We\'re done looking through the entries of the Survival CW Contest, and now it\'s up to you to vote for who you\'d like to win! The results will be counted and verified early on Monday 23rd, and the winning items will be put into the shops for users to buy shortly after. Prizes will also be given out at this time!

Unfortunately, my computer had a poorly timed virus that evidently deleted over half of my Windows. By the time my older son, who works on computers, finally got it back up and running today, voting was, unfortunately, already long over, so I wasn't on to campaign for my shark, drawn by the talented Olympia. :) But HUGE thanks to everyone who either voted for, liked, or laughed at it! :)

I admire all of the submitted pieces, I just hope the same style and it's 5 recolors don't take up most of the winning slots. I'd really love to see a variety of items, or limited item types, win. There's so many awesome submissions that deserve to win over recolors!

Just don't vote for recolours if they annoy you wow ._. I do think there should be a prize restriction of some sort on them though, not sure if getting awarded 4000 csc and 100mil for 2 recolours is okay. But they're there because they are of acceptable CW quality and other entries weren't for some reason so stop moaning.

These entries were very artistic. They were all good. SOme of them were not to my taste, but the art was still excellent. Though I know that these were not close to being ALL the entries.

10 votes exactly. I was worried I'd want to go over. Some of the attitude in this thread is.... remarkable, a bad sort. Between people thinking others should have ESP and people thinking suggestions and rules are the same thing, it's just.. bad. Some really great items in there, some other ones not so much. I do beg that if the bunny and the eyeball snow globe don't become a thing on site... can we just have the item art at the very least? I'm in love with those as TC items somewhere.... anywhere... everywhere.

i drew out the path of the tail before i lined it and for its thickness and the path it took, it did not need come out from between the legs. any bit that wouldve showed was literally 2 pixels and ended up just looking weird, so i omitted it?
i'm sorry but its kind of rude to point that out? now that someone said they cant "unsee it" when it was a conscious decision on my part to omit it for aesthetic reasons

@forcryinoutloud nope no submit button because you're allowed to change your mind up until the 23rd. ;P And if you do just press the toggle again you can unvote for it. If it's green you voted for it if it's white you didn't vote on it. :)

1. The recolors didn't bump anything else out, if anything it just cuts the submitters chances of actually winning because everyone picks a different one (I don't think any recolored item won last time, did it?).
2. EVEN IF THAT WAS THE CASE, EVERYONE COULD SUBMIT THREE THINGS? So just because user A submitted 3 recolors and user B submitted 1 recolor doesn't mean user A cheated or something just because user B only submitted one thing? I only submitted one color of one thing and I ain't mad that other people submitted 3 recolors? Like, if they want to hurt their chances so be it :P I just picked one of the most common colors and ran with it |D

Ohmannn I need all the creepy face items. I really wish it was ten items from the den, and ten from louis. Or even more in the end ;D So many are amazing. I just want more gross than cute, so it better be a bit of both!

The only real complaint I have about this competition is that I don't believe submitters should be allowed to say what they submitted. It leaves the possibility of it turning into a "user popularity" contest instead of an "entry popularity" contest.

As far as I know, MapleRose is right. No recolors knocked any items off the voting list, because the voting list is supposed to include everything that was fine according to CW standards! If it isn't there, there was unfortunately some issue. That could have been the art, or the item icon/name not relating well to the overlay, etc.

I don't know why ppl are hating on the recolours. I don't think there was ever a limit to the number of entries that would make it to the voting stage; it seems that the staff just picked ALL the ones that are up to the CW submission standard out of all the entries, so it's not like a unique design didn't make it because of a recolour (if the design didn't make it, it was because it wasn't up to the CW standard).
And like Dannica said, I think the "advice" on the submission page is there to help you, because recolours tend to split the vote if the design passed the quality check (unless the design is really really really popular, which probably won't be the case), or end up wasting your slots if there's an issue with the item (and thus usually all the recolours).
I am kind of curious if you'd be allowed to submit recolours as CWs if a design made it though (I guess that doesn't apply in this case 'cause the recolours are all face items)

Quite a few nice items. Seems like there were way too many eye items? I would have liked to see more background/foreground/ground items, and just clothes in general. Super excited to see what items win! This is such a fun activity and I hope you guys keep doing these in the future.

Even if recolors didn't "bump" anyone out of the competition, staff should have chosen just one of the recolors to showcase so as not to split the vote. And hey, if that item won, SURPRISE! We'd get all the recolors on site. Couldn't that have been a thing? It's a win-win for us voters because we'd automatically get recolors of said winning design (I mean we liked it enough for it to win so...) and a win for the artist because the votes wouldn't be split. I think next time (if there is a next time) the contest information about recolors should be altered: feel free to submit recolors of the same item, but note staff will only pick one if your item is chosen, BUT if your item wins, all the recolors get on site. Then it's really just a question of what the prizes would be. One prize for one item, not each recolor.

I submitted two items that I had put through for Peka-Boo. The Sanguine Lip Stain, which is more fitting for this than the Peka-Boo one. And I revamped + drew a new CI for my eyes I had submitted, so they are "the same" but also different. The reason why I resubmitted them is because I like them, I like how they turned out, and I would love to see them on site. Not to mention, hey, they could make it this time ? Like that adorable as Hell smile that was in there for Peka-Boo, it could have been close to winning but didn't, and this time it could win. You never know. Why be disappointed ? Awesome items are awesome, you don't have to vote on them personally (I mean, vote for my items because I say so... No, no I would never).

I really want to make this as a suggestion, to make things fair for people who can't draw, or entered with a good idea but had a hard time drawing for an HA item the first time. PLEASE make contests so that EVERY item gets a chance, and if an item is poorly drawn but wins, it gets redrawn by a staff artist to meet site criteria and consistency! This would make the HA contests truly fair.

Because if it's the first, then yeah, recolors away, advice is fine, but fix the initial statement. But if it's the second, you either still basically contradicted yourselves, or essentially said 'we really like these eyes but -don't- want them to win' by your logic.
Unless y'all just had a lot less qualified entries than expected (and really, just adjust the # you can vote for them) it still doesn't quite make sense.

I would hope at least when it comes to the final tally that if two recolors are up for a win that the staff will find a way to pick only one and that way we may have a variety of items winning.

Recolors didn't "bump" other entries out, fyi! All entries are reviewed on their own as to how well they fit the submission guidelines. As far as our suggestion to *not* just submit recolors it's because a) if you only submit recolors and there is some sort of issue with your submission then you've basically used up all three entries on the exact same error (non transparent overlays, and transparent item images were just two issues that came up on a number of entries), and b) it splits the votes and actually decreases your chances of winning. If 100 people like your design but you've got two colors up for voting, you may wind up with 60 votes for one and 40 for the other and have it turn out that individually the items didn't get enough votes to make it into the final winners, but if all those votes had gone to the same item then perhaps it would have. So yeah, you can do it if you want to, but we do generally recommend that you aim for more variety in your submissions in order to give you the best chance of winning.

btdubs, thank you for allowing us to vote! Even if most of the stuff I picked doesn't win, the voting process itself (as well as good-naturedly haranguing others for their choices) is so fun and engaging for me that it won't be a hard blow. I really appreciate that staff runs contests like these which feature multiple layers of user involvement.

I voted but it was hard to keep my choices to ten because I loved all the eyes, even though I'm sure some of them are recolours. But considering it is the time of the zombies the eyes fit in perfectly. :)

Just for the record, I said nothing about the submitters. I don't blame people for trying to do it anyways, especially if they are a popular CW maker (or commissioned one) and it's a winning/profitable strategy IF they did make it through.
I blame staff for specifically warning against it, and then doing it anyways, lol. Should have just said nothing, and left yourself the option.

There are pros and cons to having recolours accepted into the contest, so I'm not complaining. It's a choice that the artist/submitter makes, and all the power to them if multiples of their item win.
BUT next time I really believe that recolours should be grouped together somehow during the voting process with each one still requiring a separate submission. If they're grouped then we can vote for all of them in one go, and people can't complain that recolours are taking over the list. Not to mention it will be easier to keep track of as well.

Recolor options shouldn't be this looked down upon, damn people. Don't like one color ? You have another to pick from ! Don't like the style ? Move on. It's another option, that's all. If you don't like options... Sorry ? An artist, or commissioner, should not be made to feel bad for doing something like this. Don't spoil things for others, you grumps.

so... i'm one of the people who did multiple colors of the same item, and i CERTAINLY didn't intend for anyone to "get bumped out" because of me doing recolors. in fact, i'm a little hurt that people are assuming that people would do this on purpose? i submitted multiple colors of the same thing just in case staff liked one more than the other. i'm not dumb, i can read the little "variety is the spice of life" bulletin on the guidelines. i assumed the staff would pick the one that most invoked the colors or spirit of the holiday and reject the others. and the reason i submitted multiple colors is because between commissions and life i only had time to complete one thing of my own - hence a recolor or two, because i wanted to have my bases covered just in case there were different participation prizes for doing two or three entries vs one entry. people aren't attacking people for submitting a hastily-drawn smiley face or a single black pixel as their entry, so why hate on people who did recolors?

@Malevolent The black/white thing is probably why it didn't make it to selection then. Because I've had issues where an item works well on a lighter base but looks completely different on a dark base (though my issue was with some lighter accents/contouring, which is annoying because there are so many dark or white items out there and those aren't going to work as well on a darker base as they would a lighter base (and vice versa) and it's annoying that it has to accommodate both. I understand WHY it does but still, it makes things more difficult to be able to work with both. Either way, if you do change it up to be submitted as a CW, I can't wait to see it. ^-^ I'm sure if you want it as a CW makeup and submit it then you would get advice on it as to why it didn't make the cut which would give you information on what you need to do to edit it. The fact that so many recolors made it through could mean that the other entries that didn't make it through to voting might not have been CW-grade quality. I enjoyed some of the selections to choose from. Sadly some of the items I must agree shouldn't have a final round with recolours. There's a lot to risk with it plus think about another CW that could've gotten in instead of the double. It seems unfair for those others.

Thank you! I actually thought it held up well when it was shrunk down. It doesn't look quite as good on a darker HA, though still decent, but on a pale one the thin lines/veins still give the effect, I think. Smaller Jeepers Creepers.

@Malevolent Those are rather cool. I would've voted for the Jeepers Creepers and I'm usually more into cutesy ones. I think when shrunk down to normal size, the fine lines don't tend to show up so they may need to be a bit thicker or something, but that would be a gorgeous makeup!

@Passus - There are a lot of recolors because during the last CW competition (during peka-boo) the staff only picked one or so color to be in voting, whereas this time they basically picked all recolors, or most. I submitted an item and it's recolor but that was only because I expected them to pick one not both, so it seems like they were less selective with recolors this time around. It may be also because they wanted to fill in some of the spaces up if some of the items that didn't get accepted were not up to par. But that only makes voting easier since if you like a style you can pick your favorite color of it and then have the rest of your votes for other styles.

@LunaWolf There isn't an approval/denial process like in CW submissions but I figure they still deny things that are not CW grade quality, since I've been told a lot of people submitted something like just a pixel or something of the sort for participation prizes, so staff had to weed out some of the submissions. I believe that's why they said submit your best work because anything that wouldn't be acceptable as CW quality wouldn't make it to voting. If they did it the other way, you would have to weed through like hundreds of submissions and someone could have theoretically submitted nothing more than a pixel and if it made to voting and they had a lot of friends they could've been able to get it to win and then it would be an item on site that is useless.
This is just my theory as to why it was done this way, so I don't mean to start anything up for those reading this!

Did we really need like... multiples of the same eyes in three different colors? All these choices are solid, so congrats the the finalists, but that is kind of ridiculous. I didn't even enter anything and i'm annoyed on behalf of people whose stuff didn't make it in favor of all thee eye recolors. :/

I wish it would let you toggle more than ten but turn them red like too many layers in the wardrobe. That way when you leave and come back they'd all be at the top so you could narrow them down more easily. If anyone left more than 10 by the deadline it could 1. null their votes or 2. only count the first ten either a. in the order they appear on the list, or b. in the order they were clicked.

I voted for 10, love the shark and Shred of Flesh! Have to say I don't think it is right that there are 3 eyes up there that are exactly the same but just a different colour and the same with a jumper being up there twice, but different colours. I would have preferred to have seen all unique items, there are also a lot of eyes.

@Cerredwyn Yes, "Toggle Vote" is voting, if it turns green that means you're voting on it, if you change your mind you press the button again and it'll turn back to white and that means you're not longer voting for said item. :D That way if you change your mind on one or another, you can change it up.
