic.
4

This is great because it also counts towards the Throw A Snowball achievement. :D

GO TEAM DOLLY!

Oh No! Amber has thrown a Inexplicably Fiery Snowball at you! Maybe you should toss one back at them ;)

ahahhahaha OK THEN
1

Ooh I love the random user feature. Snowball achievements here I come :p
1

Synth

This is awesome and i'm excited but now my event sidebar is like blowing up and i guess that's not going to stop any time soon =X (Go Team Tobias!) lol
2

Thonnya

I think this will be so much fun...Let the snowball fight begin.
0

twocents

@Tserel
I was literally just thinking the same thing. I hope the winning team is based off of average snowballs per team member. After all, two people throwing 200 snowballs is way more impressive than 300 people throwing 201 snowballs.
3

Darkrai

Hey, my HA looks pretty good with a moustache
2

Keith

@Tserel It's the averaged score (score / members) with a little bit of secret sauce to keep people who've not participated counting against the team too badly.
5

Tserel

Just curious since I want prizes but I wanted to join Tobias, so...
0

Digitalis

This is great :D Since I can't throw snowballs IRL... If we DO get snow, it's more like ice. >_>
3

humorless

Ahhh holy notifications.
0

Heroine

THIS IS SO FUN. :)
0

Tserel

Is the total score averaged by snowball/members or is it from the raw score? Otherwise why even join the team that has less members since it's so much likelier to lose?
3

Ritual

TEAM DOLLY FTW.
2

twocents

Sounds like fun.

I am a bit confused that they're arguing over Lumieve, though. It's established in the bit of lore that Subeta has that Lumineve is for feasting, and Luminaire is for presents.
1

far

Oh No! SpookDoggy has thrown a Dainty Tiara Snowball at you! Maybe you should toss one back at them ;)

HAHAHA okay at first I was like MAN I DON'T WANT TO FIND PEOPLE TO THROW SNOWBALLS AT--- but there's a random person option! I like this, interesting XDD

GOCANDY8D

That sounds like fun, especially since we can hit random players. :)

SexyFart

ooh fun!

Sounds interesting.. :o

NOTE: This means you can only get hit by snowballs if you've joined a team. If you choose not to participate, you cannot be hit with snowballs.

Hello snow ...

Omg this sounds amusing o3o
