Place the apples in a large bowl, then cover with boiling water (you may have to do this in 2 batches). This will remove the waxy coating and help the caramel to stick
@Amber this is the first step in a Toffee Apple recipe. The bolding is mine. The only reason the american candy-apple version is red is food-dye. Australians call their candy-apple a toffee apple and dye it red. The definition of caramel doesn't include milk, but even if you do mean Kraft's own milk-caramel candy apple then:

Three of these sugar-poisoned apples already exist in Subeta. *goes to look* They didn't even need a revamp.
